Lucy’s Thankful Thursday and Poetry

Lucy: I’m thankful for Angel Brian, who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the fun picture every week. I hope no one is upset that I added one little detail to the picture – do you see it? Now for my poem.

Double Jeopardy by Lucy

The workers drove a jeep of blue,
Climbing the cliffs of Timbuktu.
To build a house upon the top
Despite the precarious drop.

Then suddenly there did appear
A huge creature with lots of hair,
Blocking the path they must traverse;
They feared returning in a hearse.

Slowly they did back away
While hoping Sasquatch there would stay.
‘T’was not a place a home to build
Unless you were in a Big Foot guild!

Wow, I sure hope my Mom and Dad never decide to do something like that. I’ll have to say, “Just leave me here!”

Chia: I was very sad when Miss Jentry went home on Sunday evening. I curled up in bed with Bro Andrew and cried for a while. But I’m thankful she’s coming back this Sunday…maybe even sooner!

Xena: I’m thankful that our twice a year vet visit to have blood drawn for our DNA heartworm test is done. I don’t like going to the vet. I hide under the chair.
Chia: Hey Xeboo, didn’t you hear what happened? Mom set the vials of blood with the cold pack on top of the car before she helped us back into the car, then she drove away. She didn’t realize what she’d done until we got to FedEx and she couldn’t find the blood they stole from us. Dad’s taking us back again today for “another stick.”
Xena: Noooo!! *shaking and hiding under the kitchen chair*

Lucy: I hope all our friends have a good Thursday and no one tries to steal your blood.

Xena’s Thankful Poetic Thursday

Xena: We’re finally back with a working ‘puter. And we’re not letting Mommy set her coffee cup anywhere near her ‘puter anymore! As always, we give our thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the fun picture every week.  I saw all that yummy milk and hopped right in to help lick it up.

Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk by Xena

Janie had just gotten her milk from the table
When she tripped o’er her own feet and wasn’t able
To keep it from spilling all over the floor.
That was the last of it, there was not any more.

Janie, Liz, Dell and Belle all began to cry;
The cats rubbed her legs and meowed loud and high.
Her schnauzer said, Stop! Let’s clean the floor
Don’t cry over spilt milk, there will always be more.

Now it’s time for thankfuls. I’m thankful I get to cuddle up under the covers with my Mommy every night. Sometimes I get too hot and crawl out from under blankets. Then, when I get cold and start to shiver, it wakes Mommy up and she pulls me close under the blankets and holds me until we fall asleep again.

Lucy: Since I don’t sleep under the covers, I’m thankful that Mom puts my sweater on me to keep me warm at the foot of the bed. Although I often creep up along her leg to touch her and Dad while I sleep

Chia: Seems like we’ve got a theme going on here. OK, so I’m thankful that I’m the best cover diver in the house and sleep anywhere I can get to under the covers. Lots of times, though, it’s right in between Dad and Mom’s legs.

That’s it for today. Have a good end of the week and weekend and we’ll see all y’all soon!

Thankful Poetic Thursday with Xena

Xena: Thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the fun picture every week.

This week I promised Teddy, brother to Angel Sammy, that I would make sure there was a super good poem for this picture so I decided to do it myself instead of letting one of my siblings take it on. I hope they understand, but it’s probably my turn anyhow! I decided not to jump into the picture. I really don’t want to be stuck in a lion’s den with a big boy lion!!

The Lion of Peace by Xena

The children all flock, the lion to see,
No one afraid nor in terror do flee.
Like lambs in the Good Book lay down with the lion
In peace, as it says in Revelation.

Some day soon we hope the hatred will end;
That people of all nations will be friends;
That race, sex and creed will not keep them apart.
Befriending the lion is a great start!

Xena: We pray for peace in our own nation, with acceptance of everyone’s differences. None of us pups are the same breed or color, but we are sisters and we accept each other and love each other. (Chia still has a few manners to learn…but she’s getting there.) And we think everyone should be able to make decisions about their own body. For instance, I should be able to say, “No, I don’t want groomed. I like my hair long. And don’t bathe me, either.” Right?

Chia: That’s right, and we should be able to say, “Give me all the food I want. It’s up to me to decide if I eat so much I get fat or throw up or whatever.” Right?

