Mommy, is that Chia sleeping behind me?

So, Mom did one of those AI things, telling it to do a rat terrier/Jack Russell mix. Not bad, huh? But she forgot the daschund part of me. And the freckles, BOL!

So, since it’s still my birthday month, I get to do the poem again. Hope you like it!

My Emotional Support Baby by Chia
It was bathtime again, I hate it so much!
I shake and I fight and don’t want to be touched!
Mom got me a baby to help me to cope.
I settled down even when covered with soap.
I think this might work! But do I have to share
My food or my bed or the comb for my hair?
I think this will work; I can lick his small hands.
And play with his toes. Oh! I’ve got some fun plans!
I hope you like my poem. *whole body wags* But I still don’t think I would like getting my bath.
I am so thankful I don’t have to get a bath very often like Xena, who gets one every weekend. She told me she is almost human; she has hair and skin like people, and, like people, has to get washed up lots more often than me with my dog hair. Hmph. I’ll take my dog hair any old day if it means fewer baths!
Finally….and I was a good girl! Thomas the mailman was so happy to see me; he said he’s missed me a lot! And he gave me a treat. The group that meets at the church right next to my office were all happy to see me and everyone kept fussing over me and complimenting me. Maybe I’ll be able to go back again. Whew, I’m tired. It was a busy day!

As many of you know, our Angel Lexi was a theater dog (among many more things). She rehearsed for six weeks before performing 27 times on stage in the main theatre at the Chattanooga Theatre Center. She made a great impression even before the show opened…and later, after the closing of the Wizard of Oz – which, by the way, brought in a record crowd of 7,000 people, Lexi won her own Annie Award, the first ever given to an animal at that theater.
You should have seen me at the Annie Awards just before the show opened. I wore a white tux collar and red bow tie – I just knew clothes were going to enter into this at some point! Mom says it was, after all, a black tie affair. So where does this red bow tie come in? Mom wore a red gown to match my red bow tie. I worked the crowd. Pet me, feed me, adore me. And they did. Mom managed to ruin it a bit when she stood up on a chair and warned everyone, “Do not give any ham to the schnauzer.”
After the social hour in the lobby, I sat on Mom’s lap for the awards in the auditorium – the one where I will be performing. At first, all the clapping, yelling and hooting bothered me. After about 20 minutes I decided it didn’t matter and settled down to watch the awards, even taking a little nap at the end. Then back to the lobby for dessert! I found the cream puff table and stood with my front paws on it, looking longingly at the treats – not without reward! The director is extremely impressed with my behavior, everyone’s reactions to me and my reactions back to them. What does he expect? When I am nice everyone feeds me treats and pets me. Isn’t that what life is all about, anyhow? So Mom says I don’t have to wear any more clothes during the play. That’s good. Now, if I could just get rid of those darned flying monkeys.
Woof, woof! LexiToto

Open Wide by Chia
Hey lady, that’s right, open up wide
And let me take a good look inside.
I’m heading to college and need to decide
What type of service I will soon provide.
Dentistry is high up on my list…
I’ve also thought of being a linguist.
But these gorgeous teeth I can’t resist.
My mind’s made up, thanks for your assist!
I’m not sure I’d want a monkey looking in my mouth, let along messing with my teeth, ya know?
Anyhoo, Lucy’s finally back home — and so’s my Dad. I’m super thankful for that! Xena’s playing with me more, too, and that’s been nice. I’ll be even more thankful when the weather cools off a bit and we can go walking when Mom gets home from work. Hope to see y’all again soon!
XOXOXOXOX Chia!

Hi there, dear readers! I’m Lucy, Ace Reporter reporting on two pups coming to Small Dog Grooming for the first time. Their Mom found us, er, I mean found Groomer Mom, on the local Nextdoor App and was glad to have someone nearby to take care of her pups’ grooming needs.
Both pups are rescues and about eight years old. First, let’s take a look at Coco, a tiny five pound shih tzu. This is her “before” picture. (Guess her Mom had been looking for a new groomer for a while!)

