Lucy, Ace Reporter on the Groom Beat, here at WGroomingWithMom. We have sad news and happy news all for the same pup today. Let’s get started
First the sad news…two years ago next month, one of Groomer Mom’s (GM) clients passed away. She was the sister of another one of GM’s clients, Marquita. Since then, the pup’s dad has had to take over everything she did, and the last thing he was thinking about was getting Bailey (who you will see shortly) groomed. Marquita, brought Bailey a couple of times when she was bringing her own pup, Peyton, to be groomed
This past weekend, Marquita brought just Bailey. GM was so glad to see her! Bailey’s hair had grown very long, and was actually quite pretty, except for places like her head and face and feet, where it really needed trimmed. Even so, Marquita wanted her shaved short like she used to be. It seems Bailey will be staying with her while Bailey’s dad tries to sell his house.
Bailey was extra good for GM during the entire groom. Here she is, all finished up!
Isn’t she a pretty girl with big, pretty eyes?

Monday was such a pretty day that I finally didn’t have to wear a sweater or my hoodie when I went outside. I went to work with Mommy and got my exercise following her everywhere. And I was nice to the few people who came in, too. I got some of Mommy’s hot dog at lunch along with some of my apple and pumpkin treats!
I usually ride in the backseat of our electric car. When Mommy first got the car, she called our other car “Car A” and this one “Car B.” It quickly became like a living thing with a name: Carbee. Daddy bought Carbee a big cover for the back seat. It hooks onto the back and front headrests and also hooks over the back windows. (I also know how to get into the front seat if I want to, but I don’t usually want to.)
Anyhoo, Mommy took my picture in the back seat. She knows I love to have my picture taken.
I hope you are having a good week and wish you a happy Tuesday.

We often think about our big (angel) brother, Riley. Today, Mom saw his harness still hanging next to the door, beneath a safety jacket for walking in the dark. So we wanted to share a couple of pictures of him with happy memories. It is from 5 years ago today.
And another smile from almost 7 years ago: Lucy: Hey Xena, do you remember when you and Riley had the bed war? You took his bed, so…
…he took yours!
Xena: Yep, those were fun times (I think I won that particular battle, BOL!)
Wishing everyone lots of happy times to make into happy memories!

Hello! Ace Reporter Lucy here with a new groom for your reading and viewing pleasure. Today I would like to share with you an amazing transformation of a shih tzu who only gets groomed two times a year.
Coco is a very nice and good girl. She came to us looking like this.
Groomer Mom needed to wash her first, but knew that she’d never get all those mats dry enough to shave if she did. So she got started and, made good progress. Here is Coco with most of the shaving part done. Lots of hair had already hit the waste basket.
G. Mom would have never gotten through this without Coco’s cooperation. She seemed to know G. Mom was trying to help her. Finally, after everything was off or trimmed and bathed and dry, Coco was like a new pup.
Just look at those beautiful big eyes! Groomer Mom had a talk with Coco’s Mom about bringing her more often. We kind of doubt that’s going to happen, though.

It’s happy Tuesday and we are here to show you something that makes all three of us very happy…our supper! Oh, and thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
Lucy: It’s said a picture’s worth a thousand words, so here you go…
I got chicken wings and strawberries and orange pieces and spaghetti squash (no wonder Mom and Dad like spaghetti!). There’s also our green tripe with organs and bone ground into it. I also got some of the Ollie’s brand gently cooked fresh beef with sweet potatoes, peas, spinach, and chickpeas.
Chia: Me too! I got all that too! *whole body wags* It takes me longer to chew up my chicken wing than it does Lucy. But everyone respects that and they leave me alone. Except for Mom who stands there and watches. Hmm, I wonder if she’s wanting some?
Xena: My supper is special cause I’m the Princess.
I never get any yucky chicken. Instead, I got Ollie’s gently cooked FRESH TURKEY with blueberries, kale, butternut squash, and spinach! And I also got the delicious green tripe mix, oranges, strawberries and spaghetti squash!
Hi folks, Lucy, Ace Reporter here, with another episode of Grooming with Mom. Here here we are today with Gracie, an 8 month old Goldendoodle. Before we go any further, a shout out to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
These folks have been coming regularly to Groomer Mom since 2021. First they came with Sophie, who passed last year at age 16. Then they added Sammy, who is now 15 1/2 years old!
Miss Gracie was one of a litter of Golden doodles bred by an Amish family. She was six months old when he wonderful new family adopted her. And she is terrified of her new dad. He is a great guy, and it’s obvious that his other pups have always loved him. The only thing that anyone can figure is how the Amish man treated Gracie and her litter mates. We know that most of the Amish view their animals as, well, as animals. They are only sources of food or money. *sigh*
Back to the groom. G. Mom forgot (again) to take a “before” picture. Think of her hair down in her eyes and he rest of her hair a couple of inches longer. Here is Gracie, groomed.
Gracie was extra good on the table. She did try to jump off once, but the strap G. Mom used on her surprised her when she got pulled back. She didn’t try again. She didn’t even mind having her nails cut! Uh, oh. I hope I didn’t just remind Mom that mine are getting a tad long…
Ace Reporter, Lucy, signing off with another successful groom (and going to hide on the bed).
Hi friends!! *whole body wags* Miss Jentry came over last weekend and I’m always so excited to see her!!!!! She let me (just me) come out on the back porch with her and Andrew and baby-held me like Daddy does. Then she did something that I never had done before…she put color on my nails! And it wasn’t scary like when they get cut or dremeled either!
I feel beautiful.
Look, she even painted my dewclaws! Now I’m a pretty girl, just like Miss Jentry. *big wags*