Lucy: Girls, I’m thankful that Mom just tries to keep us healthy and happy, like people do for their children. But you’re right, Xena. I also think that the adult people could try harder to get along and be allowed to make their own decisions about themselves. I know this isn’t the official Day of Peace in the world, but maybe we could all try harder to live with that value every day.
Xena: Happy unofficial Day of Peace, everyone!

Lucy’s Thankful Thursday Poetry

Lucy: Thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the fun picture every week.
I’ve made a short poem, but hope you still like it.

Do What’s Right by Lucy

You see, little one, they’re causing a fright.
I’ve raised you better, to do what is right.
One you are grown, what a difference you’ll make.
No hatred or chaos; let’s go eat some cake!

Lucy: Mom said she’s thankful I’m such a rule-follower. Compliant is what she calls me. It’s just how I am.

Xena: I’m thankful I got to go to work again on Tuesday. I kept greeting people real nice-like, but Mommy forgot to bring treats to give me for being a good girl. I still kept being good.

Chia: I’m thankful I don’t have cancer. Mom will tell y’all soon about the scare we had last week. And I’m thankful that Miss Jentry will probably be coming over to stay with Andrew and me and my siblings while Mom and Dad are away. I’m sure Mom will tell y’all about that, too. I just know they’ve been planning this for 87 months.

Lucy: Wishing everyone a good end of the week. I’ll leave you now with *wags* and this Irish blessing:
May your troubles be less and your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door

Chia’s Thankful Thursday Poetry

Can you believe my sis Xena gave the OK for me to do the poetry again this week!? Let’s do it and have some fun with it! But first, thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday, as well as Angel Sammy for the fun picture every week.

My Food Fridge Crisis by Chia

“My food fridge has been stolen!”
I gasped between bites of supper.
Now I feel
Sad and and real…angry.
Do I eat or do I chase?

“I’ve called the cops,”
My sweet sister woofed.
It is finished.
The thieves interned,
The fridge returned.

O Happy day! My body wagged.
Joyful running between bites of breakfast.
Now I feel
Happy and real…thankful
Do I play or finally sleep?

Lucy and Xena: *applause, applause, applause* Great job, Chia! You took a chance on a different kind of poetry and it worked! And we’re both thankful that our fridge wasn’t really stolen.

Chia: Gee, thanks! I don’t think y’all have ever complimented me before! I’m thankful that we’ve had pretty weather and gone on lots of walks, even at the greenway!

Mom Amy: And I’m thankful that I have vacation time to use between now and the end of the year and can take off more days to spend with you precious girls! Now, how about another walk?

Xena Living in the Light on Awww Monday

Hey there folks. While I know Angel Sammy is our poet laureate as well as the provider of such fun and funny pictures, I thought I’d make my own picture today and do a poem for it. If anyone wants to write me a poem in the comments, I’ll make sure Mommy reads it to me.

Living In the Light by Xena
I’m a church dog again
And I love to go in
To greet all the church folks
Who oft give me sweet strokes.

I sit in the bright sun;
Reminds me of G-d’s Son.
I feel warm and cared for
Right here by the front door.

The end.

Pee Ess: Thanks to  Comedy Plus for hosting Awww Mondays!

Thankful Thursday with Halloween Poetry

First, thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun picture every week.

Xena: Chia asked to do the poetry this week, so, since I’m a good sister, I said ok.

The Halloween Disguise by Chia

It’s the No Clue Dog Clan
To do the worst they can.
Disguised on All Saints’ Eve
Dressed up just to deceive.

“Let me at em!” Chia growls,
Or they’ll rip out that cat’s bowels.
Ri! Bark real loud and roar!
The cat will lock the door.”

“Then run fast!” whispered Luce.
The cat yelled, “Bones for truce!”
The three sat up and begged,
But later that house egged!

I was going to say I am thankful Mom didn’t embarrass me for Halloween like she did a couple of years ago:

2022 – How embarrassing!

But then this happened:

How humiliating!

She even faded the background to make me stand out more! She’s been calling me Sausage, as in “Come here, little sausage.” Grrrr. I give her a dirty look every time she does it. I mean, she’s starving me and I still put on another 1.5 pounds. Yep I went from 15 pounds to 21.5 pounds! (Riley’s food sure is tasty!!)

