Lucy: Mom and Dad have gone away again. Down to south Georgia, so I hear, for a little getaway retreat for Mom’s birthday this Monday. After they left, I started going through Mom’s recipes, just for fun, to see what we might all like to eat. BTW (that means By The Way in reporting news, or, maybe, just in conversation.) Anyway, BTW, we have a 14-year-old schnauzer living with us for a couple of weeks. Mom said she’d get some pictures and tell you about Zoie next week. But I’m off subject again. Recipes. I did find one that sounded great. Here it is, straight out of Mom’s recipe box.
Did you read the recipe? If Mom’s got in in here recipe box it has to be good! But I’m not sure Mom will be gone two months. And I really don’t know where I can get an elephant around here. We do have rabbits around here if we need more. Hey y’all, let me know if you make this, OK?
Thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.
This was a picture I had to put a lot of thought into. The web is so pretty, but… OK, I’ll stop keeping you guessing and show you my poem. First, the picture.
Chia Ate my Blueberriesby Xena
I want that big berry, It’s behind the web. I’d better be wary; I could end up dead.
I guess I’ll go home; Mommy went to the store. Chia ate all the berries! Mommy, please go buy more!
Chia: Xeboo! You know I’m not crazy about blueberries! Why would you blame me? Xena: Cause it’s usually you who gets in trouble for everything, so why not? Chia: I’m calling my lawyer.
I’m actually thankful for you, Chia. You keep things lively around here. Me and Lucy were getting in a bit of a rut until you showed up four years ago. And I love berries of any kind, so I’m thankful, too, that you aren’t crazy about them. That means more for me!
Chia: Yeah, well, I’m thankful you eat the berries so I don’t have to, BOL!
Hi there! Mommy didn’t have time or energy (so she claims) to help me show you a little more of my time in Fort Wayne, Inn Dee Anna while we were there. So here are a few more pictures I wanted to share with you.
This first one is of my Daddy pushing his Mom – my Grandma – in her wheelchair for a walk through the neighborhood where she lives now. Her home is called Saint Anne Home and Retirement Community and she has a room there with lots of helpers and other older people. I let Grandma pet me, and a lot of the other folks who live there pet me, too. I didn’t really like all those strangers touching me, but I was a good girl and let them. I’ll never understand why Lucy and Riley love that so much.
We walked about eight blocks from where we were staying to visit with Grandma. Then we walked some more (as you can see) before we said goodbye and walked back to our Air B & B house. I sure got my exercise that day!
On the way there we walked through the park that was across from our temporary house. It was really pretty with tons of flowers and water and stuff.
The sign says, “Lakeside Rose Gardens.” Lots of people get married there. Then they can play basketball or tennis on the courts in the same park! Well, I guess someone can do that even if they don’t get married. Our temporary house is back behind Daddy, across the park and across the street.
I managed to sneak in one more picture of me before Mommy hit “Publish.”
I was in the bathroom waiting on Mommy to finish, well, you know, what people do in the bathroom. That rug was soft and I really like how the blue and white look against my hair. I’d better hit “publish” before Lucy Deucy sees my blog post and tries to delete this part. She can be so proper…always one to follow the rules…except for her new strange obsession with eating dirt…
Thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
Have a good week! Xena Schnauzer Warrior Traveling Princess
This morning, before it got hot, me and Mommy and Miss Jentry (Andrew’s girlfriend) and my sisters all went on a long walk on the trails at a place not far from where we live. The place is called the Greenway. It must have at least 87 miles of trails and 2 dog parks. We ‘splored a coupla “off the main track trails.” One of them dead-ended at a tiny, make-shift beach facing North Chickamauga Creek. Here’s the picture Mommy took of us.
In this picture you can see how blue the sky is and the trees reflecting green on the creek. Do you see our shadows? To the left is the small area where you can actually walk into the water if you want to (we didn’t want to). Everywhere else is a drop-off.
