Thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week!

A Surreal Tale by Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess and Critter Hunter
I saw a critter stirring,
it looked to be fair game.
It saw me coming toward it;
I ran without fear or shame.
Through leaves and trees and prickly brush
Cross streams and meadows wide,
Up hills, down vales, the chase went on,
E’en through the Great Divide.
Then suddenly it’s mate appeared
And they began to kiss.
I listened as they said goodbye
Don’t think I can handle this!
I retraced my steps and arrived home
In time to eat a meal.
When asked what fun the day had brought
I made up tales less surreal.
So now a critter family lives just beyond our shed.
I tell the babies stories when they settle down for bed
About the time their dad and I crossed hill and dale and streams.
They sleep and I’m their godmother in all their precious dreams.
Now it’s time for my thankfuls! First, thanks to Angel Brian, for hosting Thankful Thursday!
I’m thankful Mommy took me to work with her last week and again this Tuesday.

And I’m thankful for the warm sunlight!
Your friendly neighborhood schnauzer, Xena.
Wow, another difference in our 2 species. Crinkly and noisy would make me run away! XOX Xena

I love tissue paper……so did my predecessor Angel Sammy. It’s crinkly and noisy and makes a very comfy thing to lie on. Mom gives me a fresh piece every week which I promptly crinkle up to suit my needs – I know a lot of cats who enjoy a nice sheet of tissue paper – it’s a great toy!!

I am assuming since much time is spent at church, you have been a really good girl. Waiting to hear from Lucy and the pastor… we are so happy the two of you are office mascots. your pomen in right on point. love those kissing groundhogs?? beavers??? make that prairie dogs, just did the Girlgirl search and that photo was used to halt the building of a mall that was destroying the whole village of prairie dogs..

What a beautiful story you told with your poem. It was nice of you to spare the critter so he could stay with his family.

Xena! That was a most amazing and wonderful poem about a truly epic adventure……! So happy you joined us for poetry day – it’s always fun isn’t it. Looks like you scored a nice sunny spot for a snooze. I have trained my Mom to have a piece of tissue paper available in each of my favorite sunny places in the house so I can enjoy FULLY my house-naps. Humans are sometimes tough to train aren’t they!

That was a fun poem! And what a great sunpuddle!! We have snow instead of sun…well it is winter…but we do not care for it. We can’t find our grass…
