A Lesson in Bravery

I was laying here on the couch thinking about the message my Grammy sent me. It was about sunbeams helping me find my guardian angels or them find me or us find each other. Something like that.

Next thing I knew, I was engulfed in a sunbeam. My Guardian Angel Lexi appeared and told me to listen (click on the picture below):

Angel Lexi is still trying to help me have more courage, and not be so afraid. She said she is very proud of me for being such a good puppy. I never chew up anything and I listen to my Mommy and now I always potty outside. She said it was very good that I like Mommy to hold me and love on me, since that is something Mommy missed with her. My guardian angel also said that she sees some of her own traits in me, like how I have started laying by myself on whatever furniture isn’t occupied instead of with my Mommy or Daddy; or how I am so good on the grooming table, but slowly, very slowly, creep to the edge.

It all felt so peaceful, I quietly fell asleep next to my Christmas reindeer, where I dreamed of slaying dragons, flying with Angel Lexi, and riding in the car without shaking.

I am Xena the Schnauzer Warrior Princess (at least in my dreams)

  1. Thank you Kali and Shoko, for the encouragement. Mommy says I am Xena the Schnauzer and the Warrior Princess part will come later. For now, I am just her little princess. 🙂

  4. Mis Patzy, I think you are very brave to even tell me this. Nothing bad ever happened to me in my past. I had a wonderful Granny and lots of other puppies like myself to play with. Cars are just so big and scary, and when Angel Lexi told me to stay away from them I listened so good that now it’s scary to even get in one. I am trying to get over it, though, as well as some other fears. I know I will keep getting braver, and thank you for your encouragement. ❤ ~Xena

  5. Xena, I am a brave strong kitty just like you are a brave strong doggy. But I am still afraid of being picked up and held. I’m not sure why but my Shelter bio says I was trapped as a stray. I may have been trapped and even hurt for a while and even though I can’t tell my mommy what happened, she knows and is very gentle and understanding even when I hiss and yell and swat her for picking me up. We always know we love each other. And when she is asleep I sneak next to her and sometimes I crawl on top of her. I will become less afraid just as you will. We can’t change the past but we can control how we react to the future. Luvs, Patzy

  6. Annette from adogtales did the graphics I have been using for Lexi, Xena and Lucy. She just did them and sent them to me to use as I wanted. I am thrilled with them. I wish I had more artistic talent like you and she have. ~Amy
Mommy said I am pretty quiet and still when I sleep. I had to ask her since I am asleep and don’t know, he, he. ~Xena Pee S. Lucy kicks in her sleep.

  7. When you dream do you ever kick you feet like you are running or bark softly because I do, so that is how Lee knows for sure I am dreaming. We like your characterization of each of you after your name. Someone did a great job doing them.
Happy New Year it’s the year of the dog you know.

  10. BOL!! I guess your mom paid her dues! Maybe that’s why Nymeria chews so much…Angel Keiko never chewed anything and I only chewed a little bit but it didn’t last very long.

  11. Mommy says Angel Lexi (when she was a puppy) and Riley chewed up enough stuff for me and several more puppies combined, and that she was due for a non-chewing puppy. ~Xena

  13. Xena We are all so very proud of you. You take baby steps every day and that is a good thing, It means you are thinking. That is one of the best qualities to have, a thinking schnauzer. You will soon be a young lady and everything will start to fall into place for you and you will blossom right in front of our eyes. You have a wonderful family Xena and they are all there to help. You have Mom and Dad and Lucy and Riley and Angel Lexi and if you look real hard you”ll see your grandparents Deacon and Masquarade (who you take after). Snuggle up and stay warm.

  15. Xena, it takes time and experience to build courage and in my book you are already brave. Part of bravery is realizing what we need to work on and being brave enough to follow through and work on it. I am working on not shaking when I go for a ride too. My Margret and My Greg plus my sisters are helping me learn to be brave when in the car. I know with Angel Lexi, Lucy, Riley and your mom and dad’s help you’ll be able to too. Hey! we can work on that together. What do you say? ~nose nudges Bonnie Pup