It’s me, Xena, owner of this blog. It was willed to me by Angel Le… Chia: Blah, blah blah. Xena: …xi and it’s mine. Now that we have that established Chia, let’s get on with our story. If you remember, our front yard had grown into a jungle. We saw giraffes and monkeys and were being stalked by Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my! Well, at least by a tiger when Riley came and rescued us. He had heard the roar of a riding lawn mower starting up. Today…
The jungle and the critters in it all seem to be gone. I can still smell them, though. It’s sure hot and muggy (90% humidity) enough for it to be a jungle out here.
Wait, I’ve got a scent.
I think it’s a condor! I think it’s big and dangerous! *shudder* I’m gettin’ outa here.
…and then, Daddy, I chased it away. It was so big and scary!
Hey, Chia here. I had a harrowing time at the vet this week. Dad took me (where the h-e-double hockey sticks was Mom?). At first I was watching Xena shake and shiver and then I was watching Lucy try to make friends with everyone until… until…I saw my dachshund friend up on the ledge! How the h-e-double hockey sticks did BeMine, aka MiniMe, get up there, or get here at all?!
I went ballistic. I didn’t even hear Dad telling me to settle down and stop barking. I couldn’t take my eyes off BeMine, aka MiniMe.
Dad got me – still carrying on – and Xena – still shaking – out of there as soon as they were done stealing our blood for the DNA Heartworm test that Mom sends off to Canada. Lucy was in the back getting her blood stolen when Dad told the crew that he was going to take us to the car. He took us out the back way, probably so I couldn’t see MiniMe again…or was it MiniMe?
I sure am happy to be home, and that somehow MiniMe managed to get home, too, to cuddle with me.
Thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop and letting me tell my story with a happy ending!

