Lucy at Final Rocktoberfest 2019

What a great Sunday I had! I thought I was going to be left home again, and then my peeps brother Andrew came to the house. Next thing I knew, Xena was following her treat puzzle into her kennel and me and Riley, we were getting our leashes on and jumping into the back seat of the car with Andrew. We were all going to Rock City! I was so happy when we parked and I knew where we were that I couldn’t stop wagging my tail. The first thing we did was get our caricatures done, just like that collie that I told you about in The Dogs of Rocktoberfest 2019.

This one below was done two years ago with Mom and Xena, when XeXe was only about four months old.

Dad looked at them both and said it was really good of us dogs and that it looked like Mom had put on weight. Oops! Even I know not to say something like that!

Moving on. Andrew and Riley got their caricatures done, too. We don’t have a picture of theirs, but we did get this one with Rocky, he, he, while Andrew was posing. Rocky is always doing funny stuff like that.

Mom stored her bag next to the bench we get to use, the one right up by the band, and then we were anxious to do some exploring.

Andrew wanted to go look out over 7 states. He even brought binoculars to see far away. Riley and I weren’t interested in looking at 7 states, but we did enjoy watching all the people and other dogs.

You can see how cloudy the sky was. The forecast was clear skies and 79F/26C, but it never really cleared up or got over 64F/18C.

Mom was cold the whole time.

We walked along the trails and stopped at a little way station so Mom and Andrew could sit and talk awhile. Look who was there.

I’m ashamed to say that me and Riley, we went nuts. That must have set off a signal for the black cat to transform into a Halloween Black Cat. Mom didn’t get a picture of that scary and impressive sight because she had both hands full with controlling me. After me and Riley settled down, the cat laid back down and stayed there, too, as if to say, you don’t scare me. After she made her point, she got up, jumped the fence, and sauntered away across the flat-topped boulders.

Switching from cats to dogs, here are three of the Rocktoberfest dogs we met.

Tuck a four month old Boston Terrier. A sweet, playful puppy.
Peaches, a six month old Golden Doodle puppy
Plexi, a Mini Golden Doodle!

Everyone wanted to pet us, from tiny kids to older adults and every age in between. It was both wonderful and exhausting. Back in the pavilion, Riley and I rested and watched my Dad teach polka.

Some of the students were funny to watch, especially since they were obviously having a great time of it, even if they were making it up as they went…like the couple next to Dad!

Too soon it was 5:00. Dad was done working, the temperature was dropping, and everyone was tired.

We meandered down the trail leading to the exit, smiles on our faces and happy thoughts in our heads. (It didn’t hurt that we knew supper would be served as soon as we got home.) Riley told me about him and his Dad crossing the swinging bridge, and he said it wasn’t at all scary. (I think I’ll just keep going the other way over that chasm.) He said he hadn’t been up here for a long time and he was so happy to come back and to spend a day with his Dad (Andrew). He’ll be going back to live with his Dad, but we don’t know for sure when that will be. I hope not very soon, unless, well, unless that would make Riley happier. He seems pretty happy now, though. We finally got to the exit…

Hey Dad, do you know how many new friends I made? Do you want me to lead the way? I know how to get to the car from here. Goodbye Rocktoberfest 2019. It’s been fun.

Wiggles and giggles and licks, Lucy the Rocktoberfest dog.

  1. Thanks, Miss BellaDharma. Riley went home with his dad cause he has an ear infection and the only one who can put any medicine in his ears is his Dad. He left just in time, too, as you will see from our emergency surgery post! xox Lucy
