We are joining Comedy Plus with much thanks for hosting Awww Mondays.

Hi, Lucy here. This isn’t an official “Grooming with Mom” post by me, Ace Reporter on the Groom Beat. But it has to do with one of our newer grooms.
You may remember that each time Chief comes, we’ve been noticing the color changes on the puppy’s hair. Mom predicted in October that he had reached his adult coloring. Chief was here last week, and we want to look back to see if there is any change.
Chief is still a very active and wiggly puppy. That means that both grooming and photographing can be challenging. Here are just two of the photo failures.
And here are post-groom pictures of Chief since he started coming to us for his spa day.

October 7
December 11
I think Mom’s prediction was right. What do you think? You can click on each picture to biggify it.

Our Mom says she was born with black hair that turned light blonde and finally settled on brown!

Oh, yes! Almost the opposite of what happened to Ma when she was a wee lass! She started off with reddish-blonde furs, and ended up with dark brown furs! I kinda stayed the same colors, just more tan on my head. I thinks Chief’s colors are PAWSOME! He is one handsome puppers!
Good groom Ms. Amy!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥

Rosy? We thought she was all black with a little white. Did you mean Sunny? We’ve watched her change colors on your posts.

It’s true! My Lexi, a black and silver, never lightened at all. But I watched my first schnauzer, another salt and pepper, get progressively lighter as she aged.

Egad…the puppies are fading!!! Maybe they should start using sunscreen.

Another yorkie Mom grooms – Slider – who is much bigger, is exactly the same color, even though he started out the same color Chief was as a very young puppy, so that helped her make her guess.

Wait until he is 8=9, he’ll be even lighter. It’s great to have a picture of every year as you watch them slowly changing.

It’s interesting how much lighter Chief has gotten. He sure is a cutie no matter what color he is.

Your mum is so smart and clever. Who knew the little pup fur could fade that much?

seeing you again Lucy, made my day, and I did biggify and wow what a difference from picture 1 to the last one. yes we agree that is the final color. until I met you and 2 other bloggers, i had no idea that puppies change colors like this. all we have ever had are mutts and the look the same as puppies or adults.. learning new things every day.

It’s just the snow on him. Next spring it will melt and the old color will be back.
