Picture Poem Thankful Thursday

First, many thanks to Angel Sammy for the challenging picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Rafting to Death by Riley

I went on a rafting trip with the boys;
I was told don’t bring any bones or sharp toys.
The river was smooth and warm on my paws;
I was careful about not using my claws.

We suddenly flew over a small cliff
Way up in the air my hiney did lift.
I screamed like a girl, waiting for the rebound.
We landed in rapids; someone yelled, “Touch down!”

I almost flew out then hung on for dear life.
I even had glimpses of the afterlife!
Dear God, save me, get me out of this mess
And in your church I will never more piss!

(Oh, wait, that was Lucy.)

Lucy: Riley! You promised!

Riley: Nope, that was Xena who promised not to tell on you. You just told on yourself, my friend. I’m thankful it wasn’t me! And I’m thankful I got to visit with my Auntie Jen over the weekend and sleep in the bed with her while she was here. After she left, My Person Andrew came back over to stay with me. I’m so thankful he does that. I’ll be sleeping in the bed with him until Tuesday when he has to go back home. Then Lucy will sleep with me (if she’s not mad at me, but she doesn’t know how to hold a grudge.) With my enlarged heart and all the coughing and trouble breathing, it makes me feel better to have someone sleep with me.

Well, that’s it for today. *big wags* Riley

Lucy Ace Reporter with Lucy

Lucy, Ace Reporter here on the Groom Beat with happy news of a new groom.

There’s another dog named Lucy in town. Can you believe that? Only this one is a red miniature poodle. She lives a half hour away from us, and Groomer Mom forgot to ask how she found out about Small Dog Grooming. *sigh* Groomer Mom also did not take a “before” picture. *sigh* But she said that Lucy (the poodle, not me) had hair hanging down over her face and hair all over her little poodle paws, and so on.

Lucy’s Mom didn’t want Lucy’s coat cut at all just a good brush-out. So Groomer Mom “cleaned up” Lucy’s face and paws and tail and private parts and gave her a good bath with a blow-out. What do you think?

Lucy was a “wild child” on the grooming table. She kept trying to crawl onto Groomer Mom’s shoulders and she licked G. Mom in her mouth and in her eye. Then Dad came downstairs to ask G. Mom something, and G. Mom had to go upstairs to find it for him, so Dad sat down on the grooming stool and talked to Lucy while G. Mom was gone. Lucy laid a good lick on him and tried to crawl on his shoulders, too! You can’t tell from the picture, but if she didn’t have all the hair, she’d be about the same size as our Xena. Her Mom’s already made the next appointment, and we’re looking forward to seeing Lucy again!

Lucy Ace Reporter signing off with another successful groom.

Lucy and Chia on Poetic Thankful Thursday

Lucy: This is supposed to be my month to most of the blog posts, but everyone else has been taking over ’cause I don’t like my picture taken. So for today, I made a deal with Chia. I’ll let her be in the picture – with a by-line – and then I get to do the poem. Oh, and she also gets to do a thankful or two.

First, many thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Now, here’s the picture Angel Sammy gave us to work with and then my poem!

Human or Beast by Lucy, with Chia helping with the visual
Human or beast, I’m questioning.
I see a long tail, but no sight of it’s “thing.”
I’m sniffing it’s butt; no odor at all!
If I push real hard, I might make it fall!!

Sniffing up higher…yep, woman for sure.
I live with my Mom and know that odor.
I’ve got it all solved! The beast is cement.
The broad’s on it’s back with a coat like a tent.

Lucy: Since it was Chia in the picture I pretended she was here writing the poem. I think I did pretty good at that. I’m thankful to have you as my friends. Everyone is always so nice to me. *wags* And as you’re reading this I’m probably at the church visiting with Pastor. Mom said she hopes I’ve learned my lesson, and I think I have.

Chia: I like getting my picture taken, just like Xena!

Sis Xena isn’t gonna be too happy about not going to work with Mom every day, but eh bien, right Nelly? I’m thankful to be allowed to sleep under the covers with Mom and Dad. Sometimes I’m in sleeping with Andrew and Riley, and that’s really great, too! And I’m thankful that Dad has started taking me for walks again! And I’m really thankful for my sister Lucy. She’s my BFF (even though I don’t always treat her real nice). But I do love her and cuddle and sleep with her, too, during the day.

Guess that’s all for now, friends. Love and *wags* and *wiggles,* Lucy and Chia

Xena Went to the Chiro on Awww Monday

So Mom found a new chiropractor and he works on dogs. He was even interviewed on TV once about it!

