Sorry this isn’t a “fun” post. It’s me, Amy. I felt led to send out a warning to all of you, my blogging friends. Today someone new subscribe to my site. Happens all the time, right? Then of course, the info was right there to look at his site. So I did. And I knew by the loop it put me in that something wasn’t right, so I closed it. Too late.
Several hours later “Google” and “McAfee” kept popping up, saying that my computer was infected with malware and telling me to click on a button on the pop up. I was wary, so I just closed the pop ups. They came right back! No matter how many times I closed them, they just popped right back.
Thank goodness my hubbie is an experienced IT guy. He knew I didn’t have McAfee and that what was popping up was the malware from the earlier site. He got it all off my laptop and everything’s OK now.
If a “like” or “following” comes from “calebchrt at gmail”, delete it. And go into your website and delete him from following you.
This whole thing really bothers me beyond it infecting my computer. WordPress emails me notifications when someone new is following me. I almost always go check them out. I have many bogger friends who began following me, and who , in return I followed. Now I don’t know what I’ll do when someone new “follows” my site. *sigh*
Just be careful. There’s a lot more like “caleb” out there.
Now, to end on a happier note. Enjoy!
