Xena’s Rough Saling and Thankfuls

Hi Friends! First, a big thank you to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.  And lots of thanks for all the happy birthday wishes last week! I’m now 7 years and 1 week old. It’s still my birthday month, so I get to write the poem again, whoo hoo!

Rough Saling

Word got out I’d run away;
A found reward was on my head.
I’d just gone shopping for the day!
Now I’ll be trampled and found dead.

It’s supper-time, my stomach growls.
Across their heads I quickly run.
All these folks! I’m in hell’s bowels.
I’ll be home soon with my own Mom.

Now for my thankfuls. Hmmm. I’m thankful to live in my home with air conditioning. It’s been sooooo hot outside! And I’m thankful I have my little sister Chia to play with. Sometimes she’s a, a, shall we say, a pest? But she’s my sister and I love her. And I’m thankful for all my blogging friends, too!

Xena’s Thankful Poetry Thursday

Hi Friends! First, a big thank you to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. It’s my turn again since tomorrow is my birthday. I’m going to be seven whole years old! Someone told me that my birthday is on the summer equinox, also called the first day of summer. I hate to tell you this, someone, but today is the first day of summer! Happy summer, everyone!! And boy oh boy, if summer’s as hot as our spring has been I’ll be spending most of my time inside in the air conditioning. I get overheated real fast. Enough about the weather… here’s my poem.

A Tale of a Tail by Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

I wonder what everyone’s giggling about.
I’m a person with considerable clout!
Oh no! Tee Pee hanging out like a tail…
This can’t be known on my campaign trail.
I’ll make something up, I’ll claim it’s AI.
I’ll win the election with that big fat lie!

Lucy: You know it’s never good to lie, Xena.
Xena: I know Lucy, but sometimes we all – even you – lie just a little when Mommy comes home and asks us if we had our supper after Daddy’s already fed us. We all start yelling, “I want to eat! I want to eat!” Maybe we should be thankful that Mommy never lets us lie.
Lucy: Uh, in this case, that thankful would probably be a lie.

Chia: Well, I’m thankful that Gracie came to stay with us last weekend and, after the first day here, my enthusiasm stopped scaring her and she hung out with us.

Gracie, previously good friends with Lexi

And we’re all thankful that Riley’s still hangin’ in there and HP Andrew’s still hangin’ here with him!

Bye bye for now! Xena, soon to be birthday girl. (I heard that I’m getting to go see my peeps brother Adam tomorrow!)

Xena’s Thankful Poetry Thursday (hic)

Hi Folks! I get my blog back for the rest of the month cause it’s my birthday month. I’ll be seven whole years old on the first day of summer! I think I might be old enough to drink something other than water now, and I’d like to start with that kalua that Mommy likes. Here’s my poem…uh, maybe I shouldn’t start drinking…or maybe I shouldn’t start driving…

First, though, a big thank you to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. And here we go….

Don’t Drink and Drive by Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

I wanted to take Mommy’s car for a spin.
I didn’t know what trouble I’d soon be in.
I grabbed a big bottle off the lower shelf
Thinking I would drink all of it all by myself.

Out of the driveway and on down the street,
I found drinking while driving was quite a feat.
I’d never done either before this wild day
And learned that at home I really should stay.

I barked and I laughed and then I got sick;
I barfed in the car all over the shift stick.
Next thing I knew I was parked ‘tween two cars.
I crawled out the window and blew a loud fart.

Many police arrived and one read my name tag;
When he called my Mommy I gave a small wag.
We can’t give a dog a D.U.I. they said,
You need to come get her and put her to bed.

No more will I drink and no more will I drive;
I’m very happy to be home and alive.
Just one little thing I do wish that I knew…
How’d I park in a space that’s just a walk-through?

Mommy has taught me better than to drink anything but water and she has showed me I can’t drive cause I can’t reach the pedals or see over the front dashboard. Besides, I get scared riding in the car when I’m not in my backseat kennel. I just wanted to ‘splain this to you to make sure you didn’t think this really happened! I’m real thankful that I have my Mommy to take me places.

Lucy: I’m thankful I have Mom and Dad to be close to when it thunderstorms.

Chia: I’m thankful I’m not scared of thunderstorms.

Riley: I’m thankful My Person Andrew is still here with me and helping me any time of the day or night that I need help. That includes taking me out when I really have to go in a hurry and cleaning up after me when I don’t quite make it outside. I still have trouble breathing at times, but MP Andrew has taught me to lift up my head and lay it on my bolster or the arm of the couch if I’m up there, and then I can breathe easier.

Thanks for stopping by to read my poem and thankfuls today! Xena

Thankful Poetry Thursday with Lucy

Hi Friends, Lucy here. First I will give thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. And here it is.

Who’s Flying the Plane? by Lucy

Have you both gone insane?
No one’s flying this plane!
I don’t mean to complain…
Are you both on cocaine?

I’m just a poor dog
And my brain’s in a fog.
Don’t know who I can text
Or just what to do next.

Guess I’ll climb in the pit
And there I will sit
Trying this plane to fly
So we all do not die!