Xena: I’m thankful I’ve stayed nice and slender…although I’d rather get more food! And I’m thankful Mom took the day off work today so I didn’t have to dress up as a skunk…or a vampire dog!

I’ve already done that. Here’s a couple of throwbacks.

I’ve come to suck the blood out of all your steaks! Vampire Xena

Our first vampire on All Hallows Eve was our Angel Lexi. She popped into a party some of her friends back here on earth were having. She said,”“I am back for the party ’cause there are so many good food things and all my friends are gathered together in one place, but please don’t think I turned into a vampire dog when I died. I am not really a vampire! It is just a really great look for All Hallow’s Eve! Bwahahahaha – I have come to suck your blood. (barked in Transylvanian accent, of course)”

Hmmm. It seems like there is something just wrong about the title Angel Vampire, don’t you think? Happy All Hallows Eve, my sweet angel girl and to all our friends out there in Blogville.

Thankful Poetic Thursday with Zoie

Even though Zoie went home a coupla weeks ago, I still think about her once in a while. So I thought I would let her be the one who did today’s poem. I think she did a great job. Here’s the picture ( do you see she hopped into it?) and her poem.

For My Birthday by Zoie the Schnauzer

For my birthday I wanted crepes,
Not a troop of crazy apes!
Get me outa here tout suite
And take me to my Drew so sweet.

He’ll hold me and we’ll cuddle close;
He’ll treat me like his precious rose.
He’ll feed me and he’ll take me out.
I’m done with this whole walk-about!

Xena: Thank you, Zoie! What a great poem. A round of applause for Zoie, everyone. *Lucy and Chia* stomp their feet and woof*

Now, for our thankfuls. I am very thankful I got to go back to the church last week. I was getting so very bored at home. I’m also thankful that I’ll be going to North Carolina – depending on storm activity – the first weekend of November to do what’s called a “brace” with Chia. We get to dance to the same music at the same time with Mommy. I’m so much more experienced than her that she tests my patience sometimes and I start doing my fancy moves. Mommy said it’s only going to work if I encourage her, not try to outdo her. *sigh*

Chia: I’m thankful Mom thinks I’m good enough to dance with Xena. But sometimes I feel Mom and Xena’s frustration and I don’t want to do it anymore. Then Mom tries harder to be sweet and it helps. I just hope I can do good and not get too nervous at the trial in November.

Lucy: You both will do great! I’m very thankful we don’t live anywhere near the coast, and that our friends who do haven’t been hurt in the terrible storms!

We, that’s it for today, except to say thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.

Lucy’s Poem and Our Thankfuls

Thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. Mom said I’ve been a bit ignored lately, so I can do the blog today! Yay! And soon, very soon, I’ll have a new recipe for you, too.

Matilda and Me by Lucy

Hey, get this thing away from me.
It stinks and drools and may have a flea.

Matilda, you stink when you poop and pee.
If you want, she’ll be your loving puppy.

I don’t! Take me back to the nursery
Where I’ll be adopted by another family!

If we have to choose, we choose our Lucy
So goodbye, good luck and farewell to thee!

I’m so glad Mom picked me! Mom’s going out of town again this weekend to a funeral over near Nashville. She and Dad are spending the night and then visiting with our Auntie Jen and Uncle Bill. I sure wish I could go and be with my guy, Achilles, but there’s going to be too much commotion there with the funeral and all. I’m thankful that brother Andrew is here to take care of us! I love Andrew and my friend and brother Riley.

Xena: I’m kinda thankful that other schnauzer is gone. Mommy, my Mommy, would look down and see her standing next to her and think it was me… at least for a moment. How could she mistake another dog for me? I’m thankful I’m still Mommy’s baby girl.

Lucy: That’s all for this week. I’ll dig into Mom’s recipe box while she’s gone this weekend and get that other recipe I wanted to share. It’s another unusual one, BOL!

Kitten Kisses, Thankful Thursday, and Talk Like a Pirate Day

Chia: Thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. I hope Angel Sammy doesn’t mind that we added something to his picture.

Kitten Kisses by Chia

Hey Romeo, quit tryin’ to kiss me
We’re in Dad’s way, that’s easy to see.
But Juliette, I love you so fiercely,
Dad’s kickboxing moves brought it all out in me.

Let go her head! I’ll stop the kickboxing!
When Annie comes home I’ll show you something
That girls like better than forced kissing.
Romeo stopped and played a new game with string.

