Xena’s Thankful Thursday and Poem

Thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.

This was a picture I had to put a lot of thought into. The web is so pretty, but…
OK, I’ll stop keeping you guessing and show you my poem. First, the picture.

Chia Ate my Blueberries by Xena

I want that big berry,
It’s behind the web.
I’d better be wary;
I could end up dead.

I guess I’ll go home;
Mommy went to the store.
Chia ate all the berries!
Mommy, please go buy more!

Chia: Xeboo! You know I’m not crazy about blueberries! Why would you blame me?
Xena: Cause it’s usually you who gets in trouble for everything, so why not?
Chia: I’m calling my lawyer.

I’m actually thankful for you, Chia. You keep things lively around here. Me and Lucy were getting in a bit of a rut until you showed up four years ago. And I love berries of any kind, so I’m thankful, too, that you aren’t crazy about them. That means more for me!

Chia: Yeah, well, I’m thankful you eat the berries so I don’t have to, BOL!

  2. Have your Mom cut a berry in half for you some day when you’re outside (so you don’t stain the rung). Let us know if you like it! XOX Xena (If you don’t we’ll come eat the rest of them so they don’t go to waste. *wags*)

  4. How cute!!!! Love your poem!!! I’m not crazy about berries either, but my husband loves strawberries and blueberries. As for that beautiful web, I live in a state forest, and South Carolina is very tropical. The forest in the summer is much like a tropical jungle. At night all the bugs and critters come out to roam, and the outside of my house is covered in spiders as big as the palm of my hand and palmetto bugs (big as water bugs but they have wings and will fly at you to attack). The webs these huge spiders build every night stretch up to 10 feet between the trees. The crazy thing is all the bugs and spiders (including their giant webs) disappear right before sunrise. That’s when the birds wake up, and any bugs still left out become “breakfast” for the birds. lol!!!

  6. Xena your poem made me giggle – I’ve never tried a berry before – Mom says I’d probably PLAY with it until it got all mushy and stained the carpet! I have been known to play with a spider though – which my Mom says might get me in trouble one day. Good job Xena!!!

    Hugs, Teddy
