Hey folks. Feelin’ kind of sad. Lucy left. She went on a long drive in the car with Dad to our Grandma’s. She left real early yesterday, and I thought she’d be home by now.
Me and Xena, we’ve been playing, and Mom’s been working with me some on Freestyle and on walking nice, like not pulling on the leash, outside with her. I’ve been getting lots of treat cheese. But it’s just not the same without Lucy, ya know?
It’s like there’s something wrong with this picture.
Guess I’ll hang out on the couch with Riley for a while. Even though he has my pillow. And I’m in Lucy’s spot. But at least our butts are touching. Maybe she’ll be home tomorrow…
Man, my July 4th birthday was all it was cracked up to be! So far so good with the fireworks…but it’s still daylight. I may have to try to comfort Lucy and Xena later on tonight. I’ll just remind Mom about the CBD oil and valerian. That should do it!
My day started off with a great walk around the neighborhood with my folks and Lucy and Xena. I was hoping I’d see my friend Pam or my friend Ron but it must have been too early for them to be out.
Around noon Mom surprised us all with meaty raw beef rib bones. OMD! They were so good!!! Lucy chewed hers up and ate it all before me and Xena had even gotten all the meat off ours. I kept mine hidden outside and chewed on it off and on all day. Finally Mom traded me a treat for the little bit that was left. Deal!
Then, just before all the folks sat down to eat their holiday feast Mom gave me my present to dig out of a bag!
At first I thought the thing was a mop head. I thought, “What the heck, a mop head might be fun to play with, right?” Then I got it clear out and started to smell treats. Even the best mops don’t smell like treats…
On the back of the mop head were little X-es that were cut open with a treat in each one. Later, Mom confessed to having put them there. Here’s what the insert said about what I found out wasn’t a mop:
Eddie the Eel “Eddie is not your ordinary dog toy; he’s a daring deep-sea explorer! With his flexible body that can be rolled and twisted, Eddie loves to surprise your furry friend with hidden treats cleverly tucked away in his lifelike fish scales…the mop-like velvet fabric isn’t just soft and huggable, it’s also great for cleaning your pup’s teeth as they explore his unique texture.”
So his name is Eddie and he’s an eel and he’s my new toothbrush that sometimes gives me treats. Hmmm. At least he screams when I bite him!
Then I went back to the bag, thinking I’d missed something, and sure enough, there was another stuffie in there! (And that weird thing on the front of my collar is a Gee Pee Ess tracker. I can’t run off anywhere without them knowing and finding me!)
Back to my present number 2. A duck. Hmmm. Looks like a dead duck to me.
Hey, Mom, is this duck dead? I found it that way. I didn’t do it!
Come on, I”ll take you..wait! You’re screaming! And making crinkly noises! Hey, you might be fun to play with after all! I think I”ll call you Howard.
*wags, wags, wags, wags* Hi, it’s me, Chia, the birthday girl! In case you haven’t heard, I’m turning four years old today, and the whole country is celebrating! I’ve decided to give the first picture poem of my birthday month to Angel Lexi. Hey, maybe I am growing up! I’ve heard she used to help our folks teach ballroom dance, so I knew she would be the expert on this. She sent me this poem to share with y’all today.
First, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.
You’re Doing It Wrongby Angel Lexi
Please try to keep on beat Stop looking at your feet! Hold paws and move closer And please don’t call me “sir.”
If you want to rumba Stop dancing the samba. You flew me to the North Pole Cause your dance ain’t got no soul.
Don’t give up though it seems hopeless. You two just have to focus. This lesson’s going on your card So you two just keep trying hard.
Chia: Do you see the credit card by Angel Lexi’s paw? Wow, she thought of everything. I knew she was the right one to do the poem for this picture! When she helped teach ballroom dance she always watched the teens practice and barked at them when they were doing it wrong. Then Mom or Dad had to go over and say, “Show me,” to the couple Lexi had singled out. And, sure enough, they were always doing it wrong. Maybe someday I can do that, too.