Xena: What did the kickboxer show them with Annie? Something fun?
Chia: Yep. He let Annie make him supper.
Xena: Then Mommy must know we love her a lot cause we always let her make us supper.

Lucy: I’m thankful my sisters are such innocents. And that Mom makes us supper…and breakfast, too. She has a few pictures of her birthday trip with Dad last weekend that we’ll show you later in the week. Mom read my blog post while she was gone and tried to find me some elephant for the stew. I’ll show you what she found after Mom helps me with the pictures!

TALK LIKE A PIRATE
Because Mom went away for her birthday and I think maybe because she forgot, she didn’t help us do a new talk like a pirate post. She’s recycling this one from 2018, the first one we ever did! I was just 2 years old then, and Xena was still a baby at 1 year old. We hope you enjoy it. Oh, and by the way, this is the first heading Miss Ann Adamus from Zoolatry made for me and Xena way back then!

Is everyone ready for my song? Here goes!

Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil be done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum. The mate was fixed by the bos’n’s pike
The bos’n’ brained with a marlin spike and
Cookey’s throat was marked belike It
Had been gripped by fingers ten and
There they lay all good dead men like
Break o’ day in a boozing ken__
Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum

OK Xena, your turn. I’ve even got a map here for us to hunt for treasure later.

Xena: What’s happening? Why is this weird bird here and why am I wearing a hat. Is this a joke?

Pirate Pete: No, matey, ’tis no joke. I am Pirate Pete, and this is Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Talk like a Pirate or walk the plank.

Grrrrrrr.

Great first try, me fine lassie. Try again.

B-argh-k!!

That be it, sweet Xena girl. All together now:

Yo ho ho an’ a bottle a’ rum!

Presented to you by Lucy the Pirate Dog and Xena the Pirate Warrior Princess as well as Pirate Parrot Pete.

Xena’s Thankful Thursday and Poem

Thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.

This was a picture I had to put a lot of thought into. The web is so pretty, but…
OK, I’ll stop keeping you guessing and show you my poem. First, the picture.

Chia Ate my Blueberries by Xena

I want that big berry,
It’s behind the web.
I’d better be wary;
I could end up dead.

I guess I’ll go home;
Mommy went to the store.
Chia ate all the berries!
Mommy, please go buy more!

Chia: Xeboo! You know I’m not crazy about blueberries! Why would you blame me?
Xena: Cause it’s usually you who gets in trouble for everything, so why not?
Chia: I’m calling my lawyer.

I’m actually thankful for you, Chia. You keep things lively around here. Me and Lucy were getting in a bit of a rut until you showed up four years ago. And I love berries of any kind, so I’m thankful, too, that you aren’t crazy about them. That means more for me!

Chia: Yeah, well, I’m thankful you eat the berries so I don’t have to, BOL!

Lucy’s Poetic Thankful Thursday

Lucy: Hi, friends. *smiles* It’s that special day of the week when we have fun, thanks to Angel Brian who is hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.

Here is the picture from Angel Sammy, followed by my poem.

The Cost of Living by Lucy
The cost of living had gotten so high
The chipmunks and squirrels were starting to die
From lack of a home with a fridge and all such
Stuff that you need. Is that asking too much?

They found new apartments that had slowly been built.
There was great stuff in them, and in one e’en a quilt!
Each left their “deposit” on the ground floor
Before climbing up high to go in their new smashed door.

A big rat or two had already moved in
Their little rat children were noisy, dirty and thin.
Then the deal breaker was smelled before seen.
The squirrels and chipmunks moved to floor eighteen!

I’m really thankful I have a good home with a refrigerator to keep all my food fresh until I get to eat it! And I’m thankful my Mom and Dad and Xena came back from their trip early this week. I’ve been working on my dirt addiction cause I think that’s what’s been giving me the squirts this past week. Mom said if it keeps up she’s gonna’ have to take me to see my dogtor. I like my dogtor!

Xena: I enjoyed being an only child, er, dog while I was on vacation with Mommy and Daddy. Even so, it’s been fun being back home with my crazy sister Chia. I’m thankful for both things!

Chia: I’ve decided to do everything Xena does so I get to be the one picked to go away with the folks next time. For instance I’ve watched how she greets Mom when she gets home from work, and I’m doing it the same. Even so, I’m thankful my bro Andrew was here with me. He let me sleep under the covers with him every night.

