I went to my very first ever Freestyle Dance class and I am so psyched! Hey Lucy, come look at the videos of me dancing with Mommy!
That’s my very first time around the floor. Can you tell how excited I was? I wanted to be sure everyone knows that I am really into this.
Lucy: But you…
Xena: I did so good that I got to do a special move called a Serpentine. I don’t think Mommy followed me very well; I had to keep coming back to get her.
Did you hear the teacher talk about the special move that Mommy did to help me switch sides, and hoped she could remember it? No? The recorder must have gone off before that. Well, I’ll ask Mommy to keep watching the recording so that she does it again. The teacher said the move would catch on and even get named after me!
Lucy: But you….
Xena: So now I go to Agility every Monday and to Freestyle every Sunday. Woohoo! Woof! Woof!
Lucy: *sigh* Good job, Xena.
I am Xena the Schnauzer Warrior Princess and almost Freestyle Champion (woohoo!)
Late last summer Mommy got me a super duper seven month flea collar. She had tried very, very hard to repel those nasty fleas using different natural ways, like using blends of essential oils on us and diotomaceous earth on the yard, but we just kept on getting bit, and I kept reacting strongly to the flea bites. That’s when she gave up and got this flea collar from our vet, Dr. Karen. I think Mom spent all her money on it ’cause she said she has never paid so much for a flea and tick collar in her entire life. When the weather turned cold, Mommy took the collar off of me and sealed it in a plastic baggie for when the evil fleas return in the spring. Well, we got springy weather AND my allergy test showed I have a flea allergy, so back on went the collar. That is, until Lucy chewed it off my neck.Mommy was not amused. She stood perfectly still, looking at it like she had never before seen anything that a dog had destroyed. #poormommy. We found a few small pieces on the stairs. Other than that, we think Lucy might be protected from fleas until after her next good poop.Lucy: I’m not going to get any fleas now for seven months. The collar box said the collar’s good for that long.
Mommy could not bring herself to throw away the collar. Or to tell Lucy that she was wrong. Now I have a duck-taped seven month flea collar. I wonder how many more months I have to go with it like this. Probably just until Lucy chews it off my neck again, he, he.
I am Xena , the Good Child.
Pupdate on Collar: Looks like Lucy continues to be protected from fleas. She chewed the collar off my neck again. My neck is 10 inches around. The collar is now 9 inches long. Mommy said you can do the math, whatever that means. I just saw it dropped in the trash. #poorermommy. It’s real cold again, so I hope those evil fleas are gone for a while, or at least until Mommy can get me a new collar. Phhhthhh on Lucy the flealess!
Xena here. Something bad happened. Our Uncle Bill’s Mommy fell down really hard. Her hip broke, and so did her leg, and her shoulder shattered. She is very old, and we feel very bad for her. So first, before we go any further, we want to ask for POTP for Miss Pat.
Our Aunty Jen and Uncle Bill drove the three hours from their home near Nashville to be with Miss Pat right after she fell. That’s why Achilles and Ella got to stay with us. Aunty Jen left them at our house while my folks were gone teaching a ballroom dance class. She locked Achilles in the new, gigormous kennel, and Ella took over Xena’s kennel. (That was to ensure that Ella and Lucy didn’t go on another destruction spree.) Achilles
When Mommy and Daddy got home an hour later, Achilles met them at the door. He really is Achilles-dini.
Ella was still in Xena’s kennel, and pitifully asked Mommy why she had to be in jail. Shortly after Mommy let her out she projectile vomited the little bit of kibble left in her tummy.
Mommy went up to the attic to pull out more dog beds. You can see that Angel Lexi’s bed got covered with red fuzz from my red blankie that was in the wash with it. The plan was for Achilles to sleep there because it is the bigger bed. Since he wouldn’t settle down, Ella claimed it. Silly girl, she didn’t even use most of the bed. I guess her head felt good on the floor.
The next day my folks had to go to work, so they jailed both of our guests. When Mommy got home (you know this is going to be bad, starting off like that, right?) Achilles-dini was loose again, but the door to the kennel was still locked. That is still a mystery. Now, here’s the bad part. The smell about knocked Mommy over. The big boy had left a steaming present in Daddy’s office, and I had to be in the house and smell steaming Achilles-dini poop all afternoon! *gag* Wait! There’s more! We couldn’t walk through the house without stepping in Achilles-dini pee. He left puddles and trails. I couldn’t believe Mommy wasn’t mad. She said it is because he drinks huge bowls of water all at once because he is so hot from his allergies. He takes medicine, but it doesn’t help enough.
