Our New Friend, Zoie

We’ve had a visitor for a little over two weeks. She’s an 11-year-old schnauzer and one of the dogs Mommy grooms. Here’s Zoie from just a few years ago when she first started coming to get groomed.

Now she’s got bad arthritis that sometimes makes her scream in the morning when she tries to stand up. She’s also got a big tumor inside her mouth on her gums. Her Mom’s thought about helping her cross the bridge, but she’s still eating and walking and being a schnauzer.

When her Mom said she was going to Michigan to visit her sister Mommy said she’d board Zoie. But Mommy was super busy and her and Daddy went out of town both weekends Zoie was here, so brother Andrew took over her care. It didn’t take long for her to win his heart. She cuddled with him and slept in the bed with him and Riley. He made sure she ate and gave her her meds and talked to her and pet her a lot. Her Mom said she was a picky eater, so she got some of our special food the first couple of days.

Not looking too picky here, is she?

She learned about the doggie door from the porch to the dog lot the first day here, and enjoyed being out on the porch. She gave Mommy “the eye.”

Riley was jealous at first-even though Andrew was mindful of giving him a lot of attention too-but he eventually warmed up to her and has been looking for her since she went home today. This picture is of Andrew holding her out on the porch.

We know Andrew would have kept her forever if her Mom didn’t want her back. Us schnauzers have always been Mommy’s dogs but Zoie was definitely Andrew’s schnauzer girl! We hope she comes back again to stay.

  1. I go through a LOT of puppy pads. I use 4 of them under the litter box (to cover the entire floor of the closet the litter box is in), because 2 of mine have a terrible aim. lol!! Pads are also great for feeding cats canned food since they tend to drop it all over the floor. Cats are incredibly messy!!! 😹🐈‍⬛

  2. She’s kinda like Riley…she had her times of hurting, but she still wants to interact and eat, and you should see that little tail wag! She even learned to use the doggie door to the dog lot the first day here!

  5. Looks like your visitor was SUPER HAPPY while staying with you – Zoie is adorable and we wish she didn’t have that tumor and such painful arthritis…..at least she’s able to eat well. I’m sure she was happy to see her Mom but it seems she’s HAPPY visiting with you too.