Lucy: We all hope all y’all have a good Thursday and have something good planned for the weekend coming up! See you later!

Body Switch by Chia and Thankfuls

Hi folks! *wiggles all over* It’s me, Chia!!! Wow, I had some fun with this picture that Angel Sammy sent us. Oh yeah, that reminds me. Thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. Xena sort of got in on the action, as you will see. Here goes!

Who’s My Dad by Chia
My Mom and Dad went out on a date;
I think it mighta been somethin’ they ate,
But when they returned
I was very concerned.
Were their bodies switched? What makes this their new state?

Mom’s got all the stuff and Dad’s walking so oddly.
Xe’s going with it. I think it’s ungodly.
Maybe it’s witchcraft!
If so, then I think that
We call the priest to end all this folly!

Chia: Wow, I’m thankful MY Mom and Dad haven’t switch bodies. And I’m thankful for getting to go on our family walks every morning with MY Mom and Dad. We go real early before it gets hot.

Xena: First I want you to know that I absolutely would be able to tell if something like that happened to our folks. My Mommy would still pick me up and love on me, and carry me in to bed to sleep with her even if she was in another body, cause she’d still be my Mommy!
I’m thankful she’s still her, though! I’m also thankful for the yummy ground beef we got at several meals this week. And the avocadoes. And the strawberries. And..well, all the good food we get.

Lucy: I’m thankful Mom hasn’t sent me to dirt-a-holics anonymous yet. First, I rolled in it all the time. Now, I can’t seem to stop eating it. She’s threatened to buy a basket muzzle to put on me when I go outside. She did google what causes pups to do that and there were so many things that can cause dogs to eat dirt that it almost made her dizzy. The first one she’s trying is feeding me more of my regular food. I can get behind that! (Or in front of it, as the case may be.)
Oh, yes, I’m also thankful Mom’s still taking me to work with her on Thursdays. (She wipes my mouth off before we get in the car.) I’m being very, very good, too! (There’s no dirt to eat there, but that’s not really what I meant about being good.)

Chia: Ok, Lucy Deucy, we’re gonna call it a day. Everyone have a great Thankful Thursday!

Xena’s Roller Coaster Ride on Thankful Thursday

First, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.

Xena: It’s not July anymore, so I get to do as many posts as I want, cause it’s not Chia’s birthday month any more and it’s my blog. Angel Lexi willed it to me. I’m very thankful for both those things!

Chia: No she didn’t!

Xena: She came to me in a dream and…

Lucy: Enough. Just do your poem, Xena.

Xena: Ok. *wags* This one was a bit of a challenge. And quite a bit scary to experience. But I always feel safe in my kennel. Oops, I almost gave away my poem. Well, here goes…

My Dare Ride by Xena

I took the dare,
I rode the ride.
I had somewhere
I’m safe to hide!

My Mommy said
She’d wait for me
‘Cause I’m her little
|Cup of tea!

I won the bet
What did I get?
A raw steak and
A cup of tea!

That’s all for me!

Thankful Poetry Thursday by Chia

Thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. Today I got up before Xena so I could make the poem for the picture. And here it is…

Open Wide by Chia
Hey lady, that’s right, open up wide
And let me take a good look inside.
I’m heading to college and need to decide
What type of service I will soon provide.

Dentistry is high up on my list…
I’ve also thought of being a linguist.
But these gorgeous teeth I can’t resist.
My mind’s made up, thanks for your assist!

I’m not sure I’d want a monkey looking in my mouth, let along messing with my teeth, ya know?
Anyhoo, Lucy’s finally back home — and so’s my Dad. I’m super thankful for that! Xena’s playing with me more, too, and that’s been nice. I’ll be even more thankful when the weather cools off a bit and we can go walking when Mom gets home from work. Hope to see y’all again soon!

XOXOXOXOX Chia!

Thankful Poetic Thursday by Xena

Good morning! Chia’s still asleep so I’m doing our post today. If she wants to keep this birthday month of blogging to herself, she’d better get up earlier! Thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. Here’s his picture and my haiku poem for this week.

There’s scooters for all ages
But none for a dog.
I don’t want one anyhow.

That’s my first haiku. Whatcha think?