This is the same picture, but a close-up so that it could be my Sunday Selfie. I told my sisters to look away, cause it’s my selfie.
I have to go eat my supper now, so wishing y’all a good Sunday! Xena Schnauzer Warrior Hiking Princess
Lucy: Hi, friends. *smiles* It’s that special day of the week when we have fun, thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.
Here is the picture from Angel Sammy, followed by my poem.
The Cost of Living by Lucy The cost of living had gotten so high The chipmunks and squirrels were starting to die From lack of a home with a fridge and all such Stuff that you need. Is that asking too much?
They found new apartments that had slowly been built. There was great stuff in them, and in one e’en a quilt! Each left their “deposit” on the ground floor Before climbing up high to go in their new smashed door.
A big rat or two had already moved in Their little rat children were noisy, dirty and thin. Then the deal breaker was smelled before seen. The squirrels and chipmunks moved to floor eighteen!
I’m really thankful I have a good home with a refrigerator to keep all my food fresh until I get to eat it! And I’m thankful my Mom and Dad and Xena came back from their trip early this week. I’ve been working on my dirt addiction cause I think that’s what’s been giving me the squirts this past week. Mom said if it keeps up she’s gonna’ have to take me to see my dogtor. I like my dogtor!
Xena: I enjoyed being an only child, er, dog while I was on vacation with Mommy and Daddy. Even so, it’s been fun being back home with my crazy sister Chia. I’m thankful for both things!
Chia: I’ve decided to do everything Xena does so I get to be the one picked to go away with the folks next time. For instance I’ve watched how she greets Mom when she gets home from work, and I’m doing it the same. Even so, I’m thankful my bro Andrew was here with me. He let me sleep under the covers with him every night.
Lucy: We all hope all y’all have a good Thursday and have something good planned for the weekend coming up! See you later!
Hey friends, it’s me, your favorite schnauzer girl! Uhh, Xena, in case you forgot me since I’ve been gone from home one whole day.
We had a great trip to a city called Fort Wayne, although we drove into the same kinda heat that we thought we had left bee hind in Chattanooga. It’s OK, the nice Air Bee and Bee House we are staying in has the cool air conditioning.
If you look real close at my tag you’ll see it says HELP ME I’M LOST. Don’t worry, I’m not really lost. That’s just for if I go outside and get lost. But I try to stick real, real close to my Mommy!
Mommy and Daddy went out to a Mexican restaurant to eat with his sisters and their families last night. Daddy has a lot of food allergies that hurt him in different ways. For whatever reason, he forgot about that last night, and so did Mommy. She didn’t even think about reminding him not to order the dish with chorizo (pork) and bacon (pork) and cheese (dairy). She said that they had a great, fun time, but just before they left the restaurant he had to run to the bathroom, trying not to cover his mouth with his hand before he got there. They had planned on going dancing after the meal, but Daddy just kept getting sicker. The pepto bismol Mommy got him helped and he did manage to keep everything where it should be, if you know what I mean. But today he’s really tired, a side effect of one of the forbidden foods. I really don’t know what got into them, uh, I mean, why neither of them thought about it. They always think about that with food. Oh well, I bet that doesn’t happen again anytime soon!
I am feeling braver more confident than last time when Lucy and Chia were here with us. Before, I was pretty scared timid on the big wood stair going up to our bedroom. I did manage to pose for a picture or two near the bottom. (These 2 pictures are from our last trip here.)
Now I run up and down without a second thought!
Well, I’ve gotta go now – just wanted to let y’all know how it’s goin. Mommy has to go to the W-mart store to get my Grandma a cake and stuff to decorate it with.
Hope to see y’all soon! Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Hi folks! *wiggles all over* It’s me, Chia!!! Wow, I had some fun with this picture that Angel Sammy sent us. Oh yeah, that reminds me. Thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. Xena sort of got in on the action, as you will see. Here goes!
