Xena’s Selfie with Lucy

Hi friends! It got cold here this past week, and Mommy would wake up with me shivering against her in the bed. Of course, that was only when I insisted in sleeping in my own bed, then would get cold and get in bed with Mommy. She always reminds me that if I started in bed with her that we would be cuddling under the covers and I wouldn’t get cold. But I’m a schnauzer. I want to do it my way.

So Mommy’s solution so that I could do it my way was to put my winter jammies on me. She made these just for me! They have sock monkeys on them, BOL!

Uh, Lucy, are you photo bombing me?

Lucy: Sorry Xe. You know I don’t like my picture taken. I was just walking through and got caught on camera.

Xena: OK, I forgive you. Hope everyone has a great Sunday, and thanks to The Cat on My Head for hosting Sunday selfies!

  1. Java Bean: “Ayyy, Xena, your jammies look so cute and warm! I won’t go under the covers either, even though I sleep in bed. But sometimes Dada pulls my blanket over me after I am asleep to help keep me warm.”
Lulu: “Yeah he just does that because when he puts his arm over you at night it gets chilly. Keeping you warm is just a side effect. Anyway, why don’t you just go under the covers? Your fur is short enough.”
Java Bean: “Got to stay where I can keep an eye out!”

  2. Hmmm, I’ve never noticed the smell of freshly dyed fabric. I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere that they dyed the cloth there! And no, there aren’t many stores left. Walmart and Hobby Lobby have become my go-to. I’m not that talented, LOL. And I don’t sew much anymore. Maybe when life slows down I’ll get back to it. But thank you for such a nice compliment!

  3. Wow!!! I got a lot of mileage out of my Singer sewing machine in high school. Made so many of my clothes. Even my prom dresses. I love that you sew!! I still love the scent of all the freshly dyed fabric in a fabric store, don’t you? There’s something so exciting about it. Unfortunately there aren’t many fabric stores left. Down here Walmart was the only one. Until we got a huge Hobby Lobby. You are incredibly talented!! Those jammies are precious!!! I honestly thought you bought them. 😮

  4. Well, you see, Miss Cecilia, first you have to go to the store and find a pattern, then you have to look at the material and pick out the sock monkey material. Then you have to go home and cut it and then sew it all together just right. Then you can wear sock monkey jammies, too! XOX Xena

  7. Love the sock monkey jammies!! Back in the early 60s when I was growing up everyone’s grandma made a sock monkey for them. Or it seemed that way, didn’t it? In elementary school I even sewed my own “sock doll.” My goodness, I loved her!! She was my fav, and we had many adventures together. 🩷 Ok, back to the jammies. How did you make those? Looks like an old sweater or sweatshirt that you cut down to size?