Riley: Dream on, hot dog. Me and Lexi, we didn’t always like each other, but she knew what she was doing and was always good at it. There’ll never be another like her. But I have to say, it was mighty nice of you to give her your special day poem. Maybe you really are growing up, Chia.
Chia: *wags* Thanks, RiBoy. *wags* Hey, everyone, I’ll be back tomorrow to share how my special birthday went today, with all my presents and great food. *paws crossed* In the meantime, I’m also letting Lucy do our Independence Day wishes. (I should get extra treats for this!)
I do want to do the thankfuls today. I’m thankful brother Andrew rescued me(when my name was Chico) and brought me here from a bad situation. Then when my previous dad got outa jail and wanted me, Andrew just said I had gone to live with someone else and they won’t give me back (all true). My life here is so, so good!! I love my sister Lucy the most, and I’m so thankful she has put up with me for over three years. And I love my Mom and Dad and cuddling between them in the big bed at night. And I’m thankful for my sister Xena, too. We’re the same size and have fun playing together. I’m thankful for my yummy food and I’m thankful that Mom’s giving me a chance at Freestyle! Wow, I’ve got a lot to be thankful for, don’t I?! *whole body wags*
Let’s start out by thanking Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!
The Surprise Demise of Miss Chia
On the set of a new movie We do things that are groovy, Like me playing dead; The plot will soon unthread.
Was it Bruno, Max or Charley Or the guy who rides a Harley? Did the audience learn to love me Before the queen bee stung me?
I’m not really dead at all But I did take a bad fall. Hope that scene we never replay Or they use a bee made of clay!
In the end I’m still alive! After the cops arrived All the suspects are set free “Cept that d..mn mother f…k..r bee!
Lucy: Chia! You can’t use language like that! Bad girl! Chia: Language like what? I just used some letters that don’t make any words, Lucy Goosey!
Okay, now for thankfuls. Sometimes I’m thankful and sometimes I’m a bit sad that The Puppy got adopted. She was a super fun playmate, except when she grabbed me by the base of my tail and her tooth went up my a… Lucy: Stop! I’m sorry she bit you there, but don’t say the donkey word. No blood was drawn and you’re ok now. Xena: Hey Chia, you were just jealous that she was getting so much attention and you weren’t the baby of the family any more. Chia: Was not! *grrr* Xena: *grrrr*
Well, folks, we hope you have a good and thankful Thursday and it’s probably time we all signed off from here. XOXOXOX Chia, Lucy and Xena
Chia: Mommy was sitting at her desk at work yesterday when she heard a noise at the window next to the outside door. When she got up to see what it was, she saw a large puppy scratching at the glass. As she approached the window, the puppy saw her and, frightened, started to run away. The church is on a very busy street (which is why Chia isn’t allowed to go). So Mommy went outside and started called to the puppy. She got down low and gently urged the pup to come to her. It took a while, but with patience and perseverance, Mom was able to extract her from beneath the rose bush. Two things to note here: there is black mulch under the rose bush and Mommy wore her white pants to work yesterday.
Moving on….Mommy got my car kennel from the car and put the puppy in it in the office. She posted a picture on NextDoor and asked the owner to contact her. At closing she hadn’t gotten an email, so she emailed Daddy (with a picture) and asked him what he thought she should do. “Bring her home!” was his answer. On the way home they stopped at a vet clinic to see if she’s microchipped, and she is not. (Mommy could tell Daddy was glad, BOL!) You see, Daddy had a Husky years ago and loves the breed. So Mommy’s gonna keep checking her work email over the weekend to see if anyone responds. She’ll make them tell her their name and what vet they use for the puppy, and then she’ll follow up with the vet to be sure it really is their puppy.
In the meantime, puppy had what we think, by her response to it, her first bath. She got a packet of our Ollie turkey food and gobbled it up. (He, he, I made a funny.) We have found out that she likes balls and anything that she can chew on, and that she is not housebroken. She’s friendly but a little shy yet. She and Chia have taken turns going into the play position, and other play gestures. But Chia’s just a little too forward and rough for the puppy, and it scares her. We think she’s under 3 months old.
And Lucy, being the gentle soul that she is, has been kind to her.
