Chia’s Poetry on Thankful Thursday

Thanks to Angel Sammy for the picture this week and Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday. I wrote this poem before Brian made his trip to the Rainbow Bridge. *wipes eyes* So after debating whether to publish it or not, I decided that Brian would have wanted me to. Here it is, in honor of my friend Brian.

Keep Trying by Chia

Ever have that thought
Almost impossible to do,
Hoping to not get caught
While folks stick to you like glue?

I want to be in charge here
Of all that’s said and done.
I want to be the alpha;
It sure does sound like fun!

I want to run the neighborhood
Without any restraints;
Daily checking along the fence
And always both the gates.

I want to be the one most loved
By both my Mom and Dad,
Not the one told, “Bad dog!”
I’m not usually so bad!

I may never be in charge
Or alpha of my pack.
I may never run the neighborhood (with permission)
Or the favorite of my pack.

But I’m not a quitter!

Seriously, I’m really thankful for my home and my family and my yummy food and my walks and everything else that goes with being the youngest one of the pack. I know my folks love me a lot. Daddy holds me and rubs my belly in the evening, and Mommy kisses me and scritches me and lets me cuddle up to her back in bed and make sure I’ve got a blanket to burrow under. And she doesn’t even complain when I kick her in bed ’cause I’m having a wild running dream. And I love my pack. I just wanna be in charge, ya know? *sigh*

Pee Ess: True confession…this morning Mom walked away from all 4 of our dog bowls on the counter that she was filling with veggies and meat for our supper tonight. So while she went to the bedroom for something, I ate all the meat (except Riley’s, cause his bowl didn’t have any in it yet). I’m a Bad Dog again, but I have a happy tummy. For now. Except it’s starting to not feel quite as good. Oops, gotta go!

We’re all thankful for the time we had getting to know Brian and his siblings. We love you, Angel Brian!

  1. First of all 1,000 apologies for missing many of your last week’s post. I have a blog list with blogs I read. It lost all of them about a month ago. I thought I had everything set up for you all. Some how the link I had kept bringing up the last Poem in September.
    Anyway well done today. I caught up on what I missed and will try to work on my link to you

  5. Chia, we think you poem is terrific, and we applaud you for getting to all the food bowls before your mom got back in the room. Bet she doesn’t leave them unattended again. You are not a bad dog, just an opportunist, as we cats are. XOCK, Kitties Blue

  7. Chaplin: “That was some nice work stealing the food, Chia! Yesterday I snuck into the room when Mama put Oona’s food in there and I ate every bit of it. But today, for some reason, I only got a token for breakfast. So unfair …”

  9. Dearest Chia, you are loved, by your siblings, parents and by all of us.. I hope you did not get too sick with everyones dinner in your tiny tummy. Also hope there was more to put out for the others. Beau had never heard the words Bad Dog, in the 3 years we have had him. the past 4 days he has heard it 4 times. for some reason, four days ago, he would poop, and turn around and eat it. Never has he done that. now we have to watch him go and say NO while we pick it up. We wish you could be Da Boss of your house, but just imagine the chaos if you were. MOL MOL

  10. What a great job on the poem Chia! AND congratulations on being the fastest pup in the world in devouring ALL the meat from ALL the food bowls before Mom discovered what you’d done…..you definitely deserve to be in charge….you showed initiative! Thanks for playing poetry with us every week. WELL DONE!

    Hugs, Teddy

  11. Oh, my…yes, those peeps in that image are not quitting until they squish that mattress/box frame into the back of the car…um…um…nevermind!

    We like your thoughts in that poem, Chia. And I, Dalton, am not the youngest, but I would love to be in charge here…though for some reason, Benji & I think only the two leggers get to be in charge…
    We both patrol our fence, yard and the gates. Woe to anyone/animal who dares trespass into our visual ‘terriertory’! BOL!! The more so if they dare enter!!

    Sometimes we also think our name is Bad Dog…

    But you stole the meat?? The most yummy MEATZ&trade ?? wow!! We haven’t tried counter surfing…thanks for the great idea!