I’m thankful my Mom and little sister Xena are back home with us. Of course, Chia helped keep me from getting too lonely. And I’m thankful that if my friend Riley absolutely had to have the squirts all day last Sunday that they finally stopped and he’s OK.

Xena: I’m thankful I got my Level 4 title in Freestyle and that we made it safely there and back. And that my Mommy wants to do this with me!

Chia: I’m thankful my Mom and sister are back too.
Xena: Did you miss me, Chia.
Chia: No. But we didn’t get all the yummy fruit and veggie extras in our meals that Mom puts in there.

Happy Thankful Thursday, everyone!

Xena’s Thankful Thursday Poetry

Hey there *wags* it’s me, Xena. Riley’s in his room napping with Andrew, so I grabbed this chance to be able to write the poem this week. *clears throat* First I will give thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. And here it is.

Oh Dog! by Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Another one of these meetings at work.
This guy won’t shut up and he’s such a big dork.
He thinks he’s important, he thinks he’s the best,
But in his portfolio no one will invest.

Don’t look at the clock, don’t stare at the wall.
Where’s the treats or excitement? There is none at all.
I’d get up and go home but my Mommy won’t leave.
She fell asleep with the keys half an hour before me.

I’m thankful I don’t have to go to meetings! I’m also thankful that my Freestyle show is this weekend. Me and Mommy are driving up to Cleveland, Ohio with our friend Julia and her pup Jinx. Jinx is going to get her Level 3 title and I’m going for my Level 4. Of course I’m a few years older than Jinx and have been doing Freestyle a lot longer. Keep us in your purrayers and thoughts for safe travel (and that Mommy doesn’t mess up). We’ll share a video and maybe pictures too (if someone will take them) after we get back next week.

Your dancing dog friend, Xena

Run Away! by Riley

Many thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Here’s Angel Sammy’s fun picture and my poem for it.

Run away! Run away! by Riley

Run away kids, run as fast as you can.
No, your parents aren’t blind, they just don’t understand
They think it’s just soil from the water’s bottom,
But it’s really a monster, too late when you spot ‘im.
Run!

Well, at least I got one little kid moving! I’m thankful that I can still move around, too. I’m coughing more, but I’ve learned to lift my head up or lay it on a pillow and that helps. My Person Andrew’s been with me all week, but he’s leaving to stay with Jentry tomorrow cause it’s some big anniversary for them. I’m sure he’ll be back on Sunday, but I’ll miss him. *cough, gag, cough*

Your buddy, Riley

The Makeup Artist by Xena

Many thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Xena: It’s my turn to do the picture poem this week that Angel Sammy gave us. So here goes.

The Makeup Artist by Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

Mom, I see you put your makeup on
Every day, every morn.
Your cheeks are first, then chin and head.
I watch you from beneath my bed.

My little sis will soon be grown;
I’ll help her show off her good bones.
Some eye stuff just above her cheeks;
Working to perfect my techniques.

So Mom, can I do your face next?
Why is it that you look so vexed?
To my room I go with a big sob;
I thought that I did a great job!

Lucy: Great job, Xena! And thanks for letting me do a thankful today. I’m thankful that my brother and friend Riley is doing a bit better under the careful watch and care of His Person Andrew. I’m also thankful for the sunshine so I can lay out in the yard and feel it warming my furs.
Go ahead, Chia, I think you had a thankful today too.

Chia: Yep, thanks Luce the Deuce! (te he) I’m thankful Mom and Dad get to go away to Inn Dee Anna this weekend to visit my 93 year old grandma as well as some more of Dad’s relatives. I heard that on Sunday they’re going to Inn Deann Apple Us. (Don’t these places have long, strange names?) There’s a big dance there in a huge, old ballroom, and they’re doing the big 3D’s like they did 2 weeks ago. Yes, Xena, that’s Dine, Drink and Dance, not Doggie, Doggie, Doggie. And guess what, Xena…you and Lucy are going with them. (Wow, am I ever gonna miss her!) I wish I was going but I’m also thankful that it means more time with Andrew, who is staying with me and Riley. Maybe I can get out running again like last time….

Chia’s Poem and Thankful Thursday

Thanks to Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week and to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday!

Hey there, friends! You may – or may not – have noticed that I’ve gotten to do the posting for a whole week long! It’s been a blast! (Mom says it helps keep me outa trouble.)

But all good things must come to an end…or at least slow down for just a bit. So here’s my last post before my brother and sisters get their turns…for maybe weeks…who knows?! **wiggles**

Partying (or Tie Up Your Boat Better)  by Chia

We found a little island in the middle of the river.
I said, “Let’s stop and drink some booze e’en though it kills your liver.”
We drank and laughed and barked and howled until we all fell over.
Didn’t notice when the river round the island moved in closer.
Or when the boat we all came on broke free to float down river.

We fell asleep and spent the night til we all had to pee.
The boat was gone, and snapping turtles waited in the lee.
I saw some ducks who had no legs attached below the knee,
I knew I wasn’t jumping in – didn’t want that to be me!
Finally our pawrent appeared to rescue all us three!

