Xena: Hey there, friends, why don’t we start off with our thankfuls, right?
Chia: I’m thankful that the kids next door are going to take care of us while Mom and Dad are gone to Helen, Georgia this weekend for their wedding anniversary.
Xena: *panicking* They’re going away? Oh no! I wonder if I can go. How did you find out? Why didn’t you tell me? Mommy! Mommy! Where’s my Mommy?!
Lucy: I’m thankful that Mom didn’t die when she fell off the curb at the city Oktoberfest last weekend. Her hobbling around here all week was bad enough. It’s nice, though, that they are still going to have a good time at the Oktoberfest there. And don’t worry, Xena, they’re only going to be 3 hours away.
Xena: THREE HOURS!
Chia: Guess I’d better take over. Here’s the picture Angel Sammy gave us for today:

Don’t Go Here! by Chia
This is a horrible scene,
The worst that I’ve ever seen.
I can’t read the signs;
There sure should be fines
For no view of the road or skylines!
The end
Lucy and Chia: We hope everyone has a fun, Oktoberfest kind of weekend (with no injuries). And don’t worry about Xena. She’ll jump in Miss Clare’s lap when she comes over to spend time with us after feeding us. I-Chia- might try sitting in shy Miss Lucia’s lap this weekend! (She’s Miss Clare’s little sister.)
Your poem is just right, I’m not going there without a tour guide and a good insurance policy!

Thanks friends! She danced polka and swing at the Oktoberfest, and it didn’t HELP her foot, but it didn’t hurt it too bad either (so she says). XOX Xena

I’m so glad your foot is feeling better. But an oozing ouchy knee is not good. I’m so sorry!! I guess you’ll just have to let other people do your work for you a little longer. Hey. Sounds good to me!! 🤣 Wow. I’m totally in love with Clare and I haven’t even met her. What an outstanding young lady!!! Sounds to me like a future rescue worker or groomer or both in the making. Hope you have a blast on your anniversary trip. After what you’ve been through with this fall, you deserve to be pampered!! 🩷

Hope Mom makes a complete recovery, and I am sure y’all will recover nicely from Mom being away for a spell. It sounds like you’ll keep pretty busy and the time will fly by, so enjoy your weekend!

The Mom: I really will miss my baby (Xena) as much or more than she misses me. I always do!
Chia: Thanks, Sunny, I plan on it. The kids always take me for walks, woo hoo!

Thanks for the good wishes. My foot is still a little swollen but it doesn’t hurt. I’ve been trying to stay off it as much as possible (which works good for getting people to wait on me and do my running around, LOL!) It’s my scraped up knee on the other leg that still hurts and is oozing (I know, TMI). Xena doesn’t really get separation anxiety, although now I realize that’s what it sounded like. She just wants to be with me all the time. In fact, she warmed up to 15 year old Clare and sits with her and throws herself back in her arm. It’s made Clare go on a campaign with her parents to be allowed to have one of the schnauzers their friend’s dog just birthed! I’m pretty sure they’re giving in, and Clare is already working on an Amazon list. She’s also determined to make enough money around the neighborhood to be able to take care of the little guy the same way I take care of Xena – all natural. She’s a really good kid.

Xena, I had no idea you have separation anxiety. Bless you!! But don’t worry. I think Chia will keep you occupied (more like distracted) with her mischievous antics. 😆 And I’m so sorry your mommy had a fall and injured her ankle!! I know how aggravating and painful that is. I fell down the stairs (one of my cats tripped me) about 7 years ago and injured my foot so badly I ended up being wheeled into the ER in a wheelchair and spent the next two weeks hobbling around with a brace on my foot and a cane. I hope she has a pain-free trip this weekend with no new injuries. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! 🩷
