  1. Eyes look brown…probably a female. Isn’t it cool how all their shells are unique but still totally identifiable as a Woodland Box Turtle. Thanks for sharing this.   2. Those turtles are fascinating…we have lots around here, too, but the bigger ones don’t visit us because they cannot get through our fence fabric. A huge snapper tried once and got stuck…and had the nerve to be very angry at petcretary when she rescued it out of its predicament…with a shovel and wheelbarrow! LOL!

  3. I didn’t even bark at the turtle, Miss Sandra. He went on into the woods after I went back into the house. Umm no, he smelled like a turtle, I guess. Daddy said he is a land species.

  5. The sneaky approach is always good, Xena, never know what that critter might do… I am now wondering just how a turtle smells. fishy? he he he on Da Phinny and da nelly not allowed. I wonder why. I am glad to see you were gentle and so was the turtle