Her Mom was very specific about how she wanted her groomed, including leaving her ears that long and the very different look of how her face was to be groomed. She wanted the whole top part shaved, and the lower sides and bottom part left long. Well, even though that went against the grain, so to say, with G.M., she did what was asked. By the way, Coco is a very sweet little girl and even gave G.M. a couple of kisses.
Here is Coco after her groom:

Next up is Coco’s adopted sister, Sophie. She’s a PomChi, and also only five pounds. She’s very much attached to her Mom and was a bit scared being left here. But Groomer Mom loved on her and talked sweet to her the whole time to try to help her feel ok. Here is Sophie’s “before” picture:

She’s also a precious girl, and asked G.M to hold her. She was only getting what G.M. calls a “mini-groom.” That’s when the pups get their nails cut, face, private areas and paws cleaned up. Her Mom also wanted some of the hairs sticking out around her “scruff” trimmed just a bit, as well as her ears. G.M. also slightly trimmed her legs. So, now, what you’ve been waiting for:

Their Mom was tickled, and later texted G.M. to tell her how much she loved their grooms. She said with the difference in price in what she had been paying (about half), she could get them groomed more often. (She also tipped G.M. very well!) G.M. will welcome these two sweet girls back anytime!
Lucy, Ace Reporter, with signing off.
First off, I want to woof a big thanks to The Cat on My Head for hosting Sunday Selfies!
I decided to break my stereotype. Here I am in a regal pose!
Y’all have a good Sunday. I’m going to go bother my friend Jentry now. I know she’s here somewhere.
XOXOXOXOX Chia, the Birthday Month Girl
Good morning! Chia’s still asleep so I’m doing our post today. If she wants to keep this birthday month of blogging to herself, she’d better get up earlier! Thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. Here’s his picture and my haiku poem for this week.

There’s scooters for all ages
But none for a dog.
I don’t want one anyhow.
That’s my first haiku. Whatcha think?
I have to tell y’all about what’s going on in my Freestyle world that I think I’m happy about. Mommy took me and Chia a coupla weeks ago to practice, just the 3 of us. It was supposed to be Chia’s turn to learn a dance routine and go get her first title this November. Mommy wanted Chia to watch and learn from me, since she imitates me a lot. So I got to dance around the floor first with my Mommy, then I had to go in the kennel while Chia went out and tried it. I quickly discovered the kennel door wasn’t latched, so I ran out and joined the fun. Instead of stopping, Mommy kept going with both of us. Sometimes me and Chia danced right next to each other and sometimes we danced with Mommy between us. Mommy was so thrilled with what we did that we went back last Friday and met Miss Julia there so she could watch us and help with suggestions. BTW (that means By The Way), one person dancing with two dogs is called a Brace. Miss Julia videoed it. Mommy says please remember, this is only the second time we’ve done this, and we’re just “piddling around” out on the floor. Chia’s still got a lot to learn.
I didn’t think I was going to get to do Freestyle again this year, but I don’t mind sharing a performance with the long dog as long as I get to dance, too. Besides, I’m a lot more experienced and confident and can kinda push her around out there teach her things. So that’s my thankful for today. Oops, she’s waking up. I’d better hit “publish” now. Have a great rest of the week and do what you love!

Our four-year-old Chia was just two weeks short of her first birthday when this picture was taken. At this point she’d been part of our household for about four months.
Thanks to Comedy Plus for hosting Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop! (Well, we were almost wordless!)
Hey folks. Feelin’ kind of sad. Lucy left. She went on a long drive in the car with Dad to our Grandma’s. She left real early yesterday, and I thought she’d be home by now.

Me and Xena, we’ve been playing, and Mom’s been working with me some on Freestyle and on walking nice, like not pulling on the leash, outside with her. I’ve been getting lots of treat cheese. But it’s just not the same without Lucy, ya know?
It’s like there’s something wrong with this picture.

Guess I’ll hang out on the couch with Riley for a while. Even though he has my pillow. And I’m in Lucy’s spot. But at least our butts are touching. Maybe she’ll be home tomorrow…
Thanks Comedy Plus for hosting Awww Mondays.
Man, my July 4th birthday was all it was cracked up to be! So far so good with the fireworks…but it’s still daylight. I may have to try to comfort Lucy and Xena later on tonight. I’ll just remind Mom about the CBD oil and valerian. That should do it!
My day started off with a great walk around the neighborhood with my folks and Lucy and Xena. I was hoping I’d see my friend Pam or my friend Ron but it must have been too early for them to be out.
Around noon Mom surprised us all with meaty raw beef rib bones. OMD! They were so good!!! Lucy chewed hers up and ate it all before me and Xena had even gotten all the meat off ours. I kept mine hidden outside and chewed on it off and on all day. Finally Mom traded me a treat for the little bit that was left. Deal!
Then, just before all the folks sat down to eat their holiday feast Mom gave me my present to dig out of a bag!