I have to tell y’all about what’s going on in my Freestyle world that I think I’m happy about. Mommy took me and Chia a coupla weeks ago to practice, just the 3 of us. It was supposed to be Chia’s turn to learn a dance routine and go get her first title this November. Mommy wanted Chia to watch and learn from me, since she imitates me a lot. So I got to dance around the floor first with my Mommy, then I had to go in the kennel while Chia went out and tried it. I quickly discovered the kennel door wasn’t latched, so I ran out and joined the fun. Instead of stopping, Mommy kept going with both of us. Sometimes me and Chia danced right next to each other and sometimes we danced with Mommy between us. Mommy was so thrilled with what we did that we went back last Friday and met Miss Julia there so she could watch us and help with suggestions. BTW (that means By The Way), one person dancing with two dogs is called a Brace. Miss Julia videoed it. Mommy says please remember, this is only the second time we’ve done this, and we’re just “piddling around” out on the floor. Chia’s still got a lot to learn.

Xena and Chia trying out a Freestyle Brace with our Mom

I didn’t think I was going to get to do Freestyle again this year, but I don’t mind sharing a performance with the long dog as long as I get to dance, too. Besides, I’m a lot more experienced and confident and can kinda push her around out there teach her things. So that’s my thankful for today. Oops, she’s waking up. I’d better hit “publish” now. Have a great rest of the week and do what you love!

Chia’s Birthday Gift

*wags, wags, wags, wags* Hi, it’s me, Chia, the birthday girl! In case you haven’t heard, I’m turning four years old today, and the whole country is celebrating! I’ve decided to give the first picture poem of my birthday month to Angel Lexi. Hey, maybe I am growing up!
I’ve heard she used to help our folks teach ballroom dance, so I knew she would be the expert on this. She sent me this poem to share with y’all today.

First, thanks to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.

You’re Doing It Wrong by Angel Lexi

Please try to keep on beat
Stop looking at your feet!
Hold paws and move closer
And please don’t call me “sir.”

If you want to rumba
Stop dancing the samba.
You flew me to the North Pole
Cause your dance ain’t got no soul.

Don’t give up though it seems hopeless.
You two just have to focus.
This lesson’s going on your card
So you two just keep trying hard.

Chia: Do you see the credit card by Angel Lexi’s paw? Wow, she thought of everything. I knew she was the right one to do the poem for this picture! When she helped teach ballroom dance she always watched the teens practice and barked at them when they were doing it wrong. Then Mom or Dad had to go over and say, “Show me,” to the couple Lexi had singled out. And, sure enough, they were always doing it wrong. Maybe someday I can do that, too.

Riley: Dream on, hot dog. Me and Lexi, we didn’t always like each other, but she knew what she was doing and was always good at it. There’ll never be another like her. But I have to say, it was mighty nice of you to give her your special day poem. Maybe you really are growing up, Chia.

Chia: *wags* Thanks, RiBoy. *wags* Hey, everyone, I’ll be back tomorrow to share how my special birthday went today, with all my presents and great food. *paws crossed* In the meantime, I’m also letting Lucy do our Independence Day wishes. (I should get extra treats for this!)

I do want to do the thankfuls today. I’m thankful brother Andrew rescued me(when my name was Chico) and brought me here from a bad situation. Then when my previous dad got outa jail and wanted me, Andrew just said I had gone to live with someone else and they won’t give me back (all true). My life here is so, so good!! I love my sister Lucy the most, and I’m so thankful she has put up with me for over three years. And I love my Mom and Dad and cuddling between them in the big bed at night. And I’m thankful for my sister Xena, too. We’re the same size and have fun playing together. I’m thankful for my yummy food and I’m thankful that Mom’s giving me a chance at Freestyle! Wow, I’ve got a lot to be thankful for, don’t I?! *whole body wags*

Happy Fourth of July!!!
Chia

Xena’s Rough Saling and Thankfuls

Hi Friends! First, a big thank you to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week.  And lots of thanks for all the happy birthday wishes last week! I’m now 7 years and 1 week old. It’s still my birthday month, so I get to write the poem again, whoo hoo!

Rough Saling

Word got out I’d run away;
A found reward was on my head.
I’d just gone shopping for the day!
Now I’ll be trampled and found dead.