Hi there, dear readers! I’m Lucy, Ace Reporter reporting on two pups coming to Small Dog Grooming for the first time. Their Mom found us, er, I mean found Groomer Mom, on the local Nextdoor App and was glad to have someone nearby to take care of her pups’ grooming needs.
Both pups are rescues and about eight years old. First, let’s take a look at Coco, a tiny five pound shih tzu. This is her “before” picture. (Guess her Mom had been looking for a new groomer for a while!)
Her Mom was very specific about how she wanted her groomed, including leaving her ears that long and the very different look of how her face was to be groomed. She wanted the whole top part shaved, and the lower sides and bottom part left long. Well, even though that went against the grain, so to say, with G.M., she did what was asked. By the way, Coco is a very sweet little girl and even gave G.M. a couple of kisses.
Here is Coco after her groom:
Next up is Coco’s adopted sister, Sophie. She’s a PomChi, and also only five pounds. She’s very much attached to her Mom and was a bit scared being left here. But Groomer Mom loved on her and talked sweet to her the whole time to try to help her feel ok. Here is Sophie’s “before” picture:
She’s also a precious girl, and asked G.M to hold her. She was only getting what G.M. calls a “mini-groom.” That’s when the pups get their nails cut, face, private areas and paws cleaned up. Her Mom also wanted some of the hairs sticking out around her “scruff” trimmed just a bit, as well as her ears. G.M. also slightly trimmed her legs. So, now, what you’ve been waiting for:
Their Mom was tickled, and later texted G.M. to tell her how much she loved their grooms. She said with the difference in price in what she had been paying (about half), she could get them groomed more often. (She also tipped G.M. very well!) G.M. will welcome these two sweet girls back anytime!
I finally got to go see Adam, who loves me lots! It’s been at least since Easter that I’ve been with him. I like to ride in my kennel in the back seat. It feels safe, and I can even nap if I want to on that 87 hour drive (Mom’s note: it’s less than hour). First place we went was to the Petco place. I admit, I did shake a little when we first walked in, but then I got to look at the guinea pigs and even a pet rat! And I got to sniff the treats and try on a new harness. It’s pretty nifty looking on me too, right?
Oh darn, the pretty part is on my tummy. Oh well.
Then we picked up some food and went to the Greenway up in Cleveland, Tennessee where Adam lives. They have a new dog park, so we went in there and I found out that Mommy also bought me doggie treats. Woohoo! There were two other little dogs there – the big dogs had their own dog park next door – but I wasn’t much interested. Pretty soon the trash and my poop were thrown in the big black can and all three of us went on a walk down a paved trail through the woods. There were a few dirt paths off the paved trail, and brother Adam wanted to ‘splore one. Off we went into the wilderness, dodging vines and poison ivy and slippery slopes. After a while the path disappeared. Oops! We had already walked what seemed like a long way, and Mommy didn’t really want to turn around. So out comes her phone with that Gee Pee Ess and it showed that the Greenway was to the South West. Hmmm. I thought the South West was where the cowboys live…along with some of my blogging friends.
Next, Mommy looks up and says, “The sun’s in the west right now, and it’s around 2:00 in the afternoon, so we should go this way,” and starts leading us through leaves and more vines and under branches and pretty soon, guess what? We ended up on the paved trail. It was a fun adventure, and yes, Mommy checked me over real good for ticks when we got home, and there weren’t any on me. Here’s me and Adam after we got back on the trail
I sure do hope I get to go again in a coupla weeks when Mommy goes back to visit with my big brother.
Thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop! (even if it was a happy Saturday that I saw my Adam)
Hi folks *wags* it’s me, Riley. Mom Amy said I should give you happy news that I’ve been doing better lately. You might already know that I’ve got an enlarged heart that presses on something called an ass off me gus* and I’ve also heard it called my wind pipe. Weird, huh? My Person Andrew has discovered two things. Thing 1: If I lay my head on the bolster, it keeps my airways open and I’m not waking up during the night coughing cause I’m struggling to breath. Thing 2: I breathe better when I don’t get too hot, and opening the bedroom window and turning on the fan helps a lot.
Mom Amy said, “Let’s show the folks you using your bolster.” So, here I am.
Sometimes the bolster rolls away from me, and when Mom Amy or MP Andrew picks it up, I lift my head for them to place it on my legs. I’ve also learned that if I sleep more on my side, that keeps the pressure off my windpipe and I’m getting more sleep and so is MP Andrew! Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Chia: Guess what me and Xena did on Sunday! Remember why Xe didn’t wanna do a Sunday selfie? No? It’s cause she knew she was going to Freestyle after a long time of not going and was real anxious to get there. And guess who else got to go…me!!!!!!!!!
Xena: Yep, wasn’t as good as just me and Mommy, but it sure was a lot better than not going. I was so excited, and Miss Julia asked me and Mommy to demonstrate a lot of things for the beginners. I got an A++++++! I remembered all of it, watched Mommy for cues and did it just right.
Chia: Yep, and I’m one of those beginners, so I watched real close so that when it was my turn with Mom, I would do it just right, too. And I mostly did! I even got to work off-leash some. Of course, there were treats involved.
Xena: Mommy brought a lot of CD’s home to listen to the music in my tempo (32 bpm) and Chia’s tempo (50 bpm). We’ll help her pick out the ones we like most. Then we’ll do things like help her with the movements. And Mommy will have to download the songs from the CDs and cut parts of it to be the right length for each of us. I’m going to perform in the top level this time, Level 4.
Chia: Mom’s still deciding if I’ll be a total beginner in Level 1 (on leash) or if I get to start in Level 2B (off-leash). We can’t do Level 2A because Mom’s already titled Lexi and Xena. I think I’m a 2B kinda girl! Hmmm, 2B or not 2B, that is the question…where have I heard that before…
Maybe next time we’ll have pictures of us at the Obedience Club where we’re taking our lessons.
Chia: In the meantime, I have something to tell y’all. I didn’t realize this until it happened, and now I know I’m absolutely the smartest dog in the neighborhood, maybe in the whole world.
I’m super smart!
Seriously! Here’s what happened:
Monday night I was standing in the bedroom with Mom who needed to get into “her” bathroom” and had given brother Andrew – who was in the jacuzzi tub - a 30 minute warning. An hour later she yelled through the door that she needed in there now! He said, “Just give me 30 seconds to get decent.” At that, Mom started counting the seconds out loud. You know… one, two, three, and so on. I had scratched at the door a couple of times to tell him to hurry up. Then, just as Mom said, “thirty,” I threw myself at the door and it opened. I know what Thirty means! It means open the @#*! door!!! And I did!!
*Wags* and many thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus, who is hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
Hey everyone! Did you see the what I got for Christmas? Yep, I got the praying bear, but I also got a half me. Mom and Dad think I’m half dachshund and half jack russell terrier. I got a dachshund stuffie!!
Mom, I’m sorry I chewed MeMine’s nose off. Is my nose still there? I mean, it’s only half me, right?
Anyhoo, Happy Tuesday! From me, Chia, and Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus, who is hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