At first I thought the thing was a mop head. I thought, “What the heck, a mop head might be fun to play with, right?” Then I got it clear out and started to smell treats. Even the best mops don’t smell like treats…

On the back of the mop head were little X-es that were cut open with a treat in each one. Later, Mom confessed to having put them there. Here’s what the insert said about what I found out wasn’t a mop:
Eddie the Eel
“Eddie is not your ordinary dog toy; he’s a daring deep-sea explorer! With his flexible body that can be rolled and twisted, Eddie loves to surprise your furry friend with hidden treats cleverly tucked away in his lifelike fish scales…the mop-like velvet fabric isn’t just soft and huggable, it’s also great for cleaning your pup’s teeth as they explore his unique texture.”
So his name is Eddie and he’s an eel and he’s my new toothbrush that sometimes gives me treats. Hmmm. At least he screams when I bite him!
Then I went back to the bag, thinking I’d missed something, and sure enough, there was another stuffie in there! (And that weird thing on the front of my collar is a Gee Pee Ess tracker. I can’t run off anywhere without them knowing and finding me!)

Back to my present number 2. A duck. Hmmm. Looks like a dead duck to me.
Hey, Mom, is this duck dead? I found it that way. I didn’t do it!

Come on, I”ll take you..wait! You’re screaming! And making crinkly noises! Hey, you might be fun to play with after all! I think I”ll call you Howard.
“Yawn” It’s been a good day…

…I wonder what we’ll do tomorrow…

*wags, wags, wags, wags* Hi, it’s me, Chia, the birthday girl! In case you haven’t heard, I’m turning four years old today, and the whole country is celebrating! I’ve decided to give the first picture poem of my birthday month to Angel Lexi. Hey, maybe I am growing up!
I’ve heard she used to help our folks teach ballroom dance, so I knew she would be the expert on this. She sent me this poem to share with y’all today.
First, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.

You’re Doing It Wrong by Angel Lexi
Please try to keep on beat
Stop looking at your feet!
Hold paws and move closer
And please don’t call me “sir.”
If you want to rumba
Stop dancing the samba.
You flew me to the North Pole
Cause your dance ain’t got no soul.
Don’t give up though it seems hopeless.
You two just have to focus.
This lesson’s going on your card
So you two just keep trying hard.
Chia: Do you see the credit card by Angel Lexi’s paw? Wow, she thought of everything. I knew she was the right one to do the poem for this picture! When she helped teach ballroom dance she always watched the teens practice and barked at them when they were doing it wrong. Then Mom or Dad had to go over and say, “Show me,” to the couple Lexi had singled out. And, sure enough, they were always doing it wrong. Maybe someday I can do that, too.
Riley: Dream on, hot dog. Me and Lexi, we didn’t always like each other, but she knew what she was doing and was always good at it. There’ll never be another like her. But I have to say, it was mighty nice of you to give her your special day poem. Maybe you really are growing up, Chia.
Chia: *wags* Thanks, RiBoy. *wags* Hey, everyone, I’ll be back tomorrow to share how my special birthday went today, with all my presents and great food. *paws crossed* In the meantime, I’m also letting Lucy do our Independence Day wishes. (I should get extra treats for this!)
I do want to do the thankfuls today. I’m thankful brother Andrew rescued me(when my name was Chico) and brought me here from a bad situation. Then when my previous dad got outa jail and wanted me, Andrew just said I had gone to live with someone else and they won’t give me back (all true). My life here is so, so good!! I love my sister Lucy the most, and I’m so thankful she has put up with me for over three years. And I love my Mom and Dad and cuddling between them in the big bed at night. And I’m thankful for my sister Xena, too. We’re the same size and have fun playing together. I’m thankful for my yummy food and I’m thankful that Mom’s giving me a chance at Freestyle! Wow, I’ve got a lot to be thankful for, don’t I?! *whole body wags*
Happy Fourth of July!!!
Chia

Chia: Hey Xebo, why you lookin’ so sad? And why d’you have that blanket over you.
Xena: The name’s XENA, The air conditioning is cold. And I feel bad that this is my last birthday month picture for this year.
Chia: Wellllll *wags tail* let’s go outside on the patio and play!
*a few minutes later* Xena: I’m gonna get you!

Chia: No, I’m gonna get YOU! Ow, my leg!

Chia: Maybe you should go back in and get your throw-back picture ready.
Xena: Yep, I’m gonna find a good one. Then Mommy will help me take new ones for the rest of the year!
Here we go. This was my very first Freestyle Title. This was in November of 2018 and I was just a little over 2 years old. We were performing in Level 2b.