Achilles-dini also decided the pretty hanging bulbs on the Christmas tree (yes, we still have our tree up in the front room because it make Mommy feel good) anyhow, he decided they are good to eat. No one has died – or even gotten yelled at (much) – yet.
Oh, and one more thing. I had a talk with Achilles. I told him in no-uncertain-terms that Lucy already has a boyfriend and he isn’t to be kissing on her. He understood and said OK, he could respect that.
BB, you know I have been called a “snitch,” but I can snitch on good things too, right? So here goes: Lucy behaved herself around Achilles-dini. Mommy is a notary public, and I will have her notarize my statement if you want, to prove it is true.
Our friends are going home today, and, until then, our folks are taking turns leaving the house for work and errands.
Xena: Me and Lucy had a great Christmas with Uncle Bill and Aunty Jen and Ella and Achilles. We all opened our pressies Christmas morning, and I got a santa that makes crinkly sounds that I don’t really like, and a great new bear.
Lucy: They are for me, too, Xena.
Xena: You don’t like to play with them, so they’re mine. But I will be kind and give you the crinkly santa thingie.
I love my new bear friend.
Anyhoo, Mommy asked me today why I keep taking my new bear friend (who I haven’t thought of a name for yet – any suggestions?) into the bathroom and leaving him/her there. All I could say is, “Why not?” Ya know, it’s not my fault if I take new bear with me through the house and she/he doesn’t follow me back, right?
Lucy: Mom and Dad got home just before our aunt and uncle left. That was a good present. Then our peeps brother Andrew came over for a while, too.
Xena: And then, on the day after Christmas, Mommy brought out all these new pressies for us that she had been hiding.
Lucy: I got new jammies. I’ve never had jammies before, and I’m not sure if they look OK on me. At XXL, they are the largest that Chewy.com carries. Mom says I am just a beautiful big girl. They are soft and warm, so whenever it gets cold, I will be cozy, especially now that I’m not allowed to sleep in the bed with Mom and Dad any more. But that’s a story for another time.
Then Mom helped us open our other pressies. I kept my jammies close so Xena didn’t take them.
Xena: I we got two bags of treats. One of them is Stella & Chewy’s Wild Weenies Grass-fed Lamb. The other one is Dr. Jodie’s Natural Pets N-Trail Mix with lamb liver and spleen, grass fed beef kidney, turkey heart and gizzards, and pork brain. Mmmm. They are both freeze-dried raw, so they fit nicely into our raw diet.
And I got a treat puzzle! I’m so excited about that ! I tried one at an agility classes, and I got really good at it.
You see, all you have to do is smell where the treat is, then move the circle thingie out of the way with your mouth or paw. I always go back and double and triple check that I got every single one. I think that’s called being detail-oriented.
Lucy: I wanted to try it, but Xena wouldn’t let me.
Xena: Too slow, Luce. You snooze, you lose. (Especially when it comes to a schnauzer and treats!)
Lucy: Mom got a pressie from Dad that me and Xena just didn’t quite understand. They moved with her when she walked.
Mom laughed and said, “Leave them alone,” and “They’re not toys.” But we think otherwise. By the way, do I look odd in this picture? I think it’s just the camera angle, right?
Xena: Wrong.
Lucy: Be quiet Xena. So, can you see that they have stained beards, just like Xena? The bad news is that one-size-doesn’t-fit-all, contrary to what the ad said. So Mom got the company to agree to pay for return shipping with her refund. She called it “false advertising.”
That’s the end of our Christmas recap, friends. We hope you had a good holiday, too. Love and wiggles from Xena the Schnauzer Princess Warrior and Lucy
Xena: Pee S. I have decided that my new bear is a girl and I think I will name her after my aunty and call her Jen Jen (unless you have a better name.
Today, Ace Reporter Lucy on the Groom Beat. First, we have Roxxii. Isn’t she a doll? Mom did what she calls a “Winter Groom,” leaving her body and leg hair long to help her stay warm.
Her Mom had to leave her for three hours while she worked, so Roxxii came upstairs to stay with us.Xena: Who are you and why are you here? I play bowed and you didn’t respond. Don’t even think about taking my Mommy or stealing my food or my pressies from under the tree.
Roxxii: I hadn’t thought about any of those things until you mentioned them, schnauzer dog. Where are the pressies? I don’t see any.