I saw Chia whispering in Lucy’s ear, and it turns out she asked Lucy to help her show the puppy how they play.
Even Riley welcomed the puppy. He took a good look at her and woofed, “Not a schnauzer. She can stay.”
Friday early morning Update: Not shy. Me and Chia are trying to put her and her sharp baby teeth in her place, but are now hiding, er, I mean have now retired to Daddy’s office. Mommy, is it safe to come out yet? Is she outside? In my kennel? Yep, she’s caged. I can hear her whining.
So, that’s what’s going on at our house this weekend. Mommy just checked her work email, and no one is claiming her. *sigh* It’s going to be a long weekend. Glad I’m leaving for my Freestyle practice this afternoon.
I’m on a streak here for the poetry Thursday. Chia’s complaining, but she is alway complaining about something, so all I can say is “deal with it.” I might, and I mean might let her do the poem next week. We’ll see.
Here’s the picture Angel Sammy gave us to work with. Of course, it has had a small alteration.
The Travel Guideby Riley
Hello Monsieur Bear. It’s nice to have you here. I hope your trip was good And you got some fishy food.
I’m your travel guide; I’ll take you far and wide. Where’er you want to go Moving fast or moving slow.
To the spots the tourists go, Moving fast or taking it slow. Or to spots much more remote, Touring farms with cows and goats.
You can’t eat them when you’re there But I’ll get you some sans hair. We’ll go to a movie show Or to a club b’low.
Watch that bus! It’s coming fast! Oh crap! He shouldn’t of smoked that grass. If that bus had only braked! But what a pretty rug he’ll make.
A bear rug, BOL! I bet that would be super soft to lay on. Now for my thankful. My Person Andrew has been here with me all last week and all this week. That makes my heart happy. Hey, anyone else got a thankful today?
Chia: I’m thankful that Mom and Dad’ve been taking me and my sisters on a lot more walks. I pull so hard on the leash that my nails scrape on the road and I don’t have to get them cut. I’m really thankful for that too!
Riley: Chia, you’re weird.
Chia: Grrrrrrr *runs away*
We give many thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!
I get to write another poem today, and I’m going to try really hard to be great at it.
I’m the Kidby Riley
I know this swing is just for kids And the rules us pups forbid, But I’m the kid in my family Just with a different anatomy.
I steal the food and run through the house, Slipping away quiet as a mouse. When Mom’s on the phone I bark loud. Of my high howl I’m very proud.
I’ve toys that fill the living room Plus my own bed, my own costume. Yet in bed with my folks I creep, Praying, “Now I lay me down to sleep.”
Amen Now here’s some thankfuls from my two little sisters.
Chia: Well, I have, besides the GPS tracker I already wear on my collar, yet another little tag to trace my every move. I couldn’t be happier – NOT! Why do these people think they have to know everywhere I go? And now I jingle louder as I run through the house, so they even know where I am when I’m at home. It must be an obsession. Here’s the stupid thing that’s now hanging on me. I’ll be happy when it falls off and gets lost.
Xena: My collar name tag broke, so Mommy ordered me a MYLUCKYTAG QR Code Pet ID Tag from the amazing Amazon. It looks like this. Now if I somehow get lost, my Mommy will be able to find me through something called a Gee Pee Ess, and find me even better if a nice person scans that square thing on the back and contacts her. They’ll know I’m lost cause the tag says so. She also got me one that slides on my collar that has my name and Mommy and Daddy’s phone numbers on it. I’m so thankful they love me and want me to be with them. That makes me happy.
The Mom: I’m so very thankful that such great technology exists to help get our beloved cats and dogs back to us if they should get lost. I’m also thankful that it has a free subscription so that I can see where in the world they are and so that anyone who finds them can contact me. Go technology! Here’s a link if you want to check them out. (Nope, not getting anything for this other than the satisfaction of knowing it could be of use to someone.)
And here’s many thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!
Xena: It’s my turn to do the picture poem this week that Angel Sammy gave us. So here goes.
The Makeup Artistby Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Mom, I see you put your makeup on Every day, every morn. Your cheeks are first, then chin and head. I watch you from beneath my bed.
