Hi folks, Lucy, Ace Reporter here, with another episode of Grooming with Mom. Here here we are today with Gracie, an 8 month old Goldendoodle. Before we go any further, a shout out to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
These folks have been coming regularly to Groomer Mom since 2021. First they came with Sophie, who passed last year at age 16. Then they added Sammy, who is now 15 1/2 years old!
Miss Gracie was one of a litter of Golden doodles bred by an Amish family. She was six months old when he wonderful new family adopted her. And she is terrified of her new dad. He is a great guy, and it’s obvious that his other pups have always loved him. The only thing that anyone can figure is how the Amish man treated Gracie and her litter mates. We know that most of the Amish view their animals as, well, as animals. They are only sources of food or money. *sigh*
Back to the groom. G. Mom forgot (again) to take a “before” picture. Think of her hair down in her eyes and he rest of her hair a couple of inches longer. Here is Gracie, groomed.

Gracie was extra good on the table. She did try to jump off once, but the strap G. Mom used on her surprised her when she got pulled back. She didn’t try again. She didn’t even mind having her nails cut! Uh, oh. I hope I didn’t just remind Mom that mine are getting a tad long…
Ace Reporter, Lucy, signing off with another successful groom (and going to hide on the bed).

MOL/LOL!! Yore so guud Lucy!! 😉

Thanks for linking. It was a rough, i.e. busy, day at work, so I never got to do it. 😉

Yes, and we think that’s what probably happened.

That was so smart. Good idea for me to suggest to Gracie’s folks.

So glad you had a good solution to your mighty mini Toto. Hopefully, this will also be solved.

Good reporting, L. Gracie is a beauty. Hopefully with time and love, she will get used to her dad and realize he is a part of her safe, patient, caring new family.
Love and licks,

another thought is , Amish are humans and come in all things, some of them even beat their wives and abuse their children, just like any other person does…

I saw a dog who was afraid of a man, and the man slept beside him for a few nights and it worked. maybe someone will no something like taking off a hat. we played games with baby to make her stop cringing when we got close, I tapped her and said woo woo woo, I am getting you in a silly singing voice and then I started to play with tapping her with broom and singing woo woo woo. got to be a way to fix that problem . G is adorable

Gracie you are such a sweet and beautiful pup. So here are my thoughts.
Our mighty mini dachshund Toto was very very much afraid of hats and brooms.
My Dad who was a big guy (6’3″) but a lover of all critters always wore a hats and or caps. Each time Toto saw my dad he would roll over on his back then pp in the air which landed all over him…(of course bath time). We finally started asking Daddy to take his hat off before coming it. Solved that problem 100%. As for the broom as he got older he would bark like crazy at the broom. Once he attacked it and that solved that fear. Kinda like the came Clue.
Hugs and may Gracie’s fears soon be banished from her brain

Dalton for sure can relate to the man thing…in his doggy mind all men are to be deemed evil…the more so if they are not sitting down. (The poor pups who have so much baggage from their former lives is so sad…)
Gracie looks all spiffy and ready to romp!