Xena: Just never mind. I already hid my reindeer when I saw you coming.
30 minutes later after Roxxii ran all over the house looking for Xena’s reindeer…Roxxii: I want my Mommy.
Meanwhile, downstairs in the grooming room…Dora the shih tzu: Maggie, did you see if that other dog ever came back? What happened to her?
Maggie the schnauzer: I don’t know, Dora, but I’ll protect you.
Maggie: Miss Amy, where did that other dog go? Is she staying with you while her Mom and Dad go away like we stayed a few weeks ago? Is she OK?
Dora: (As their Mom pulls into the driveway) Can we go home now, Miss Amy? Are we staying with you again, too? I really want to go home.
Angel Lexi: There’s no place like home.
Well, I seem to have totally lost control of my article, so I guess that’s all for today, folks. Wags and wiggles from Lucy, Ace Reporter who needs a lock on her computer.
Mommy got a job. I liked it better when she was home with me all day. I slept in her lap a lot! Now Mommy is working at another church, uh, I mean a synagogue. I think that’s right. Anyhow, it’s another place where God lives.
Good grief, Lucy, I said God, not Grodd. Anyhow, I grodd — dang, I meant got. I got to go to the synagogue with Mommy last week. Everyone came in Mommy’s office to meet me and pet me and tell me how sweet and pretty I am. One lady even said that I had leg hairs like the big Clydesdale horses! Mommy was real busy keeping me under control working, and she forgot to take any pictures. I even got to go to the staff meeting because I threw a fit when she left me alone in the office across the hall, where Mommy made me stay on her lap and everybody ignored me.
We left work early and went up the road a short piece to the special vet’s where I had gone two weeks ago. He is called an allergist, and I heard he comes here to Chattanooga from the Knoxville Veterinary school at UTK. That’s where really good animal dogtors teach students how to be animal dogtors. He is supposed to be very special, or maybe on a special list.
I really didn’t know why I was there, but I should have guessed it wasn’t for anything good when Mommy lost the battle about holding me for something that was about to happen. She had to wait in the lobby while they whisked me into the inner bowels of the building. I remained brave. I didn’t even flinch when they cruelly stuck a needle in my arm. The next thing I knew, the world kinda’ started spinning. Then everything got peaceful, and I didn’t care what was happening. I heard the sound of clippers, like what Mommy uses to groom me, before I felt little pricks, but it didn’t bother me at all.
Before long, they gave me a shot and the world started coming back into focus. The nice nurse, Noah, wrapped me up in a fluffy towel and brought me out to Mommy. Mommy held me and talked sweet to me, but I was kind of a little bit mad at her for not saying, “No,” like she does when the vet places want to shove the glass stick up my patootie. I wouldn’t even look at her. I kept growling, but the growls all faded out into pitiful whimpers. Finally, I let my anal glands empty on her arm. I thought I heard Angel Lexi coaching me on that one.
I wanted Daddy to hold me when we got home. I feel safe in his arms.Nurse Noah gave Mommy a paper showing what I tested positive to. I am allergic to 17 of the things they tested me for, ranging from different trees and grasses to fleas and house mold. Nurse Noah is going to make my sea rum on Monday and mail it to me. I sure hope it tastes good!
I had been wondering when I would get groomed again. I knew I was way overdue. My back hairs stood up like a crazy clown’s hair when they were rubbed the wrong way. My hair does need to be kept pretty as befits a princess, even a warrior princess, right? Are we done? No bath today? Woo hoo!
Will I do a nice pose next to all of my hair that is no longer on my body?
How’s that? Do I get a cookie now?One more, and look a little more interested?
Geesh, how interested can I be in old hair that I can’t even eat?Hey everyone, look at all my hair on the table! I am so interested in what you think! Can I have a cookie now, Mommy?Hey Daddy can I get a glass of that special stuff in the schnauzer bottle? Maybe just a little? As compensation for being groomed? No? Another cookie, then?
I am Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess, always campaigning for the good things in life.
Xena: Daddy and brother Adam put up a big thing that looks like a tree right in the house!Xena: Lucy was scared, but I wasn’t scared at all!
Lucy: It looked like a tree, but it didn’t smell like a tree. Then Mom put all these lights and other stuff on it, so it didn’t really even look like a tree any more. I still don’t know what it is.
Xena: So what did it look like, Lucy?
Lucy: *whispers* A giant monster.
