Lucy’s Picture Poem and Thankfuls

Lucy: First,  I’m thankful for the picture by Angel Sammy And, as always I’m thankful for Angel Brian, who does such a great job at hosting Thankful Thursday.
Today I’m nine years and two days old.
Chia: Luce the Deuce, you’re not going to give your exact age every time you write a post, are you?
Xena: Most girls don’t tell their age. That’s what Mommy says.
Lucy: I’m proud of my age. I don’t look a day over eight! Anyhoo, as I was starting to say, this is my first poem at nine years old. Isn’t this just the sweetest picture? I think that’s how my Mom and Dad will be when they are 87 years old. Here we go…

Through the Eyes of Love by Lucy

We met a mere ten years ago and had no time to waste.
I knew I loved you, Geraldine, when first I saw your face.
Now on our anniversary I just want to say,
My love, you are more beautiful with every passing day.

Lucy: I think that’s the kind of love our folks have. It makes me happy, cause they love me and my sisters a lot, too. That’s my thankful this week.

Chia: I’m thankful that awful snow is gone. It was cold and wet and I didn’t like it at all. I hope it never comes back.

Lucy: But what about our brand new neighbors who have six kids? Mom told them they could sled down our big, steep front yard, and they were so happy. It made me wag!

Chia: True. And when brother Andrew went outside, one of them called him “sir.” BOLOLOL! He thought it was funny, too.

Xena: I’m thankful they don’t live with us. And I’m thankful Mommy finally opened up my kennel door so I could lay in there again.

Chia: What happened? Why’d she shut it? I couldn’t get in there either.

Xena: *hangs head* I wouldn’t listen to her. She told me to get out and come to bed, and I just laid there staring at her. I’d done that before, asserting my independence, ya’ know. But now I understand that I have to listen or there will be what’s called consequences.

Chia: What’re consequences?
Xena: Getting locked out of our, er my kennel!

All: Wishing everyone a happy Thursday! Lucy, Xena and Chia

  1. Awww, sweet Lucy. Such a beautiful poem and sentiment. We hope your parents enjoy that special kind of love forever.

Well Xenia and Chia…guess you two learned a valuable lesson about the kennel. Hopefully everyone will be on board with the rules. Glad your snow is gone. Stay warm.

  3. Lulu: “That was a great poem, Lucy! You definitely don’t look a day over eight and neither do I! By the way, our Dada says he used to go sledding on big hills all the time when he was a kid back in New York. Apparently he crashed into a tree more than once, too.”
    Chaplin: “Unsurprising.”

  4. Awwwww…..I really love your poem Lucy – it’s sweet and special JUST LIKE YOU ARE!!!! Good job. I also think it was nice of you and your Mom to let the new neighbors use your sled for fun. We have a hill in front of our house and when Mom and Dad first built the house and had their first winter here THEY would sled down the yard and walk back up and do it again, etc……..NOW they’re too old to hike back up the hill so no more sledding. Tee Hee

    Hugs, Teddy
