Pet Obesity Week with Chia

Chia: Mom just found out that it is Pet Obesity Week. (Thanks Cat Blogosphere.) Actually, I’m not sure whether to thank them or be pis… er…upset.

You see, I knew this week was coming and I did my best to fit in. Literally. I’m sure you’re wondering how that could happen with the careful quality and quantity control my Mom practices when she prepares our food. That’s the same question she was asking herself as she began to refer to me as “The Sausage” and cut my food portions even more than starvation level! (Mom: Actually, I started giving Chia more low-cal veggies and less fruit, squash and meat, as well as one ounce less of food per serving. ) Oh, and I hate being called “The Sausage.” I give her a dirty look every time she does it. Unfortunately, that just makes her laugh.

This is my “new look.”

Stop calling me a sausage. I just lost 1/2 pound from your stupid diet!

Then Mom found out how I was putting on weight! Brother Andrew caught me eating all of the food that Riley left in his bowl and he snitched on me. Sure, he took precautions like feeding Ri-boy in his bedroom and closing the door. But sometimes he forgot to pick up the leftovers when Ri was done. And Riley’s been leaving a lot of leftovers, too. *sigh* They were so good!

If starving me isn’t enough, now she’s cancelled our trip to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to show off our Freestyle routine. Dog! I sure was looking forward to dancing with her and Xeboo. Mom! I’m not too fat to dance!*

Oh well, even though I’m on a strict diet now I made it to this special week for all of us obese dogs and cats. I went from 15 pounds to 20 pounds! Woohoo! But I just found out – Mom told me – that in only two more months there’s going to be a “Just the Right Weight Week.” Wow! I’d better stick with that diet that Mom put me on so I can be part of that, too!

Your friend, Chia XOXOXOXOX

*Moms note: It has nothing to do with Chia and everything to do with the weather, both past and what could still happen the first weekend of November. Not taking any chances. Plus the drive there has now changed from 6 to 12 hours each way. We’ll wait until next spring and go to PA for the next Freestyle trial. She ought to be a pro (like Xeboo, er, Xena, by then.)

  2. Well shoot, we’re sorry you guys won’t be making back for that dance competition but it makes good sense. With all the rain the east coast has received, no need being stuck in queue getting there. Dear Chia…Wilson knows just how you feel about being on rations. On the plus side, he’s down about 20 pounds from when he arrived 9 months ago so portions are a bit bigger after the vet finally said he had the most perfect waistline now.

  3. Oh, so your Dada makes your food just like our Mom does? I bet you eat good, like us! Mom weighs our food too. If we could just get ahold of those scales… And we’re disappointed, but maybe that actually means another 6 months of us practicing and getting treats!! XOXOX Chia

  4. I just told Mom that but she says that’s the only reason I look slim in the picture. Thanks for trying to help me, Miss Cecilia. But I’m looking forward to getting ready for the new even in a coupla months! XOXOX Chia.
Xena: Chia, you know Mommy made that…
    Lucy: Shhhh, don’t tell her.

  5. Charlee: “We just found out about Pet Obesity Week recently, too! And come to find out the reason we don’t get to be obese is that Dada weighs all our food before he gives it to us! We have got plans to deal with this outrage, just wait and see …”
Lulu: “We’re sorry that you aren’t getting to go to the dancing in North Carolina this year but 12 hours in the car is a lot. It would be 84 hours for a dog. You’ll make up for that with extra fun next year, I’m sure!”

  6. Amy wise decision to wait til Spring event in WS. That would be a long drive in Nov with iffy weather even at 6 hours. I cannot imagine it in 12 hours.

Chia.. tell mom black is sliming and you are black and slim

    Hugs cecilia