Who’s My Dadby Chia My Mom and Dad went out on a date; I think it mighta been somethin’ they ate, But when they returned I was very concerned. Were their bodies switched? What makes this their new state?
Mom’s got all the stuff and Dad’s walking so oddly. Xe’s going with it. I think it’s ungodly. Maybe it’s witchcraft! If so, then I think that We call the priest to end all this folly!
Chia: Wow, I’m thankful MY Mom and Dad haven’t switch bodies. And I’m thankful for getting to go on our family walks every morning with MY Mom and Dad. We go real early before it gets hot.
Xena: First I want you to know that I absolutely would be able to tell if something like that happened to our folks. My Mommy would still pick me up and love on me, and carry me in to bed to sleep with her even if she was in another body, cause she’d still be my Mommy! I’m thankful she’s still her, though! I’m also thankful for the yummy ground beef we got at several meals this week. And the avocadoes. And the strawberries. And..well, all the good food we get.
Lucy: I’m thankful Mom hasn’t sent me to dirt-a-holics anonymous yet. First, I rolled in it all the time. Now, I can’t seem to stop eating it. She’s threatened to buy a basket muzzle to put on me when I go outside. She did google what causes pups to do that and there were so many things that can cause dogs to eat dirt that it almost made her dizzy. The first one she’s trying is feeding me more of my regular food. I can get behind that! (Or in front of it, as the case may be.) Oh, yes, I’m also thankful Mom’s still taking me to work with her on Thursdays. (She wipes my mouth off before we get in the car.) I’m being very, very good, too! (There’s no dirt to eat there, but that’s not really what I meant about being good.)
Chia: Ok, Lucy Deucy, we’re gonna call it a day. Everyone have a great Thankful Thursday!
First, we want to bark thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
Xena: Me and Mommy and Daddy are getting ready to go on vacation to In Dee Anna for my Grandma Jean’s 84th birthday celebration! I hope there’s good food and cake. I’m going to try to be on my best behavior and not act scared at the Assisted Living home where Grandma Jean lives. (She’s Daddy’s Mommy.)
Lucy’s acting relieved and Chia’s acting bratty ’cause they get to/ have to stay home with brother Andrew and Riley. This will be two weekends in a row they got left behind. I had to stay home last weekend, too. But now I’m all groomed and ready to travel in my car kennel where I feel safe and happy.
Last weekend my folks went to Knoxville, Tennessee, to a dance on Friday night. They left early so they could go to the gluten-free bakery my Daddy loves and then to his favorite restaurant for supper. It’s called Jig and Reel. He said it’s a Scottish restaurant, and has lots of different items on the menu that you don’t see other places. But his favorite thing is their “Scotch whiskey flights.” Sounds like birds or planes, doesn’t it? Mommy smells them before he drinks each one (she doesn’t like the taste) and then they compare thoughts on them. One of them made her cringe and cough and almost struggle for breath. It was Daddy’s favorite! She really liked the smell of another one, but Daddy didn’t like it at all. I don’t think I would have liked any of them!
They slept in what’s called an Air B&B in Knoxville, then went hiking the next day before they left for home. They found what they called an oasis – an 85 acre park – in the middle of downtown Knoxville. They mostly went to see Fort Dickerson there, but then they walked one of the trails. If you click here you can read a little bit about it. Fort Dickerson is the site of a big battle in the American Civil War. I won’t spoil it by telling you who won the battle.
Mommy and Daddy at the top of the hill on their walk.
My folks started their walk where the big red arrow is on the map – the one you’ll see if you click the link – and headed up the blue line, then moved to the black line and circled around, heading back to the parking lot where the big red arrow is. They said it was a fun hike through the woods with lots of big hills and roots and big rocks and big fallen trees and the occasional, “which way do we go now?” Before that, they drove up to the Civil War Earthen Site and walked the short trail around it, stopping to read all the signs about what happened there and see the big guns that are like cannons only a bit smaller. The Fort overlooks a valley and what is now called the Tennessee River, and was the perfect place for the Union troops to stop the Confederate battalion from advancing. Oops, did I just give you a hint who won the battle?
