Riley and Lucy: We’re both thankful that Xena didn’t run out onto the road and get hurt or worse.
Xena: I’m thankful I got to go to work with Mommy again.

Riley: Psst, Lucy. Watch this.

*Shouting* Hey, Xena, you gotta come out and see this! There’s a family of chipmunks running all around the mailbox.

Xena: Where? I don’t see any chippies.

Riley: Maybe you need glasses. Or maybe you’re just not close enough!

Lucy: *whispering* Riley, that was mean. She’s actually going to check it out.

Riley: Bwahahahahaha! She fell for it.

87 seconds later

Wait, where’d she go?

Lucy: I think I saw her cutting across the yard, running toward the woods chasing something. It’s hard to tell on this hill.
Riley: Cr*p. Now we’re in trouble.
Lucy: Not as much as if she’d gone out on the road! Oh wait, she’s back.

Mommy sure was mad, but I don’t understand why she was mad at Riley and Lucy and not me. Oh well. Lucy got grounded so I got to come to work with Mommy! Maybe I should chase chippies into the woods more often…

  11. I don’t go near the road, Miss Susan, unless i’m on a leash. Chia feels great but still has to stay “confined” so she doesn’t jump on/off furniture. She’s HATING it! XOX Xena

  14. Miss Monika, I know better than to run into the street! Every day when I walk down to the mailbox with Mommy, I wait way back in the yard or driveway to make sure she gets the mail safely then I turn around and run back up to look for critters! XOX Xena

  16. It’s true Miss Sandra, but then I wouldn’t get to ‘splore! I’m usually in the back yard or up by the house and I ALWAYS come when Mommy calls me. But yes, we all know what you’re sayin’. XOX Xena

  27. Whew, sounded like a close call. Glad everyone is safe but I think it’s unfair to ground Riley and Lucy for something Xena did. Just saying. But I’m a sucker for big dog follies. Hope Xena had a good visit at Mama’s workplace. You guys stay safe, ok and stay away from those naughty chippies-they’ll get you into trouble every. single. time. 🐿️

  29. trouble times 3, next time tell her it was not your fault, your were off leash in an unfenced yard. beau said to tell you he has never been unfenced or off leash..so far in the past 3 weeks, 2 houses down from us has been a smashed by car possum, duck and a squirrel. common occurence where we live and makes me so sad.. we are thankful all three of your are safe and sound…