My little sis will soon be grown; I’ll help her show off her good bones. Some eye stuff just above her cheeks; Working to perfect my techniques.
So Mom, can I do your face next? Why is it that you look so vexed? To my room I go with a big sob; I thought that I did a great job!
Lucy: Great job, Xena! And thanks for letting me do a thankful today. I’m thankful that my brother and friend Riley is doing a bit better under the careful watch and care of His Person Andrew. I’m also thankful for the sunshine so I can lay out in the yard and feel it warming my furs. Go ahead, Chia, I think you had a thankful today too.
Chia: Yep, thanks Luce the Deuce! (te he) I’m thankful Mom and Dad get to go away to Inn Dee Anna this weekend to visit my 93 year old grandma as well as some more of Dad’s relatives. I heard that on Sunday they’re going to Inn Deann Apple Us. (Don’t these places have long, strange names?) There’s a big dance there in a huge, old ballroom, and they’re doing the big 3D’s like they did 2 weeks ago. Yes, Xena, that’s Dine, Drink and Dance, not Doggie, Doggie, Doggie. And guess what, Xena…you and Lucy are going with them. (Wow, am I ever gonna miss her!) I wish I was going but I’m also thankful that it means more time with Andrew, who is staying with me and Riley. Maybe I can get out running again like last time….
Xena: Hey! It’s my turn to do the poem and the thankfuls! Chia: So, Xena Weena, do you wanna go riding with the motorcycle gang? Cause, ya know, that’s what’s happenin’ here, sis. Xena: OK, but I want to give a thankful or two. Chia: Deal!
Chia: OK folks here we go, with lots of thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!
Me and My Homieby Chia My home boy, my dew rag, now all I’ll need’s a bike. Chuck’s a little nerdy but he’s also very nice. We’re here to ask please, can you donate a trike?
Xena: Uh, thanks, Chia. Now it’s my turn. Riley: Hold up, Xena. Now it’s my turn!
Riley and My Boyby Riley I can’t let you join this gang, You mean too much, my boy. I know it’s been your heart’s desire… Wait! I’ll run get a toy.
You’ll go off with these bikers, You’ll leave me all alone. You might get hurt in fights or wrecks, And even break a bone!
I need to have your pets and laughs And playful loving, won’t you stay? Tell Mom to get your stroller out; We’ll be our own “gang” today!
Xena: Wow, you two did really good. I’m thankful today to have a little sister and a big brother who love me. And a big sister who loves me too!
Chia: Hi friends! *whole body wags* Mom said I should do the Poem this week ’cause I’m the one who always “be who I am and say what I feel!” Yep, I’d be right there dancin’ with this fella. Anyhoo, I’m letting Dr. Seuss do the poem, cause, like, who could do it better? Am I right?
I still want to add my own poem.
Chia Weeah by Chia Weeah I’ve got the cutest doggie, She is my Chia Weeah. I can’t bring her to work; She might go peeah weeah.
BOL, Lucy, we’re never gonna let you forget what you did! Now here’s the real reason Mom won’t take me:
I can’t go into work; I might run out the door And get squished by the traffic. Chia weeah’d be no more.
I’m thankful that brother Andrew is staying with all of us this weekend while Mom and Dad go do the 3 D’s in a place called Ybor City. Ybor City is part of Tampa, where Mom lived for a year when she was a very young adult. She sure has strange stories about her year there!
Xena: What’s the 3 D’s? Doggie, Doggie, Doggie?
Chia: No, oh sister of mine. It’s Dining, Drinking and Dancing!
I hope you enjoyed my silliness today. *wags* Many thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!
Chia and Xena lick the plastic wrappings their Ollie food comes in after I empty it while preparing their next supper and breakfast. I usually feed raw, but when I don’t have meat in the house or am just feeling lazy or rushed, I give them this pre-made, gently cooked food for raw or almost-raw fed dogs. And for people who can’t stand the thought of feeding raw, but want a healthier diet for their dogs. (No, I’m not getting anything for telling you this!)
Along with that, Chia knows if scraps of food are sitting on the edge of the kitchen counter, she is allowed to eat them. With that info, here is Chia!