This is Augusta Quarry. It’s right at the start of the trailhead. Isn’t it pretty?
Well, that was last weekend. Now we – me and Mommy and Daddy – have to finish getting packed and ready for this weekend. I haven’t decided yet which stuffies are going. Probably Priscilla, she’s a good traveler. We’re leaving this Friday and not coming home until next Monday! Wow, that’s like 87 day! I’ll try to stop by and visit you before we leave.
Hi Folks! As usual, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week!
Here’s our fun picture for this week, and it’s a doozy!
Xena, the Girl, and the Bearby Xena
Hey kid! Are you crazy to stare down that bear? You’re tiny and big bears aren’t known to play fair. This isn’t your teddy you take to your to bed. With his big teeth and claws you’d soon end up dead!
“I like him,” she murmured, “and we could be friends. I’ll take him home and we’ll see how this ends.” “Come in,” said Francisco, “and we’ll take a swim.” “Don’t do it” I barked, “he’ll tear off your limbs!”
“Come pet me!” I wiggled and whined and yelped. Then we’ll find your Mommy and ask her to help. My excellent plan worked when we found her parents. The little girl’s safe and Francisco’s…uh, Francisco’s…
Oh darn! I can’t think of a word to rhyme with parents. But Francisco lost and I reported him to management!!
Chia: It was just pretend, Xena, you can’t report him to management. And management rhymes with parent. phthhh Xena: Well, I pretended to report him to the pretend management. So there! Phhhhhthhhhhh. Oh, wait, it does rhyme!
Lucy: I’m thankful that I have two silly little sisters. And that It’s cooled down outside just enough to go lay in the sun. And I’m real thankful that I continue to be allowed to go to work at the church with my Mom on Thursdays! I’ve been real good and greet people with big wags and smiles. Now we’re all waiting to find out if Mom and Dad are taking us with them next weekend on their trip to In Dee Anna or if we’re staying here with brother Andrew and Riley. I hate the ride, but I love to visit! So either way, I’ll be ok.
Everyone have a great rest of the week! XOX Lucy, Xena and Chia
Good day, folks. Lucy here, reporting from W Grooming with Mom. Today our story goes a bit of a different direction. My pack mates and I have found what may be a great new addition to our diet. Please read on…
Folks, feeding ginger to your dog (or cat) is simple and can be done in various forms, including fresh root, powder, tea, capsules, or tincture. Did you know that us pups, and you pussy cats, too, can, in limited amounts, eat ginger? We can! And it has great health benefits, including: 1. Heartworm management 2. Joint Support 3. Digestive Aid 4. Bloat prevention 5. Flatulence relief
I hear y’all going, “Wow! How much do I get to eat?” Here’s the answer, first for us dogs:
For fresh organic ginger root, peel the skin and finely mince the yellow part of the root. To feed fresh ginger, start with small doses and gradually increase to the recommended amounts:
For dogs under 10 lbs, give 1/4 teaspoon three times daily.
For dogs 10 to 35 lbs, give 1/2 teaspoon three times daily.
For dogs over 35 lbs, give 3/4 teaspoon three times daily.
For powdered ginger, the dosages are as follows:
For dogs 1 to 10 lbs, give up to 1/8 teaspoon.
For dogs 10 to 20 lbs, give 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon.
For dogs 20 to 50 lbs, give 1 teaspoon.
For dogs 50 to 100 lbs, give 2 teaspoons.
For dogs over 100 lbs, give up to 1 tablespoon.
Ginger tea can also be given in small amounts:
For dogs 1 to 10 lbs, less than 1/4 cup, 1 to 3 times daily.
For dogs 10 to 20 lbs, 1/4 cup, 1 to 3 times daily.