Of course, she hauled me in there. She said it wouldn’t hurt and that he would talk my ears off. Note to self: hang onto my ears.

And then I had to wait and wait and wait. I could hear him talking someone else’s ears off.

Mommy, I don’t think he’s coming. Maybe we should just go home. Isn’t it time for supper? Oops, here he comes.

I have to get on the table? Is there food up there? A good view? Oh, OK. Just don’t talk my ears off.
Why am I here? Well, you see, I’ve been diagnosed with luxating patella in both my knees. Sometimes one of them pops out while we’re on a walk and I have to hop and shake that leg to get it to go back in. And sometimes they take turns popping out during the walks, depends on how far we’re walking and how hard the walk is and how I slept on them the night before. Sometimes it helps to get treats as we go and so Mommy always needs to carry a lot of treats in one of her empty poop bags. And I’m here cause Mommy put me in the car and brought me here, not cause I wanna be here. But I’m here, so do what you do except don’t make my ears fall off. And then I’ll go home and get my supper.

Dr. C: My goodness she talks a lot. And why did she say to not make her ears fall off?

The Mom: She’s a schnauzer.

Thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Awww Monday!

Lucy Ace Reporter with Sad News

It’s been a long time, folks, but your Ace Reporter is back and ready to give you all the details on all of our new grooms.

Groomer Mom informed me that she has been getting in new clients, but has kept forgetting to let me know. In light of that, I am starting a Grooming With Mom series. Today, though, I want to pay tribute to the terrible loss of one of our regular and favorite pups, sweet little JoJo. Two days ago she was viciously attacked in her own yard by a Great Dane. She didn’t stand a chance. We have shed many tears over this senseless violence, and send prayers up for her grieving Mom.

Rest in peace, dear JoJo.

If you’d like to read a little more about JoJo, you can follow this link.

This is Lucy signing off….

Lucy’s Poetry on Valentine’s Day

Thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week. We’re posting a day early because of what today is! I don’t think Angel Sammy will mind. *wags*

The pup on the left represents me, Lucy. Now for my Valentine poem.
My Heart Belongs to Achilles    by Lucy

No, Brutus, you can’t kiss me
My heart belongs to Achilles.
I thought we were just playing
E’en though you gave me lilies.

Achilles is my boyfriend
The dog I’ve always dreamed of
If only we lived closer
All would know we’re so in love.

But Lucy, you wagged your tail.
You can’t do that to a male
And expect to walk away.
Look at me and don’t say nay.

I won’t look at you, you bad boy,
And I wasn’t being coy.
My Valentine awaits me.
I go now to mon cheri!

Xena’s Screenshot Sunday Selfie

Does your Mom carry a picture of you everywhere she goes? My Mommy does!

Look at the fancy decorations on my picture. She needs to get that stuff off my face though. And Swipe to open? Oh! That must mean like when someone swipes the food off the counter and it makes me open my mouth to catch it. I think that might happen a lot today since it’s Super Bowl Sunday and the only day the folks eat tons of yummies in the living room. Hope your team wins!!

Happy Sunday, everyone, and thanks to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!

Thankful Thursday with Lucy’s Poem

Thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Chia’s had her month-long shot, and now it’s my turn. Don’t know how long it will last, but I’m thankful for being the next one in line. Here’s the picture Angel Sammy gave us to work with.

Lucy Teaches Cooking

I can’t yet read a book
But I’m learning how to cook.
Can’t read a recipe
But my Lucy’s teaching me!

First, mixing is my goal,
Then Lucy licks the bowl.
Pour it in the pan
Cook as  fast as I can.

Then throw it over there
Lucy, catch it in the air!
I threw it the wrong way!
Hurry Luce! Let’s go play!

Please tell Mom how what a great poet I am so I can do this every week this month, OK, friends?
Oh, and I am thankful for all of you who make me feel so good with all the nice things you say. And I’m thankful for my brother Riley. He’s getting old and won’t play with me anymore, but that’s ok. He’s still my buddy.

Your tail wagging friend, Lucy

Chia’s Poem and Thankful Thursday

Thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Hey there, friends! You may – or may not – have noticed that I’ve gotten to do the posting for a whole week long! It’s been a blast! (Mom says it helps keep me outa trouble.)

But all good things must come to an end…or at least slow down for just a bit. So here’s my last post before my brother and sisters get their turns…for maybe weeks…who knows?! **wiggles**

Partying (or Tie Up Your Boat Better)  by Chia

We found a little island in the middle of the river.
I said, “Let’s stop and drink some booze e’en though it kills your liver.”
We drank and laughed and barked and howled until we all fell over.
Didn’t notice when the river round the island moved in closer.
Or when the boat we all came on broke free to float down river.

