This couch pillow is near the top of the list of places that me and Xeboo (I know, I know, Xena, don’t call you Xeboo) vie for. Even Lucy tries to take this one over! And sometimes it’s a hard decision whether to get in Dad’s lap, lay next to Mom, or grab this favored spot in the living room. But today, I’m Queen of the Couch Pillow!

Your best friend, Chia!
Mom Amy: Chia came to us at seven months old and has been with us for a little over four years. I’ve never had a dumb dog, and I truly believe that Chia is only rivaled by Angel Lexi for being the smartest. We have to be careful to not allow her in situations where she can run off, which unfortunately restricts her from doing some things the other dogs get to do . But one thing I know for sure…her big heart overflows with love and caring (even though she shows it in strange and annoying ways to Lucy!). We wouldn’t trade her for anything!
Java Bean: “All hail the Queen! Long may she snooze!”

Yes, she does. And yes, sure can be challenging! A neighbor told me she used to have a Jack Russell, and he never slowed down until he died at age 16. (We think she’s half J.R. and half dachshund.)

I remember when we both knew how much we loved her. A new pet-sitter was taking care of her for our Ft. Wayne, IN trip, a few years ago. She called us as we were driving to let us know Chia had gotten away from her and run off, and that she would keep looking for her. She called her friends and my son and stayed home from work, and no one could find her. Jeff and I drove in silence the rest of the way as we cried and prayed for her. The next day the neighbor called and said she was walking up our driveway. He went over and let her in the back door. We knew then she was absolutely our dog forever.

She’s such a cutie. We can fully understand why she’s so loved in your household.

That’s such a sweet picture of Chia. Sometimes the smart ones are the most challenging. She also seems to have a strong prey drive. All of our dogs have had strong prey drive and were only allowed off leash in our securely fenced backyard.

I remember when she came to you and the thoughts you had of should we keep her, and now she is a treasure… I also remember thinking for those first few months or a year, what were they thinking and now we know you made the right decision. Love you Chia… Love you Lucy Love you Xena..

Happy Monday, to mom Amy, Queen Chia, Xena, and Lucy!! In my house there are no queens. It’s always Jeremiah trying to be “King of the hill.” 🤣 Hope your week is a blessed one!!
