First, thanks to Angel Brian, who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the picture every week!
My sweet little sister Xena said I could do the picture poem this week. She’s been feeling a bit off…miserable, actually. Mom took her to our great vet on Saturday, but they were too busy with 2 of the 3 vets out sick. So they went to the Emergency Vet. Symptoms: constant chewing on herself, eyes very red and constantly crusted over, unhappy. Mom thought she was “yeasty” and she was right. The nice people at the E.V. got her the right meds for yeast and bacteria and after 3 days she was all cleared up and happy again. Shoot, I even saw her and Chia playing and chasing each other around the house yesterday!

Santa’s Little Helpers by Lucy
When I got three Santa Clause hats
I asked Jerry and Kitty Krats
To spend their Christmas Eve with me;
We might find something ‘neath the tree!
Instead, these treats and milk we found.
We looked, and no one was around.
My folks had gone to bed early,
So we were Santa’s helpers three!
The End
Xena: I’m so thankful Mommy took me to the vet, even though I did shake a lot at first. The Emergency Vet. was very nice and so was his nurse. The nurse asked if she could take me to the back to get my weight and temperature. Mommy said, “The only time Xena’s had her temperature taken was as a puppy when I first got her. She screamed so loud that we all thought our ear drums would burst.” So the nurse said, “Hmmm. We can do it under her arm.” (I’m very, very thankful for that.) Seems screaming might be a good defense!
Anyhow, Mommy knew I was feeling miserable, and now I feel so, so good, like I used to feel before the allergies got me down. Mommy says she has her Xexe back!
Lucy: I’m thankful that Miss Christy is coming to stay with us for over a week while Mom and Dad go away. (Miss Christy says I’m her favorite, but shhhh, don’t tell my sisters.) I’m not exactly sure what our folks are doing, but I know it involves someone called Queen Mary and bargain prices and crossing the North Atlantic, whatever that is. I’ll be very happy to stay home with Miss Christy.
Chia: Mom also says she and Dad will be M.I.A. for almost two weeks. So don’t worry about us. We’ll be back. In the meantime, I got my sissie back, and we’re gonna play a lot to make up for missed time when XeBoo didn’t feel good.
Xeboo, er Xena: Chia! don’t call me Xeboo.
Chia: Whatcha’ gonna do ’bout it?
*Xena grabbing Chia’s daschund stuffie and running, with Chia chasing her.*
Lots of love and wags from us all. Lucy, Xena and Chia
Yay!!!! I’m so glad you made it across the pond and you’ve got Wi-Fi. What FUN you’re going to have!!! I know how you feel about Xena. I remember one year we took a vacation to Asheville a week after I adopted a feral mom I’d fallen madly in love with. I spent the whole vacation missing her. lol!! We love our babies!!

Lulu: “That is a great poem, Lucy, and it had a happy ending, too! Sometimes poems are sad, but not this one!”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, we’re sorry that Xena was feeling poorly, but it’s great that she is feeling better!”
Lulu: “Yep, I guess sometimes the V-E-T can be helpful after all.”
Java Bean: “Have fun with Miss Christy while your Mom and Dad have fun with Mary Queen of Scots!”
Lulu: “I don’t think it’s Mary Queen of … you know what, never mind.”

Been in that ATL airport many times waiting. Also been there rushing across the entire airport to make a flight when the plane I came in on landed at the opposite end. That is a HUGE airport. But I love airports!! Especially ATL. So many people from so many different places. I’ve often thought working at an airport concession stand would be a great job!! Wonderful surprise to hear from you. I wasn’t expecting that. Have a blessed trip!!!! 🩷

I’m so glad Xena is feeling better. The poem is excellent fun.
My Sweetie and I did an Atlantic crossing on our honeymoon, on the QEII. After the Titanic, the Atlantic crossing route was brought further south, for safety, but ships were finally allowed to take the more northerly route again and our crossing was the first at that latitude since the Titanic disaster. We encountered, in August, the worst storm at sea anyone on board could remember, and we crossed over where the Titanic would have hit the iceberg at the exact same time of night when she met her fate. It was spooky and amazing.
I wish you Bon Voyage, and no storms!

Whoa, We didn’t know you were feeling badly, Xena! Glad the vet peeps figured it out and found the best meds to help you get better. Yeast infections are so UGH.
And that is a super poem! made us giggle. Now we know why there is never anything left out for Santa Paws at our den…even though *she* has a special plate and mug just for that! Hmmm…
Safe travels for your pawrents and a swell trip on the ocean swells! Have fun and we’ll be here when you all get back!

Thanks, Ann. We are planning on having a great time on that ship out at sea, ballroom dancing the night away. And the pups have been mostly on the “good:” list all year, LOL.

Her allergies were bad this year and I think it compromised her immune system even further.
We’ll board the Queen Mary Ocean Liner in England and set out to sea, crossing the north Atlantic, and ending up in NY. No land stops. Just nights of great food and ballroom dancing!

Going to any vet is always terrifying for all of us but they mean well and they do help us feel better when we have an issue. Glad you are back on track!

Well first of all Lucy, your poem ROCKS! I think the addition of YOU in the photo made it perfect. We’re also very happy that Xena is all better – I don’t like going to the doctor either but I have to admit, if I do go I always feel better AFTER (even if I was fine and didn’t need any shots, I just feel BETTER at home sweet home!). How exciting that your Mom and Dad are having a cruise….I hope they have a super duper time – I think you all will find the time they’re gone will go quickly since you have your friend Miss Christy keeping an eye on you!!!
Love and Huggies, Teddy