Xena: Well, sitting in front of the monster got us treats, so it couldn’t be all bad. Am I right? Then Mommy found some fun stuff in the plastic bins. This is the Christmas gorilla. I think I will name him Grod, like on our favorite Netflix show, The Flash. Only our Grod will be a nice ape.I promise I won’t hurt Grod, Mommy. Can I keep him? He’s my new friend, and I’m not afraid of him.
I am Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess and Keeper of Grod.
I am Lucy and I’m staying in the other room away from the giant monster.
Lookie what my Auntie Jen gave me so I can stay warm all winter long! She said it was Angel Piper’s hoodie, and now it can be mine. I wonder if Piper ever pretended to be R2D2 from Star Wars. Beep, boop, beep, beep! He, he. I’ve been wearing my new hoodie to bed ’cause Mommy and Daddy are too cheap to keep the house warm like to sleep in a cool house. Thank you, Piper and Auntie Jen. We love you!
Think mushrooms are not safe for your dog? Think again! Just be sure to cook them first, and do not feed them raw.
Xena was just diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis, which is a fancy way to say inherited inhalant allergies. I was quite shocked and dismayed to hear this – even while rejoicing that it was NOT the sarcoptic mange that I had suspected. I took great care to find a reputable breeder as well as doing everything I can to support her gut health, where the immune system originates. And sometimes, even with the best bred dogs, something can go wrong. Hence, my dismay.
So now, we have nowhere to go but forward, and it seems that reishi and shiitake mushrooms are going on that journey with us. Here’s a quick overview of the best mushrooms to keep both dogs and people healthy as well as to help with certain conditions, from regulating blood pressure to treating allergies and cancer.
You can follow thislinkto find out more about these fungi that are power players for both you and your dog. We’l let you know how the journey goes, and if we notice a difference after feeding some of these cooked mushrooms for a while.
We hope you enjoyed another episode of Friday Food for Thought.
I’m Xena, and I approve this message. Wait, what? The election is over? Well, I still approve it ’cause it’s about giving me food! ~Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Lucy: Remember when I said we had better get pictures of these flowers that Mom planted before they died? This is the azalea bush. Or what’s left of it.Xena: Let me take a look, too, Lucy. Oh yeah, remember when it was first planted, and the blooms looked like this? When we passed the dying plant on our way to take our walk last night, I heard Mommy say that she hopes it will come back nice in the spring.
Lucy: Then I heard Dad sort of snort-laugh, real quiet-like so she didn’t know he was laughing at her.
Xena: Hmm, I better check out Mommy’s Mum *chuckle*. Uh, oh, it’s as wilted as my leg hairs after playing in the wet grass. I think she’s going to plant it in the back yard with the cactus that never die and hope that it blooms again next fall.
Do you want to go around the side and check out the pansies?
Lucy: Nah, I already did, and they’re gonners too. Good thing she’s better with us dogs than she is with the plants.
Xena and Lucy: It’s November, and we’re thankful that Mom helps us stay alive and healthy and that we aren’t her plants.

Your friends, Lucy and Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Lucy: Chaz is a toy terriorist Yorkie. His sister Chloe is a miniature Yorkie. They have been coming to Mom to be groomed for quite some time now. This, however, was the first time they came to stay overnight. Oh, boy, a slumber party! First, though, there was the grooming.
Chaz after groom
Both me and Xena did a meet and greet with Chaz. He is a nice boy. After I explained to him that even though I am a lot bigger than him, I would never hurt him, he wasn’t afraid of me. I wondered why he was wearing that green thing around his middle, then I saw him lifting his leg to pee on all our furniture and I knew why! Then it was Xena’s turn.Xena: Yep, I ‘splained to him face-to-face, eyeball-to-eyeball that I was bigger, too, and if he wanted to run, I would be glad to chase him. So he ran and I chased and Lucy followed us both all over the house. I don’t know why Mommy kept yelling at me to stop. I was having a ton of fun!
Lucy: Then there was Chloe. First she snapped at us, then stayed in her kennel the rest of the time. Mom dragged her out a couple of times to go potty, but she wouldn’t do her bizness. All she wanted was to go back in her kennel. Mom put her food and water in there, too, but she wouldn’t eat, either.
Chaz made up pretty quickly with Dad. Look, they both have the same expression on their faces!Dad was a bit skeptical about holding Chaz while playing word games with Mom.But then Chaz helped him win. Mom said, “No fair!” but Chaz and Dad just laughed. They got to be such good friends that at bedtime Chaz slept on Dad’s pillow, right next to his head. Chloe was invited too, but she still wouldn’t come out of her kennel, and growled every time Xena walked past.
