I was just thinking about all the yummy food I get to eat. Besides all the meat -that is always my favorite – I eat steamed broccoli and turnip greens and kale and mustard greens and carrots. I get pickled beets and sauerkraut and tiny tomatoes and kala…, er, Mommy how do you spell those olives? k-a-l-a-m-a-t-a. Yep, that’s them. And eggs, yep don’t forget them eggs. Mmmm. And coconut oil and krill oil and sardines, too. And fresh fruit when we can get it, like berries and apples and and applesauce, too. And pumpkin and other squashes. Can you tell I like to eat? Mommy says I wouldn’t be a schnauzer if I didn’t love food.
Lucy: Xena, I thought there was something else you wanted to show our friends.
Xena: Oh, you mean the picture from when you ran off and almost missed getting our special picture made!
Lucy: No, no there’s no pictures of me running off!
Xena: But that’s what the picture always reminds me of when I look at it. That’s the day you got double grounded. Hey, are you still double grounded?
Lucy: I don’t know. *hangs head* Mom and Andrew never let me out to run around loose in the yard any more. *mumbles* I think that’s why Riley dumped me.
Xena: What are you mumbling about Lucy?
Lucy: Nothing! Just drop it, OK?
Xena. OK, it didn’t sound interesting anyhow. So, here is our family picture!

I am Xena the Schnauzer Warrior Princess.
Hi Mr. Purrince Henry. I love my Mommy’s smile! My Daddy is Mr. Jeff. Andrew is my peeps brother. And yes, my Daddy is a very kind person. Even more than my Mom. 🙂

You sound like my Mommy. She also said she’d rather put her money into good food for us than giving it to the vet. Oh, and I got eggplant today, Yum! ~Xena

Your confusion is understandable. The synopsis is that I found Riley and adopted him when he was 6 months old. Four years ago my son moved in and lived downstairs in the in-law suite. While he was here for two years, Riley chose him. My son took him when he left. When my son moved back in a year ago, Riley came with him. But he is still my son’s dog and will be moving out again soon. Hope that helps. 🙂

We is a little confoosed looking back at the family photo. Where’s Riley? I thought he was part of your pack but we is new to your blog so that is why we is confoosed. Maybe he is photo shy?

Amy here. My schnauzers have always seemed to have iron-lined stomachs! But a lot of Lucy and Xena’s bodies accepting it is that they don’t eat kibble or starches or any processed foods at all. They are on the raw diet, I used to think people were crazy feeding raw meat to their dogs and cats, but after losing dogs to cancer and reading tons about it, I feel it is the best thing I can do for their health. 🙂

The Andy and Dougy, the kitty boys, are amazed you eat such a varied diet and your tummy handles it OK! Andy in particular is pretty much limited to chicken-based dry food and chicken pate, so Dougy eats the same diet. It’s really weird, though, if Andy’s allergic to something, the insides of his ears turn reddish!.
Xena and Lucy are looking really pretty in that family portrait!

Mustard greens and collard greens that I also like are milder than spinach, which I also love. Sometimes Mommy puts other stuff on top of them for me, like krill oil or pumpkin or coconut oil or vinegar. Yes, they are only grown in the South. I don’t know why so don’t ask. I used to get the squirts when I first switched to this diet, so Mommy stopped feeding me the foods that caused it. Now I can eat everything, even dear deer!

mew, mew…you look so happy in your photo with Lucy and your parents. You eat a whole bunch of different foods….good for you. We stick pretty close to kitty food. Occasionally, I’ll clean up mom’s plate but we are kinda picky and if a peep food doesn’t sit right….we barf. Mom doesn’t like cleaning this up so sticks mostly to kitty food.
Mom wants to know what mustard greens are? Can we grow them in the veggie garden? Sounds like a veggie from the south. I doubt we have seeds for them. Are they good or do they taste like mustard?