The End

Now I’m passing the keyboard over to Xena who’s got some thankfuls today. Take it away, galfriend!
Xena: Uh, thanks, Chia. I am sorry for Lucy who lost her church privileges for reasons I have sworn to her to keep secret. But I am thankful that I have been chosen to be the new church dog as long as I don’t pee on the carpet.

I pooped in the room next to the office, but that was easy to clean up and I was only in a little bit of trouble. Now Mom’s taking me out to potty more often. The treats are good and it’s a good gig if you can get it (and not lose it, Loosy!)

Your friends, Chia Mia and Xexe

Chia: Pee Ess, when do I get to go to the church with Mom?
Everyone: NEVER!!

Mom’s note: Chia would be a great church dog if she didn’t have the chance to run out the door that’s just outside of my office and get squished on a very busy road!

Thankful Thursday

It’s just my third Christmas, but I think I have it figured out. We get presents, and sometimes give presents to others, too. I got a kind of a present in that I got to do the picture poem today!

Get Up Santa    by Chia

Santa, Santa, please don’t die!
All kids across the world will cry.
Santa, please don’t just lay there!
I’ve brought Ratto ; we can play here.

Did you just drink too much eggnog?
What can I do, I’m just a small dog!
Come on, I want to drive your sleigh.
Get up, Santa, so we can play!

Now my thankful: I’m thankful for my good food and that Mom threw out the rest of the rotten alligator meat. Yuck! And I’m thankful for my stuffies and hope I get more from Santa Paws! Hey Santa Paws, I’m being a good girl! Chia

Thanks to Angel Sammy for the picture this week and for Angel Brian’s Home Blog for Thankful Thursday.

Thanksgiving Thankfuls and Poetry Thursday

Chia: I made my poem short and to the point so everyone could get back to eating turkey.

There’s an Outhouse by Chia the Thanksgiving Injun

There’s an old outhouse
So we don’t pee inhouse

And we’re all thankful to Angel Sammy for the picture this week and for Brian’s Home Blog for Thankful Thursday.

Speaking of Thankful Thursday…

Riley: Chia! Why are you dressed like an Indian? Mom Amy said we should dress like pilgrims for our Thanksgiving picture. We even had a meeting and I decided we’d all just wear pilgrim hats. What’s wrong with you, long dog?

Chia: I’m a rebel. And I can run faster than you.
Lucy: Everyone please just stand still and look at the camera. The sooner we get this over with the better.
Chia: Xena, where you goin’?
Xena: I think I see a critter…

Thankful Poetry Thursday

Well, since I’m the male of our 4-legged pack, I said I would investigate the house in this picture and write the poem. If you look closely, you’ll see that’s not a tree behind the house, it’s a monster. When I realized this, I high-tailed it out of there as fast as my legs could carry me! But I’ve still got a poem for you.

The Scary Goon Behind the Castle by Riley

Wednesday, are you going home to your scary castle?
Morticia’s there with Dad Gomez and Lurch, your trusted vassal.
But who’s that goon in your backyard, with him I wouldn’t wrassle!
I’m outa here, I’m headin’ home, to my less scary passel.

That experience has made me thankful there’s nothing scarier than the vacula in our house. And lately I’ve been taking it on when Mom Amy starts pushing it around the floor. Oh yeah, I’ve attacked it once or twice. Mom Amy just laughs and tells me to go somewhere it isn’t.

Mom Amy: I’m thankful our Riley, at the ripe old age of 13, is still with us, going on walks, attacking the vacuum, and even occasionally playing with Chia. I’m also thankful the insurance company is paying for the new roof we got this week. It seems every time the wind blew another piece of our old roof flew off onto the ground.

And we’re all thankful to Angel Sammy for the picture this week and for Brian’s Home Blog for Thankful Thursday.

Xena’s Poem on Thankful Thursday

As always, we’re thankful to both Brian for hosting Brian’s Thankful Thursday and to  Angel Sammy for the fun picture this week.

Hi, it’s me, Xena, the rightful owner of this blog. And no comments from the peanut gallery, Chia. There’s another reason why I get to do the poem for this week’s picture…I’m the only pup in this family who has been to Paris. See, here’s proof!

With that, let’s move on to today’ picture and poem, where I’m back in gay Paris!

Montmartre…Again by Xena the Schnauzer (Warrior Princess)

Is that a pic of my last time here?
Everything new in my first year,
Oh what a puppy I was back then!
The joy of Montmartre had me smitten.

Again I’ll visit  Sacré-Cœur
But of Moulin Rouge I will stay clear.
Then I’ll visit Van Gogh’s house,
Moving quietly as a mouse.

So soon it’s time to fly back home,
Landing in Georgia, I’ll ne’er more roam!
In my pocket the picture I found,
I bend my head to kiss the ground.

Now for my thankful: I’m thankful to be able to translate my poem into French!

Montmartreencore par Xena the Schnauzer (Warrior Princess)

Hmmm. I think it sounds better in English, don’t you?

Thanks to all my friends who come by to visit me here. Y’all are the best!!