For dogs 20 to 50 lbs, 1/4 to 1/2 cup, 1 to 3 times daily.
For dogs 50 to 100 lbs, 1/2 to 1 cup, 1 to 3 times daily.
For dogs over 100 lbs, up to 1 cup, 1 to 3 times daily.
Now, more info for you sweet pussie cats:
Start small. Moms/Dads, mix a tiny amount of shredded or ground ginger root into their food. Observe your cat’s reaction to the new addition. Some cats may find the spice irritating, so it’s crucial to monitor for any signs of digestive discomfort. You can also boil it before offering it to your baby. However, speak to your vet about the appropriate amount and frequency of giving ginger to your kitty.
Groomer Mom, A.K.A. Mom, already has ginger tea in the house that she likes and uses when her tummy is a bit upset. So she’s going to start with that. None of us (except Riley, who won’t be getting this) have any health issues, especially since Xena’s gotten that nasty yeast cleared up.
Now, here’s my disclaimer, and it’s important for your folks to read this if they are considering giving you some ginger.
Cautions
While ginger offers many benefits for dogs (and cats), there are certain situations where it should be avoided.
Ginger has blood-thinning properties, so it should not be given to dogs or cats on blood-thinning medications or those scheduled for surgery.
Pregnant cats and dogs should also avoid ginger, as it can stimulate the uterus and potentially cause complications.
Additionally, ginger may lower blood sugar and blood pressure, so it is important to consult a veterinarian before giving ginger to dogs or cats with diabetes or heart conditions.
Consulting your holistic vet is crucial before starting your dog on ginger, especially if your cat or dog has existing health conditions or is taking any medications. Your vet can help determine the appropriate dosage and ensure that ginger will not interfere with any ongoing treatments or exacerbate any health issues.
Exacerbate…wow….can you tell I copied and pasted that word. Now where’s my dictionary…
With thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop, this is Lucy, Ace Reporter, signing off with wishes for a healthy day!
Xena: Is my ginger tea almost ready?
Lucy: Taste tests are in. Unfortunately, it’s three paws down. That’s one paw each from me, Xena and Chia. We just couldn’t get past the smell. Oh well. So, if you decide to try ginger, please let us know if you like it.
First, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.
Xena: This week we decided to do something different. We agreed to do something called collaborate (whew, that’s a really big word to learn) on the picture poem. So, here goes.
The Flower Gardenby Xena, Lucy and Chia (but mostly Chia)
I went to my friend Pam’s house to see If she would come out to play with me. “Where’s Lucy and Xena?” she asked with a smile. “I’ll run to get them, it’s lots less than a mile!”
So off with a leap I ran like the wind To gather my sisters to visit our friend. We all ran to Pam’s in our neighborhood… Stay out of her flower bed! That’s understood.
She’d gone inside to fix us good treats, Maybe something she got that she never eats. The flowers smelled good; what fun to be had! Needless to say, me and my sisters were bad.
Xena and I played a game we made up; Lucy laid there thinking she’s such a good pup. When Pam opened the door we all heard her scream, “Not in my flowers! This must be a dream!”
We jumped up and ran down the street to our home; We got there just as Mom answered her phone. “No, Pam,” she said, “it must have been a nightmare. All three of my good girls are sitting right here.”
Xena: Whew, that was a close one. I sure hope Miss Pam still gives us her giblets. I’m thankful for good neighbors like her. They help make this a happy place to live. Speaking of a happy place to live, I think that bad bully mix that attacked us as we were out for a walk is gone. His pawrents had him in a fenced area and he jumped it and bit my foot as Mommy was picking me up. Lucy had to fight him off. She was pawsome! Now Mommy carries mace when we go for walks.
Lucy: Thanks, Xena. I just did what I had to do. Miss Pam lives just a couple of houses further up from the attack dog, and I’m thankful for her too. She gives good belly rubs. I’d also like to be friends with her cats, but they run and hide when they see us coming.
