Chia’s Trip to the Vet

Hey y’all, it’s me, Chia. Spoiler Alert: I’m OK.
Dad was holding me. Speaking of which, why can’t Xena just give up and get down. I squished her against the chair arm as hard as I could and she still wouldn’t budge. Not only that, but Dad was watching TV and not paying attention to me. Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth what all I have to go through to make it a special time just between the two of us.

Hey Dad, make her get down so we can have our special time together.

Anyhow, Xena finally got down and I got situated better. That’s when Mom saw a crusty lump under my right arm. She got really upset and then she saw the same “crusty lump” on the top of my back left foot.

Arrow pointing at lump under my arm.

The next morning (Tuesday) she called the vet and made an appointment for Thursday (their next available appointment). So here’s the good news. The vet right away said it wasn’t cancer. She thought it was a bacterial infection from the germs in my mouth when I would lick those spots. But why was I licking them? (I won’t tell.) Or she thought it might be a fungal infection like ringworm. So off go the room lights and on comes this special light that makes fungus glow in the dark. Guess what glowed in the dark…no, not my lumps….my nail polish, BOL! That sure got everyone laughing. I like laughing, it’s a happy sound. Now I’m supposed to be taking an antibiotic type pill every day but instead I’m just getting an extra treat of almond butter that no one else gets. Wow, this sure worked out OK! The only part of it I don’t like is Mom spraying this liquid stuff on those places. It’s got an antibacterial and a topical steroid in it. But I don’t like it. In fact, I hate the taste of it, so I have refused to lick those spots to help them heal. That oughta teach ’em!! Now the hair has started growing back and the lumps are getting smaller. Guess I’m gonna live.

I’m kinda worn out, so I’m calling it a night. Sweet dreams, friends. Your buddy, Chia