We fell asleep and spent the night til we all had to pee.
The boat was gone, and snapping turtles waited in the lee.
I saw some ducks who had no legs attached below the knee,
I knew I wasn’t jumping in – didn’t want that to be me!
Finally our pawrent appeared to rescue all us three!

The End

Now I’m passing the keyboard over to Xena who’s got some thankfuls today. Take it away, galfriend!
Xena: Uh, thanks, Chia. I am sorry for Lucy who lost her church privileges for reasons I have sworn to her to keep secret. But I am thankful that I have been chosen to be the new church dog as long as I don’t pee on the carpet.

I pooped in the room next to the office, but that was easy to clean up and I was only in a little bit of trouble. Now Mom’s taking me out to potty more often. The treats are good and it’s a good gig if you can get it (and not lose it, Loosy!)

Your friends, Chia Mia and Xexe

Chia: Pee Ess, when do I get to go to the church with Mom?
Everyone: NEVER!!

Mom’s note: Chia would be a great church dog if she didn’t have the chance to run out the door that’s just outside of my office and get squished on a very busy road!

Chia the Mover on Awww Monday

I wanted to see outside. I was tired of the same old view through the windows while sitting on the loveseat. It was very limiting. I saw the chair at Mom’s desk. It even had a nice soft pillow on it. So I moved it over and positioned it so I could sit in it and watch out the window.

Oh, hi Mom. Not doing anything, just the usual neighborhood watch. How’d the chair get over here? I put it here. What’s the big deal? You weren’t using it.

Sure, you can take my picture for Awww Monday. I get a treat for it, right? And tell everyone I said “Hey!”

Many thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Awww Monday!

Thankful Thursday Poem

I’ve been thinking about Achilles lately. He’s all alone there with the pigs and his pawrents, but not with me to give him my sweet love. So here’s the (plagiarized) poem to go with the picture. I hope you don’t mind me not being too original.

My Boyfriend’s Back  by the Angels and revised by Lucy

He went away and you hung around
And bothered me, every night
And when I wouldn’t go out with you
You barked things that weren’t very nice

My boyfriend’s back and you’re gonna be in trouble
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)
You see him comin’ better cut out on the double
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)
You been barking lies that I was untrue
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)
So look out now ’cause he’s comin’ after you

He’s been gone for such a long time
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)
Now he’s back and things’ll be fine
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)
You’re gonna be sorry you were ever born
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)
‘Cause he’s kinda big and he’s awful strong
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)

(You’re a big dog now but he’ll cut you down to size
(Wait and see)

My boyfriend’s back he’s gonna save my reputation
(Hey-la-day-la my boyfriend’s back)
If I were you I’d take a permanent vacation
(Hey-la, hey-la, my boyfriend’s back)

I’m thankful for my Achilles! He’s the best.

This is a moment that will always be with me. I love to cuddle with my boyfriend. He really is “kinda big and awfully strong.”

I’m also thankful to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Happy Tuesday with Xena and Chia

Chia: Guess what me and Xena did on Sunday! Remember why Xe didn’t wanna do a Sunday selfie? No? It’s cause she knew she was going to Freestyle after a long time of not going and was real anxious to get there. And guess who else got to go…me!!!!!!!!!

Xena: Yep, wasn’t as good as just me and Mommy, but it sure was a lot better than not going. I was so excited, and Miss Julia asked me and Mommy to demonstrate a lot of things for the beginners. I got an A++++++! I remembered all of it, watched Mommy for cues and did it just right.

Chia: Yep, and I’m one of those beginners, so I watched real close so that when it was my turn with Mom, I would do it just right, too. And I mostly did! I even got to work off-leash some. Of course, there were treats involved.

Xena: Mommy brought a lot of CD’s home to listen to the music in my tempo (32 bpm) and Chia’s tempo (50 bpm). We’ll help her pick out the ones we like most. Then we’ll do things like help her with the movements. And Mommy will have to download the songs from the CDs and cut parts of it to be the right length for each of us. I’m going to perform in the top level this time, Level 4.

Chia: Mom’s still deciding if I’ll be a total beginner in Level 1 (on leash) or if I get to start in Level 2B (off-leash). We can’t do Level 2A because Mom’s already titled Lexi and Xena. I think I’m a 2B kinda girl! Hmmm, 2B or not 2B, that is the question…where have I heard that before…

Maybe next time we’ll have pictures of us at the Obedience Club where we’re taking our lessons.

Chia: In the meantime, I have something to tell y’all. I didn’t realize this until it happened, and now I know I’m absolutely the smartest dog in the neighborhood, maybe in the whole world.