This little girl, for as naughty as she can sometimes be, gives us so many smiles and laughter, and warms our hearts.
Thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Happy Tuesday Blog Hop!
Lucy: This is supposed to be my month to most of the blog posts, but everyone else has been taking over ’cause I don’t like my picture taken. So for today, I made a deal with Chia. I’ll let her be in the picture – with a by-line – and then I get to do the poem. Oh, and she also gets to do a thankful or two.
First, many thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!
Now, here’s the picture Angel Sammy gave us to work with and then my poem!
Human or Beastby Lucy, with Chia helping with the visual Human or beast, I’m questioning. I see a long tail, but no sight of it’s “thing.” I’m sniffing it’s butt; no odor at all! If I push real hard, I might make it fall!!
Sniffing up higher…yep, woman for sure. I live with my Mom and know that odor. I’ve got it all solved! The beast is cement. The broad’s on it’s back with a coat like a tent.
Lucy: Since it was Chia in the picture I pretended she was here writing the poem. I think I did pretty good at that. I’m thankful to have you as my friends. Everyone is always so nice to me. *wags* And as you’re reading this I’m probably at the church visiting with Pastor. Mom said she hopes I’ve learned my lesson, and I think I have.
Chia: I like getting my picture taken, just like Xena!
Sis Xena isn’t gonna be too happy about not going to work with Mom every day, but eh bien, right Nelly? I’m thankful to be allowed to sleep under the covers with Mom and Dad. Sometimes I’m in sleeping with Andrew and Riley, and that’s really great, too! And I’m thankful that Dad has started taking me for walks again! And I’m really thankful for my sister Lucy. She’s my BFF (even though I don’t always treat her real nice). But I do love her and cuddle and sleep with her, too, during the day.
Guess that’s all for now, friends. Love and *wags* and *wiggles,* Lucy and Chia
Hey there, friends! You may – or may not – have noticed that I’ve gotten to do the posting for a whole week long! It’s been a blast! (Mom says it helps keep me outa trouble.)
But all good things must come to an end…or at least slow down for just a bit. So here’s my last post before my brother and sisters get their turns…for maybe weeks…who knows?! **wiggles**
Partying (or Tie Up Your Boat Better) by Chia
We found a little island in the middle of the river. I said, “Let’s stop and drink some booze e’en though it kills your liver.” We drank and laughed and barked and howled until we all fell over. Didn’t notice when the river round the island moved in closer. Or when the boat we all came on broke free to float down river.
We fell asleep and spent the night til we all had to pee. The boat was gone, and snapping turtles waited in the lee. I saw some ducks who had no legs attached below the knee, I knew I wasn’t jumping in – didn’t want that to be me! Finally our pawrent appeared to rescue all us three!
The End
Now I’m passing the keyboard over to Xena who’s got some thankfuls today. Take it away, galfriend! Xena: Uh, thanks, Chia. I am sorry for Lucy who lost her church privileges for reasons I have sworn to her to keep secret. But I am thankful that I have been chosen to be the new church dog as long as I don’t pee on the carpet.
I pooped in the room next to the office, but that was easy to clean up and I was only in a little bit of trouble. Now Mom’s taking me out to potty more often. The treats are good and it’s a good gig if you can get it (and not lose it, Loosy!)
Your friends, Chia Mia and Xexe
Chia: Pee Ess, when do I get to go to the church with Mom? Everyone: NEVER!!
Mom’s note: Chia would be a great church dog if she didn’t have the chance to run out the door that’s just outside of my office and get squished on a very busy road!
I wanted to see outside. I was tired of the same old view through the windows while sitting on the loveseat. It was very limiting. I saw the chair at Mom’s desk. It even had a nice soft pillow on it. So I moved it over and positioned it so I could sit in it and watch out the window.
Oh, hi Mom. Not doing anything, just the usual neighborhood watch. How’d the chair get over here? I put it here. What’s the big deal? You weren’t using it.
Sure, you can take my picture for Awww Monday. I get a treat for it, right? And tell everyone I said “Hey!”
Many thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Awww Monday!
