Let’s start off again with being thankful for Angel Brian, who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the picture every week! My sisters have so much fun doing the poetry for these pictures. I’m thankful that Xena let me do the poem for this week. Here we go…

The Man, the Dog and the Bird by Lucy
I’ll help you Dad, I’ll grab the cone
Before that evil bird has flown
To her nest with nestlings…
Oh, heck, she’s got goslings.
I just can’t take their food;
It doesn’t matter how good.
You can have my treat, Dad,
An orange that’ so sweet, and
If you’ll just give me half
We’ll think of the bird and laugh!
Xena: That sure does sound like you, Lucy. I’m thankful you are my sweet, gentle big sister. Remember how we used to play when I was a puppy. I’ve started playing again, with Chia. But if you want to play too, that would be lots of fun. *wags*
Lucy: Thanks, Xena. I’m also thankful that you’re my good little sister. We’ve always gotten along great, and there’s never been a feeling of competition between us.
Chia: Hey girls! What do you want to compete in today? Who gets the most treats? The most pets? First going through the door? Who gets to sit with Mom or Dad?
Lucy and Xena: *sigh* We hope everyone has a happy and thankful Thursday!
Chia: Me too! Me too!
The Mom: To be fair to Chia, along with her exuberant enthusiasm, she can also be a sweet, cuddly girl, even with her sisters – especially Lucy. And she is the only one who is empathetic with people; who can feel if someone is sad or hurting, and gently does her best to try to make that person feel better. I’m thankful today and every day for our Chia.
Oh, wow, Mom missed National Dog’s Day? We are all wondering what we didn’t get…oh, wait! Our new friend made us a ton of delicious, gluten free, organic cookies!!!

I didn’t realize that about her. And like my crazy cat, she’s the one who’s in trouble the most too? Bizarre, isn’t it? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

That is a great poem, and we think that cone might just have had half a chance with you, Lucy, BOL!
Chia, you are a silly, happy go lucky loveable pup! How sweet that you can empathise with your furmily members. Maybe cause you had a hard life once upon a time?

Your poem is just right, the birds have to eat, too.
It takes all kinds to make a family, just as it takes all kinds to make a world.

LOL!! Yes, I understand. But I have a hubby who cannot let a dog go once we start to care for it, unless, of course, we’re just keeping a friend’s dog for a while. And yes, she really is a sweetie pie, except sometimes when she gets jealous of Lucy.Chia makes us smile all the time and laugh a lot, too. Thanks for the kind words, Sandra. I hope you’re OK.

Maybe our dads would have given us some ice cream as a reward for being so good?? *wags* Lucy

I love my sisters. It would be very hard if I lost them, even if we don’t play anymore. I’m so sorry you don’t have Millie…it must be very hard on you and on your pawrents, too. Lucy

I didn’t know that about Chia. Empathetic pups are a blessing!! Only one of my cats is like that. The crazy thing is she’s the one I have to yell at the most. She’s always in trouble. It’s like she can’t help herself. 😹 On the other hand when I make a sound (when watching TV) that sounds like a distress noise, she’s all over me, worried, concerned, looking at me with a piercing stare to see how she can help. 😻

Java Bean: “Ayyy, giving up the ice cream? You’re a better dog than I am, Lucy!”
Charlee: “So you would still have taken it from the bird and brought it back to Dada?”
Java Bean: “Well, I would have taken it from the bird, anyway …”

That’s a great poem for that picture, Lucy. I would have tried to get that cone back so I could eat it. BOL!
You are so lucky to have your sisters to play with. I sure do miss Millie even if we didn’t play together much these past few years.

Lucy! What a great poem you wrote for Poetic Thursday! When Mom and I found that photo my first thought was “if that man went out in public with that treat of his of course it was fair game to a passing bird” ! If he didn’t want to share he should have eaten it in his car. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Hugs, Teddy