I’m super smart!

Seriously! Here’s what happened:

Monday night I was standing in the bedroom with Mom who needed to get into “her” bathroom” and had given brother Andrew – who was in the jacuzzi tub - a 30 minute warning. An hour later she yelled through the door that she needed in there now! He said, “Just give me 30 seconds to get decent.” At that, Mom started counting the seconds out loud. You know… one, two, three, and so on. I had scratched at the door a couple of times to tell him to hurry up. Then, just as Mom said, “thirty,” I threw myself at the door and it opened. I know what Thirty means! It means open the @#*! door!!! And I did!!

*Wags* and many thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus, who is hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!

Xena and Chia, the happy (and smart) pups

Failed Selfie Sunday with Xena and Her Mommy

First, we want to thank The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!

Xena, are you about ready to do your selfie?

No, Mommy, I want to go to Freestyle! I thought we were going to start up doing our Freestyle again today!

Honey, that’s not til later this afternoon. Let’s do this first.

Wait! I got somethin’ on my nose. Stop with all the camera clicking, will ya?

Sure, Xexe, whatever you say….ok, are you ready now?

Yep.

Phthhhhhhh. I wanna go to Freestyle.

I’m Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess and I want what I want. Happy Sunday, everyone.

Thankful Poetry Thursday

Thanks to Angel Sammy for the picture this week and for Angel Brian’s Home Blog for Thankful Thursday.

Hey, it’s Chia here and I am having a blast with this picture. All I can say is I’m sure glad it isn’t my snout that birdie has ahold of! Well, OK, maybe that’s not all I can say…how about some poetry!

Taking Care of Yourself   by Chia Bee-ah

We were singing and dancing and ready to dive
When here came this fool bird to eat us alive.
I yelled and I screamed at it, “Let my nose be!”
While the coward behind me yelled, “Eat her, not me!”

I grabbed it and tore off its wings and its nose.
Then this guy’s small manhood I quickly disposed.
I pushed them both overboard into the sea
‘Fore turning back into a mean killer bee.

He, he, did you like my poem? *wags* It was really cool, right? Bet I surprised you!

Now for my thankfuls. Let’s see… I’m really thankful Miss Christy came and took care of me when Mom and Dad deserted me. And I’m thankful Andrew is back staying with us for a little while. And I’m thankful for all the snow and ice that’s keeping both Mom and Dad working at home instead of going away all day. It’s kinda fun to ‘splore in too!

There’ll bee, er be, more wintery pictures of us coming soon. In the meantime, stay warm and dry and safe.

Your buddy, Chia

Awww Monday with Sophie and Achilles

Xena: Last Friday our folks drove away and left us all here all by ourselves. 87 minutes later one of our favorite people, Miss Christy, showed up! Well, she missed seeing Mommy and Daddy, so she decided to just stay here with us! Isn’t it funny that she had a suitcase with her clothes and stuff in it?

She fed us and cuddled with us and made me feel safe even though I missed my Mommy.

Miss Christy left on Sunday, and not long after that our pawrents got home! They didn’t seem surprised when I told them that Miss Christy was here. Me and Chia and Lucy all got to sleep with them last night.

Riley: Mom Amy stunk like Achilles. I knew right away where they’d been. They left us all here and went to visit Achilles.

Lucy: But they came home in time to celebrate my birthday. *wags* And they brought pictures of my boyfriend, Achilles! Here’s the pictures they took and the story of their visit.

Achilles: I’ve been really depressed since my sister Ella crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Then Aunt Amy came and she pet me and played with me and hugged me and played with me and kissed me and played with me and cuddles with me in the big chair and I was really happy like a puppy (I’m 10) the whole time she and Uncle Jeff were here. They promised to bring my best girl Lucy with them next time. I hope it’s soon!

Hi, I’m Sophie. I’m a whole lot smaller than both my brothers – Achilles and Morty the Original Pig. I’m only 40 pounds and not a year old yet. I got to meet my Aunt Amy and she was a nice lady. She was gentle and patient with me and scratched me really good. I won’t be afraid next time she comes.

Mom Amy: This was our annual birthday trip to celebrate both Jeff and Jen’s January birthdays. We always eat too much, drink too much, talk too much and just have a great time, as we did this year. We didn’t take the dogs because we didn’t want any “incidents” with Morty, or them scaring little Sophie. Next time Lucy will go for sure, and we’ll celebrate her birthday at the same time. I just want to add that we are wonderfully blessed with the best dog sitter in the world! Thank you Christy!!

Many thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Awww Monday!
