Merrick Dog Food Recalls

Just a quick note today to be sure that anyone who uses Merrick dog food is aware of this recall.

May 23, 2018 – Merrick Pet Care, of Amarillo, Texas, is initiating a voluntary recall of a limited amount of beef dog treat varieties due to the potential that they contain elevated levels of a naturally-occurring beef thyroid hormone.

Please pass the word on to your friends.

  1. I agree, Jean. And for those who don’t I wanted to post this particular one, as I always thought Merrick was a great company. As I did Blue Buffalo before they had 2 recalls in 2 years that adversely affected our household. Thankfully, none of the 6 dogs we had living with us at the time died, but many did.

  2. It’s true. But I still feel like I have more control over it and know what is in their food by making it at home. I’m glad your Mom and Dad are doing the same.

  3. We got the alert, too
It makes us a bit sad as a new small business pet store opened up within walking distance – the owners are very nice and allow dogs to visit – and Molly has made friends with their greeter (personal) dog. We’d like them to stay in business, but Molly doesn’t need wardrobe, we are wary of some of the toys and treats they have. We did buy a bag of yummy tiny snack for some refreshing training we are attempting, but it is so scary now buying any company’s products.
Everyone should sign up for those. You just can’t be too careful.
    Thanks for spreading the warning!