It’s supper-time, my stomach growls.
Across their heads I quickly run.
All these folks! I’m in hell’s bowels.
I’ll be home soon with my own Mom.

Now for my thankfuls. Hmmm. I’m thankful to live in my home with air conditioning. It’s been sooooo hot outside! And I’m thankful I have my little sister Chia to play with. Sometimes she’s a, a, shall we say, a pest? But she’s my sister and I love her. And I’m thankful for all my blogging friends, too!

Xena’s Thankful Poetry Thursday

Hi Friends! First, a big thank you to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. It’s my turn again since tomorrow is my birthday. I’m going to be seven whole years old! Someone told me that my birthday is on the summer equinox, also called the first day of summer. I hate to tell you this, someone, but today is the first day of summer! Happy summer, everyone!! And boy oh boy, if summer’s as hot as our spring has been I’ll be spending most of my time inside in the air conditioning. I get overheated real fast. Enough about the weather… here’s my poem.

A Tale of a Tail by Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

I wonder what everyone’s giggling about.
I’m a person with considerable clout!
Oh no! Tee Pee hanging out like a tail…
This can’t be known on my campaign trail.
I’ll make something up, I’ll claim it’s AI.
I’ll win the election with that big fat lie!

Lucy: You know it’s never good to lie, Xena.
Xena: I know Lucy, but sometimes we all – even you – lie just a little when Mommy comes home and asks us if we had our supper after Daddy’s already fed us. We all start yelling, “I want to eat! I want to eat!” Maybe we should be thankful that Mommy never lets us lie.
Lucy: Uh, in this case, that thankful would probably be a lie.

Chia: Well, I’m thankful that Gracie came to stay with us last weekend and, after the first day here, my enthusiasm stopped scaring her and she hung out with us.

Gracie, previously good friends with Lexi

And we’re all thankful that Riley’s still hangin’ in there and HP Andrew’s still hangin’ here with him!

Bye bye for now! Xena, soon to be birthday girl. (I heard that I’m getting to go see my peeps brother Adam tomorrow!)

Xena’s Thankful Poetry Thursday (hic)

Hi Folks! I get my blog back for the rest of the month cause it’s my birthday month. I’ll be seven whole years old on the first day of summer! I think I might be old enough to drink something other than water now, and I’d like to start with that kalua that Mommy likes. Here’s my poem…uh, maybe I shouldn’t start drinking…or maybe I shouldn’t start driving…

First, though, a big thank you to Angel Brian for hosting Thankful Thursday as well as Angel Sammy for the fun pictures every week. And here we go….

Don’t Drink and Drive by Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess

I wanted to take Mommy’s car for a spin.
I didn’t know what trouble I’d soon be in.
I grabbed a big bottle off the lower shelf
Thinking I would drink all of it all by myself.

Out of the driveway and on down the street,
I found drinking while driving was quite a feat.
I’d never done either before this wild day
And learned that at home I really should stay.

I barked and I laughed and then I got sick;
I barfed in the car all over the shift stick.
Next thing I knew I was parked ‘tween two cars.
I crawled out the window and blew a loud fart.

Many police arrived and one read my name tag;
When he called my Mommy I gave a small wag.
We can’t give a dog a D.U.I. they said,
You need to come get her and put her to bed.

No more will I drink and no more will I drive;
I’m very happy to be home and alive.
Just one little thing I do wish that I knew…
How’d I park in a space that’s just a walk-through?

Mommy has taught me better than to drink anything but water and she has showed me I can’t drive cause I can’t reach the pedals or see over the front dashboard. Besides, I get scared riding in the car when I’m not in my backseat kennel. I just wanted to ‘splain this to you to make sure you didn’t think this really happened! I’m real thankful that I have my Mommy to take me places.

Lucy: I’m thankful I have Mom and Dad to be close to when it thunderstorms.

Chia: I’m thankful I’m not scared of thunderstorms.

Riley: I’m thankful My Person Andrew is still here with me and helping me any time of the day or night that I need help. That includes taking me out when I really have to go in a hurry and cleaning up after me when I don’t quite make it outside. I still have trouble breathing at times, but MP Andrew has taught me to lift up my head and lay it on my bolster or the arm of the couch if I’m up there, and then I can breathe easier.

Thanks for stopping by to read my poem and thankfuls today! Xena
