Xena the Schnauzer: A Poem of Friendship and Fun

I’m thankful for Angel Brian, who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the picture every week. Let’s see what Angel Sammy has in store for us today (with me added in for effect!).

Teddy:
OMC! OMD!
A dog’s in my blog!
With those eyes and that beard
You’ve got me real scared!

Xena:
I’ve been sent by my Mom
To come play and have fun.
I’m not a mean terrier;
Just Xena Schnauzer Warrior.

Please don’t be afraid.
Let’s go hit the arcade!
Or we could chase critters
Or dine on pork fritters.

Whatever we do
I’ll defer to you
You’re my new friend
From now ’til the end.

Lucy: Bravo, Xena! It’s great to make new friends. We know that Teddy’s already our friend, so what a great poem. I’m thankful to have a sister like you.
Chia: Are you thankful to have a sister like me?
Lucy: Uh, I’m thankful for my sister.
Chia: Yay! You love me!!

Mom Amy: I also have a thankful or two. In the last two weeks, Jeff and I have gone to two big dances. One was a seven hour drive to Indianapolis. There was a live band and a huge dance floor in an amazing ballroom called the Rooftop. We even made some new dance friends with whom we sat at a front table. The other dance was much closer on Lookout Mountain, GA. After enjoying a delicious dinner, we danced to the music of Sweet Georgia Sound on another big dance floor. Jeff usually plays in that band…but he knows how to keep peace in our marriage. Which leads me to my next thankful….I’m most of all thankful for my husband, Jeff. He and I met 24 years ago while ballroom dancing and we still keep that spark alive in our marriage.

  7. Xena: Hmm, we see how Mom messed up and made it sound like it was their anniversary and that they’d been married for 24 years…
    They became DANCE partners 24 years ago. Then they got to be good friends. Then they fell in love and 4 years later got married. So they’ve been married, hmmm, let me use my toes to count…16 years!

  14. Yep, I got it. 😉 We used to be able to go dancing every night here in town (if we wanted to, that is), but now it’s only 1 or 2 times a month. So my sweet hubby rents and Air B&B and takes me out of town to dance!

  16. You have so many thankfuls today and that makes me feel thankful for you that you have thankfuls. did you get that? ha ha… I be the ginger cat freaked out when he saw you in the mirror, Xena.. I did not know about how you met your husband and this is a great way to meet and now you can still have fun dancing..

  21. Friends make all the difference in how we experience life these days-I think there are so many lonely people people right now. So happy that your parents continue to keep the spark alive by first being good friends. 💙

  25. What a wonderful poem – adorable from first line to last line!! We also think it’s wonderful that your Mom and Dad go to dances and have “their time” in addition to being home with you and having “Pup time”! Balance is the key. Thanks for being poetry partners with us – you always do such a GREAT JOB……..
