Chia: Mommy was sitting at her desk at work yesterday when she heard a noise at the window next to the outside door. When she got up to see what it was, she saw a large puppy scratching at the glass. As she approached the window, the puppy saw her and, frightened, started to run away. The church is on a very busy street (which is why Chia isn’t allowed to go). So Mommy went outside and started called to the puppy. She got down low and gently urged the pup to come to her. It took a while, but with patience and perseverance, Mom was able to extract her from beneath the rose bush. Two things to note here: there is black mulch under the rose bush and Mommy wore her white pants to work yesterday.
Moving on….Mommy got my car kennel from the car and put the puppy in it in the office. She posted a picture on NextDoor and asked the owner to contact her. At closing she hadn’t gotten an email, so she emailed Daddy (with a picture) and asked him what he thought she should do. “Bring her home!” was his answer. On the way home they stopped at a vet clinic to see if she’s microchipped, and she is not. (Mommy could tell Daddy was glad, BOL!) You see, Daddy had a Husky years ago and loves the breed. So Mommy’s gonna keep checking her work email over the weekend to see if anyone responds. She’ll make them tell her their name and what vet they use for the puppy, and then she’ll follow up with the vet to be sure it really is their puppy.

In the meantime, puppy had what we think, by her response to it, her first bath. She got a packet of our Ollie turkey food and gobbled it up. (He, he, I made a funny.) We have found out that she likes balls and anything that she can chew on, and that she is not housebroken. She’s friendly but a little shy yet. She and Chia have taken turns going into the play position, and other play gestures. But Chia’s just a little too forward and rough for the puppy, and it scares her. We think she’s under 3 months old.

And Lucy, being the gentle soul that she is, has been kind to her.

I saw Chia whispering in Lucy’s ear, and it turns out she asked Lucy to help her show the puppy how they play.
Even Riley welcomed the puppy. He took a good look at her and woofed, “Not a schnauzer. She can stay.”
Friday early morning Update: Not shy. Me and Chia are trying to put her and her sharp baby teeth in her place, but are now hiding, er, I mean have now retired to Daddy’s office. Mommy, is it safe to come out yet? Is she outside? In my kennel? Yep, she’s caged. I can hear her whining.
So, that’s what’s going on at our house this weekend. Mommy just checked her work email, and no one is claiming her. *sigh* It’s going to be a long weekend. Glad I’m leaving for my Freestyle practice this afternoon.
I am Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Yep, she is, until she gets fed up with me and throws me on my back, but then I just get up and ask throw myself at her harder!! XOXOXOX Chia

You’re very sweet to take the puppy’s needs into consideration – puppies have so much energy and it helps if there are little kids or young pups around to help “dispense” all that energy. I’m sure everything will work out whatever happens…..!!

Mom suggests you list this adorable bundle of fur on pawboost.com under found dogs. Mom says she sure would want to keep her, but she knows if she happens to be lost, her humans are frantic. Has she been spayed? If she is that young, you’d probably still be able to see a scar. With that in mind, you might be able to identify her through a local vet, shelter or rescue. Good luck. You mightfiind a husky rescue that can help. I thinks lot of people got huskies during the Gamr of Thrones excitement – and then discovered they couldn’t handle it properly. Or ended up with accidental breedings. If you are not high energy enough for this pup, you are all going to be miserable. And the dog will not get what he needs. You’ve gotten him off the streets! 🎉 buy it may be time to pass him on to other capable hands.

She needs someone to run or jog with her for at least a half hour or more a day, more the older she gets. Mommy and Daddy said they’re too old for all the care she’s going to need. Now the hunt for a young, energetic person to love and keep her is on! XOX Xena

Wow! How on earth did that sweetheart get out there…but she knew somnehow that there could be a safe haven in the church, and she was right!!
I hope that she’ll be either properly claimed…and the reason for her runabout explained…or that she’ll either stay with you all, or find a great forever home with a younger person/family.
Don’t worry little one,. you are safe now, and that’s what counts!!

So exciting to have a new baby in the house. I can’t imagine somebody losing that pup and not looking for him like crazy. Good luck with whatever plays out. Can’t wait for an update.
Love and licks,

How funny!! Dog trainers say huskies are the most difficult dogs to train because they don’t think like a dog. They are actually cats in a dog body (which explains a lot about their headstrong, frustrating behavior). I have a friend who adopted a husky during COVID and she would agree with all of that 100%. Lol!! However she would also say she adores her crazy husky girl and wouldn’t trade her for the world. I’m glad your husband has experience with huskies. He will know the best ways to train her. I hope. 🤣

Oh my goodness! Some things were just “meant to be” – that puppy is so adorable and how sweet that your Mommy rescued her from the scary outside and street and possibly mean people…..I vote YES for you to keep her. (easy for us to say right?!) Hopefully that initial enthusiasm from the other pups that is wearing off will come right back and your pack will have expanded permanently. We just know she would be not just lucky to have you all as her family but she would be happy too. Keep us posted!!!!!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

IF we keep her. Looing more and more doubtful… even the dogs have changed their minds about her, LOL!

No name. We are reconsidering keeping her if not claimed. I found out how much exercise Huskys must have every day, and I don’t think either of us are up to that. Jeff was at least 30 years younger with his other husky.

Dog # 5 has arrived!!! he he he… it could be someone put it out, because people get puppy’s and think they come knowing how to pee outside and not knowing they chew everything in sight. we only had one puppy and it took two years for him to stop chewing and leaving him in a kennel if we left home… must not be a great owner with not chip or way to ID him. do we have a name yet
