My Five Minutes at the Vet: A True Story

Hey, Chia here. I had a harrowing time at the vet this week. Dad took me (where the h-e-double hockey sticks was Mom?). At first I was watching Xena shake and shiver and then I was watching Lucy try to make friends with everyone until… until…I saw my dachshund friend up on the ledge! How the h-e-double hockey sticks did BeMine, aka MiniMe, get up there, or get here at all?!

I went ballistic. I didn’t even hear Dad telling me to settle down and stop barking. I couldn’t take my eyes off BeMine, aka MiniMe.

Dad got me – still carrying on – and Xena – still shaking – out of there as soon as they were done stealing our blood for the DNA Heartworm test that Mom sends off to Canada. Lucy was in the back getting her blood stolen when Dad told the crew that he was going to take us to the car. He took us out the back way, probably so I couldn’t see MiniMe again…or was it MiniMe?

I sure am happy to be home, and that somehow MiniMe managed to get home, too, to cuddle with me.

Thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop and letting me tell my story with a happy ending!

  1. Java Bean: “Ayyy, she mostly uses the stuffed dog to demonstrate how to put on and properly adjust a front-attach harness and how to adjust a martingale collar so that they are fitted correctly. I still want to be friends with it though!”

  2. Java Bean: “Ayyy, that BeMine MiniMe sure seems to get around! We have something like that here, a life-size model of a Jack Russell terrier, and when I was new I thought it was one of mis amigos from when I lived on the streets in Mexico. Mama kept telling me it was just a stuffed dog that she uses for training, but I am still not quite convinced …”

  4. OMDs going to the vet made you hallucinate big time. MiniMe either has a Miniher or she has a super duper tunnel to travel in.

Thank goodness you came home to find things as the should be

    Hugs Cecilia and giggling too

  5. Mom Amy: Awww, that’s such a sweet story, and I would be weepy remembering something like that, too.
Chia: It’s not my fault if Dad gets embarrassed…but if that gets me outa there!

  6. Oh, and that reminded *her* of the time when she was seven years old in Holland, visiting her Oma and Opa, when she saw a big picture of her Dad on the wall!! She started laughing and pointing at it…how did he get here, he’s supposed to be back home in Canada!! They’d been away from home for a couple weeks by then…visiting the maternal side of the family, and Daddy was on the wall at her paternal Oma and Opa!

  7. OMD!!! BeMine was there, too???HOW ON EARTH????

When, I Dalton was new here, after MJF, my older brofur had just passed away, and all of a sudden there was this life sized MJF, complete with collar and tags standing on the forbidden couch in the forbidden living room. Rest assured that I barked and whined my head off, till *they* brought it to my nest…and I loved on it for a long while…and now petcretary is leaky remembering that day…

Chia, I think you embarrassed your Dad, LOL!! But all’s well that ends well, right??

  9. lol!!!! You’re probably right. My husband came with us one time for a vet visit and was absolutely horrified at all the howling between me and the cats. But I can’t resist. It’s so much FUN!!!! You should try it sometimes if your babies start barking in the car. No reason you can answer every bark with a bark of your own, right? 🤣🤣🤣

  10. My dogs never seemed to mind the vet. But my cats would totally agree with you. NOT their fav place to go. EVER. In fact they seem to know the minute I put them in the car that this is not going to end well. So they scream at the top of their lungs all the way to the vet. Which gives me the opportunity to scream with them. lol!! Every time they let out a howl, I respond with a howl of my own. All the way down the road to the vet until they finally stop screaming. I can’t decide if they stop because they’re exhausted from all their screaming or if they’re just tired of having to listen to me howl with them. Or maybe it’s because I’m the only one having fun, which kinda defeats the purpose of their screaming. 🤣🤣🤣

  11. I think that was a “bemine wannabe” you saw at the vet…….because your very own bemine was at home waiting for you! Vet visits are not my most favorite thing because at home I can do whatever I want and at the vet I have to what THEY want! Boooooo!

    Hugs, Teddy
