Thanks to Rosy and Sunny of The LLB Life for hosting Nature Friday!
Xena: First, here’s our feeble attempt at Nature Friday, BOL!

This is a baby oak tree who barely has his trunk yet. But he’s sure putting on a pretty show for the fall season. And we think the evergreen is a baby fir tree, cozying up to the baby oak. Can anyone say “awww?” Mom says she’ll replant them in the spring when the ground is softer.
Next, we wanted to share this license plate with Miss Cecilia and Angel Madi.

Mom bought a big bag of little bitty candy bars to give out at Halloween. We had a lot left. She kept seeing letters on the little snicker bars, just one letter on each, and couldn’t figure out why. When Riley’s Person Andrew came over last Sunday he set the candy bars out in this order. Mystery solved!

Finally, this is Lucy at work on Monday. It was still pretty early in the morning when she started staring out the windows wondering when the Pastor – her new BFF – was going to show up.
I guess that’s all I’ve got to bark about today, friends. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Oh, wait, I forgot to put in my picture! I’m Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

Yes, it was like walking in Fairyland to be in that forest. The oak sapling and discovery of a Fliegenpilz – that red mushroom with white dots, the fly agaric – the same outing capped the sensation!

Our winters aren’t usually very bad, so there shouldn’t be a problem.

Did not know it was that rare, but should have since we have lots of Oak trees, but never a baby one before this!

Lulu: “Our Dada says those little Snickers bars would be ideal for spelling out a ransom note, as long as the ransom note only consisted of a few different letters.”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, I worry about him sometimes …”

OMDs I absolutely adore the PAWSITV plate. And I love the blue back ground.
That baby oak will grow into a fine shade tree in no time.

Sweet baby trees – the oak already knows how to show off its’ foliage in the Fall…..nice that your Mom will find new homes for them in the Spring so they can SPREAD their roots and grow big and strong.

I note that I am from Nebraska, the Arbor Day State, and trees are happy, special things. A wild oak, growing from an acorn possibly planted by a squirrel, is one in a thousand perhaps.

I remember coming across a seedling oak tree in the Pfaelzerwald south of Kaiserslautern, Germany in 1971, thinking it was the cutest thing I’d ever seen! It was a bit smaller than the one you show but had its summer leaves on. The back of some German coins then had oak leaves on them, so this baby oak had a happy connection with the country I was in.

Those baby trees are nice to watch growing up. We have three medium sized oaks that squirrels ‘donated’ to us, and we’ve seen them grow up from little ones just like yours. They give us good shade now after about 25-30 years…
Hi, Lucy!