That was a very good day! Yep, I feel much better now.
Your friend and Freestyle pup, Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
What’s RC? It’s Rock City, of course! The place I used to have so much fun every March and October. I heard they aren’t doing this fun stuff anymore and that makes me sad. But it makes me happy to remember all the fun times I had there! These memories are from March 2018, when I was nine months old. This first one is me with my Daddy.

I saw my Mommy set down the empty cup that she had been drinking from. I wanted to go ‘splore it…you know, take a taste! And help out by licking the cup clean.

Mmmm, I still remember it was full of foamy goodness. It tasted like ice cream and something else… Mmmmm.
Turns out, it was an ice cream beer float. Mmmmm.

What else can I say? Except that was the only one I ever got..

It was sooooo gooooood.
Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

Did you know I was only 4 1/2 months old when I first started learning to play the accordion? Now Daddy has his own that he’s learning to play. Maybe we can play them together?! (I will need a refresher course.)
First thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!
These pictures were taken on the second Christmas Eve after I was born. It was 2018, and I was one and one half years old. This is my Uncle Bill. He’s belongs to my Auntie Jen. I wasn’t sure about him at first, ’cause I hadn’t been around him much.

But I thought about it and smelled him and looked at him and decided I liked him! (And I still do.)
I’m thankful I have people who I love and who loves me. That’s important. And I’m thankful I have a nice little bed in the big bedroom I can start out the night sleeping in, and that I can climb the stairs to the big bed and curl up with my Mommy whenever I want during the night. She almost always puts her arm around me and we sleep together like that until morning. I’m thankful my Mommy loves me so much.
This is Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess, celebrating my birthday month.

Hi Friends! First, a big thank you to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. And lots of thanks for all the happy birthday wishes last week! I’m now 7 years and 1 week old. It’s still my birthday month, so I get to write the poem again, whoo hoo!
Rough Saling
Word got out I’d run away;
A found reward was on my head.
I’d just gone shopping for the day!
Now I’ll be trampled and found dead.
It’s supper-time, my stomach growls.
Across their heads I quickly run.
All these folks! I’m in hell’s bowels.
I’ll be home soon with my own Mom.
Now for my thankfuls. Hmmm. I’m thankful to live in my home with air conditioning. It’s been sooooo hot outside! And I’m thankful I have my little sister Chia to play with. Sometimes she’s a, a, shall we say, a pest? But she’s my sister and I love her. And I’m thankful for all my blogging friends, too!
Your Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

Chia: Is it MY birthday yet?
Xena: Nope. Not for another 87 days.
Mom’s note: We will celebrate Chia’s 4th birthday on July 4th!
T’was the night ‘fore my birthday and up on the couch
Was my Mommy and me and Chia made three.
‘Twas supposed to be just my Mommy and me!
Te, he, that’s my funny poem on my birthday. Here are the pictures my Daddy took of the “night before.”

Chia didn’t even laugh. She’s just jealous. Her 4th birthday is in two weeks. I won’t laugh at her jokes then, either!
Today me and Mommy took a walk through the neighborhood while it was still only 65 degrees. I got to sniff and go anywhere I wanted (as long as the leash reached that far). I saw the orange cat that was on our front porch this week and barked at a man out walking and pooped in the neighbor’s yard. It was a good walk
Then, when Mommy was done grooming two other dogs, she took me to the Home Depot store. She carried me in ’cause the pavement was so hot. By then it was over 90 degrees outside. We walked all over the store, and everyone looked at me and smiled and lots of folks said hi to me and said what a beautiful girl I am, and I wagged my tail at them. That was my best trip ever to Home Depot!
Then, when we got home, Daddy left and went to the store. Guess what he came home with…a doggie cake! He and Mommy invited me to sit in a chair at the table with them. I wasn’t too sure about that.

It did look a lot like a dog, but it smelled really good, like something good to eat! Mommy said Daddy has a strange sense of humor, to which he said, “Don’t you remember? You got a cake just like this for Lexi.” Ready for a flashback?

I think mine was cuter. And bigger. I ate a couple of bites or three, then Lucy and Chia got a bite (Riley didn’t want any). Then Mommy and Andrew finished it off (Daddy can’t eat cake).

Can you see Chia watching it all closely?
I think all that sugar’s making me sleepy, so I’ll woof with all y’all again soon.