Chia: I’m thankful for…hmmm…oh! I’m thankful that Miss Jentry comes over every Sunday and spends the day with all of us! (She’s brother Andrew’s girlfriend.) She’s kinda like my gal friend, too…we’re buddies! My whole body was when I see her!!!
See y’all again soon!! Chia, Lucy and Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Lucy and Xena: We all love how Miss Ann at Zoolatry makes fun graphics and pictures for all of us bloggers! And today is our day to shine!! Be sure to go visit June and Miss Ann to see us featured there today. (Thanks, June, for letting us use your blog!)
Also, as always, thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
I had a great day at work on Thursday! I kept waiting for all the folks who love me to come to see me, and they did!
First was Miss Nancy. I think she just likes me, but that counts, too, right? She stayed most of the day working on church stuff.
Then came…can you guess…yes! The Pastor! I smiled and wiggled extra hard and he pet me and smiled even bigger than I did.
Then a lot of church ladies came in for a meeting. One of them didn’t want me near her (her loss, Mom said), but the rest pet me and were happy to see me. I smiled and wagged at everyone.
Then Mailman Thomas came! Woohoo! He always smiles, saying, “Hello, Lucy!” and pets me and gives me a nice big treat. Mom was looking a different way when he got there, so he tapped on the outside door cause he knew I was supposed to be there that day. Mom opened the door and I ran out to greet Mailman Thomas. Mom stepped out and said, “Aren’t you giving Lucy a treat today?” to which he replied, “I already did!” It was true, but it happened so fast I would have been happy to get another one *wags*.
When Pastor was leaving for the day he asked me to come to him and give him a kiss. I wasn’t sure if he meant he really wanted a kiss, but Mom said, “Go on Lucy.” So I ran to him and he gave me a great big kiss on my nose. *blush*
As if the day hadn’t already been super great, Mom gave me one of her Hebrew National hot dogs for lunch — I never get lunch at home! It was sometime after lunch when everyone except Miss Nancy left and I was getting tired. I asked Mom if we could go home, but she said no, we had at least another hour to stay and work.
Can I haave another hot dog, please?
I was such a good girl that I’m going to get to go back next Thursday. That makes me happy. Maybe I’ll get another kiss.
First, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.
Hi Folks! Lucy here. Many of you good people, dogs, cats and other species already know that Achilles is my boyfriend and he lives on the other side of Nashville with a pig. Actually, with two pigs now. I think my honey must be a brave saint to do that. But then, what other choice does he have? I offered him a home here with me, but he said he’d end up killing Riley and Riley said he’d end up killing Achilles. So he stays there with the pigs. *sigh*
Anyhoo, I thought it might be fun to ask him to help me with today’s crazy picture. Here goes…
Suzieby Lucy
Uncle Bill has a friend whose pet loves to dine; A hog or a boar or a really big swine. They came to visit. I screamed, “Achilles, help me!” “Our best course of action, Lucy, is to flee!”
We ran to the door but the door wasn’t open; We ran to the kitchen and hid in the oven. The pig said, “I’m hungry Dad, cook me a dog.” We ran out the door and into the thick fog.
We ran for our lives yelling “Go away you big clout!” “But I just want to play,” she replied with a pout. “You said you would eat us,” we said with a frown.” “I was just kidding; at heart I’m a big clown!”
We turned back and played with that extra-sized hog. We dodged and jumped over her like she was a log. She giggled and ran at us til she heard her phone… Her Dad said, “That’s all, Suzie, it’s time to go home!”
I sure hope you liked my poem this week. I’m thankful that I don’t have to live with pigs, although I’m pretty sure we would be friends. At least I would try to be friends.
Chia: I’m thankful it stopped raining and I have sun puddles instead of rain puddles to lay in!
Lucy: I’m also very thankful the pastor said I can come back to the church today. (He loves me.) I promise to be a good girl and only do my busyness outside! Is it time to go yet, Mom?
