I Won’t Do It! by Lexi the Schnauzer

As a theater star I put my paw down about one thing….

When I visualized being Toto in the Wizard of Oz, it did NOT include being trampled by moving trees!

I won’t do it!

ORIGNINALLY PUBLISHED ON
I keep adding things to my part as Toto, as the audience notices and responds. If they don’t respond, I never do it again. I have, however, decided to leave one thing out. Mom has finally stopped trying to make me do it, because I am not going to do it anymore. Period. End of discussion. Those trees scare me. They walk around and dance and act entirely not like trees. They got in my way as I (sort of) skipped with Dorothy and the Lion and the Tin Man and the Scarecrow across the stage. It is the third time I sort of skip down the proverbial yellow brick road during the play. The first two times went fine. Then, that third time, those trees, oh those nasty moving trees, got in my way and it scared me! I thought they were going to trample me! I will not go on the stage again when they are there. Not for treats. Not for applause. Not for love or fame. Absolutely, positively not.

  1. Our trees only move when the wind stirs them up, but they never leave where they are planted…we don’t blame you for being scared at all!

Cute story though, according to petcretary, but…WE understand…

  2. I know what you mean. I’ve always been an alternative medicine person as well as a vegetarian then vegan. I started using herbs back in the 80s and it has really paid off now that I’m 68. I’m on no meds, workout every day, eat for health (food is medicine), and feel great. I started using herbs and a holistic approach for cats with my first feral colony 20 years ago. So many illnesses, major and minor, I found I could treat with herbs and holistic medicine rather than expensive vet visits and chemical meds. That colony had bloomed to 25 cats and kittens before I began managing it, getting everyone fixed, socialized, and adopted. A holistic approach not only saved me thousands of dollars in vet visits but it also prolonged their lifespan, especially when a stray tom with FELV (feline leukemia) mated with one of my females and I ended up with 8 infected cats and kittens from that incident. I was able to greatly improve the quality of their lives with herbs and a holistic approach. It works!!

  3. It was her death from cancer that made me start reevaluating everything I was doing with/for the dogs. Raw diet started after she was gone, as a result of her death. So did all the other holistic “oddball” things I do.

  4. lol!!!! Well, I guess even pups have their priorities. And since you were her only ride home AND the chef of her awesome homemade meals, she figured she could suffer through the walking trees and flying monkeys. How funny!!!

  5. Angel Lexi had a ton of self confidence and self awareness. Very little scared her, so I was surprised when the walking trees did. Oh, and she was also scared of the flying monkeys, but I still had to pull her out of her kennel where she ran to and hand her over to one of them. I’m also surprised she forgave me for that. But she was smart…she knew I was her chauffeur.

  6. Good for you!!!! For some of us it takes a lifetime to stop doing things other people want us to do that we do NOT want to do. It’s a wonderful feeling to say NO and mean it. Bravo for you!!

  7. Java Bean: “Ayyy, what?! Some kind of Revenge of the Trees??? Lulu, don’t let them get me!”
Lulu: “Maybe you should stop peeing on the trees and then they wouldn’t seek revenge on you.”
Java Bean: “Well that’s just loco talk.”

  8. Atta girl! Tell it like it is – you’re a STAR and you should be granted your every wish including the removal of MOVING TREES. That is NOT asking too much. Honestly!

  10. I don’t blame you because as much as I love trees if they start dancing around I get scared, like when Hurrican Milton made them dance, I would have loved to see you perform