Mom: Yep, we need to wrap up our thankfuls for another week and get to work!
First, Thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
It’s me, Xena, owner of this blog. It was willed to me by Angel Le… Chia: Blah, blah blah. Xena: …xi and it’s mine. Now that we have that established Chia, let’s get on with our story. If you remember, our front yard had grown into a jungle. We saw giraffes and monkeys and were being stalked by Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my! Well, at least by a tiger when Riley came and rescued us. He had heard the roar of a riding lawn mower starting up. Today…
The jungle and the critters in it all seem to be gone. I can still smell them, though. It’s sure hot and muggy (90% humidity) enough for it to be a jungle out here.
Wait, I’ve got a scent.
I think it’s a condor! I think it’s big and dangerous! *shudder* I’m gettin’ outa here.
…and then, Daddy, I chased it away. It was so big and scary!
Lucy: *shudder* I hear something coming towards us in this front yard jungle. There’s lots of cats in this neighborhood. Sure hope it’s not a lion or a tiger or even a bear, oh my!
Both: LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS, OH MY!
Riley: There you both are. Follow me. I hear the mower coming, and you don’t want to be here. Lucy: Come on Xena…let’s go! Xena: Hey Riley, did Chia eat my supper?
Monkey: Screeeeee!
Tiger: Eww, smells like stinkin’ dog around here. Glad they’re gone!
Thanks to The Cat on My Head for hosting Sunday selfies, and congrats to them on their year #10 of blogging!
We’ve had a very hot and dry summer, and Mommy kept telling the grass cutter guy, “Nope, it doesn’t need cut yet,” every week. Then it started to rain. And the temperatures dropped about 10 degrees. And everyone’s grass started to grow…fast! In fact, too fast for our grass cutter guy to keep up with.
Here’s my selfie, in our front yard!
Guess it’s not really that long. I can still see, kinda. Hey I wonder if there’s any critters in here to chase.
Lucy: Xena! Where are you? I can’t find you!
The grass cutter guy’s supposed to come tomorrow. Maybe someone will find me and Lucy before that.
A little later….
Chia: There they are! Hey, Xena! Can I have your supper?
First, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.
Xena: It’s not July anymore, so I get to do as many posts as I want, cause it’s not Chia’s birthday month any more and it’s my blog. Angel Lexi willed it to me. I’m very thankful for both those things!
Chia: No she didn’t!
Xena: She came to me in a dream and…
Lucy: Enough. Just do your poem, Xena.
Xena: Ok. *wags* This one was a bit of a challenge. And quite a bit scary to experience. But I always feel safe in my kennel. Oops, I almost gave away my poem. Well, here goes…
My Dare Rideby Xena
I took the dare, I rode the ride. I had somewhere I’m safe to hide!
My Mommy said She’d wait for me ‘Cause I’m her little |Cup of tea!
I won the bet What did I get? A raw steak and A cup of tea!
That’s all for me! XOX Xena Schnauzer Rolly Coaster Schnauzer
Hey, Chia here. I had a harrowing time at the vet this week. Dad took me (where the h-e-double hockey sticks was Mom?). At first I was watching Xena shake and shiver and then I was watching Lucy try to make friends with everyone until… until…I saw my dachshund friend up on the ledge! How the h-e-double hockey sticks did BeMine, aka MiniMe, get up there, or get here at all?!
I went ballistic. I didn’t even hear Dad telling me to settle down and stop barking. I couldn’t take my eyes off BeMine, aka MiniMe.
Dad got me – still carrying on – and Xena – still shaking – out of there as soon as they were done stealing our blood for the DNA Heartworm test that Mom sends off to Canada. Lucy was in the back getting her blood stolen when Dad told the crew that he was going to take us to the car. He took us out the back way, probably so I couldn’t see MiniMe again…or was it MiniMe?
I sure am happy to be home, and that somehow MiniMe managed to get home, too, to cuddle with me.