When their folks came to pick them up, they said that Chloe was always like that when they left her, no matter where she stayed. She wouldn’t even eat treats. Can you imagine!?Xena: I hear they are coming back real soon. Maybe we can play the chase game again, Lucy Ducey.
Lucy: *sigh* I’d better watch out the window for them to warn them of your plans, Xena.
This is Lucy and Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess waiting for our Little Visitors to return.
Angel Lexi: On All Hallow’s Eve, I am back to play tricks and get treats. So tonight, I am reclaiming my blog. That’s right, my blog! This is the night before All Saint’s Day, the day where I will be especially remembered and prayers will go up for me and a candle lit to show I am still the light of the world and star of the stage to show my spirit still shines brightly in the hearts of those who love me. So tonight I will partake of a little mischief. I would rather partake of Kahlua and cream, but there is no cream in the refrigerator. Angel Lexi: Lookout, Xena, here I come. You may eat raw meat every day, but I have not yet had my fill of blood. Eating kibble all my life has left me very, very thirsty. (in best Bela Lugosi voice) I come to suck your…oh forget it, that’s just too corny, even for me. Now, where was I? Tonight, Xena, you become like me!
Xena: You mean I am going to become an Angel?
Angel Lexi: No! You will be a Vampire Dog!
Xena: Aghhhh! Help!
Angel Lexi: There is no help for you. You will crave blood, fresh blood. Now go get some blood! (And bring me all the meat from the fridge.)
Xena: Oh, Mo-o-ommy… hold me, Mommy, hold me close.
Lucy: No, Xena, the saying is apple of her eye, and what she really said is to try harder to catch the pieces of apple she was throwing to you or you might get hit in the eye by a piece.
Xena: But it’s Flower Friday, so I must be the flower of her life!
Lucy: Whatever, Xe. I can never understand your reasoning. But you’re right about one thing… it is Flower Friday. The sun has been shining all week, and Mom took pictures of us on our walk.
On our way down the sidewalk next to the house, we detoured around the bush that Mom hasn’t been able to trim because Charlotte #3 made her web right in the front and won’t move. This large bush is called “Mom hates it ’cause she has to trim it while standing on a ladder.”
After we got around the bush, we headed down the road in the sunshine, taking our shadows with us.This is not our house or mailbox or address or flowers. Proof is that there are live flowers, BOL! We do not even know what kind of flowers these are, but they are pretty and still blooming in October. And you can see how bright the sun is by how I had to squint my eyes to try to look into the camera.
That’s all the flowers for today, but we hope to have more soon from Rocktoberfest that starts this weekend at Rock City! In the meantime, we want to thank Rosy from llbinourbackyard where you can join the blog hop or visit more nice blogs with anipals and flowers.
Xena: Mommy likes me better than those flowers, right, Lucy?
Lucy: Well, yes, and where are you headed with this?
Xena:I must be the flower of her likes!
I am Xena, Mommy’s favorite Schnauzer Warrior Princess Flower.
I’m itchy. I’m licking and biting and scratching my face and my feet and my legs and well, everywhere. Mommy says it’s seasonal allergies. I say it’s super poopy (thanks, Noodle, for teaching me that.)
If I went to the nice lady vet and got an allergy shot, I wouldn’t be itchy anymore. But that’s how Mommy’s first schnauzer, Freda, got Cushing’s disease – from another vet where Mommy doesn’t go anymore. So no allergy shots for me!
I’ve found the best remedy is to curl up in Mommy’s arm and let her scritch all the itchy places. She’s real good at that and is careful to not hurt my skin.
Mommy is working on natural ways of helping me. She reads a lot and has ordered some special powders and oil and gives me yummy food that is supposed to help build up my I’m a moon system, at least the part of my moon system that deals with allergies. Here’s some of the stuff she gives me. The Krill oil is good because it doesn’t have any bad mercury in it like a lot of fish, and it’s in a vacuum bottle so it doesn’t spoil. I love my kefir, too. It is full of problematics, er, probies, or something like that, and Mommy mixes my new powdered colostrum into it. The information about my colostrum says, “FACT: Research has identified an ingredient called proline-rich polypeptide (PRP) as one of the main components of colostrum responsible for eliminating or improving the symptoms of allergies. It’s also thought to be useful for other autoimmune conditions. PRP is reported to stimulate an under-active immune system into dealing with disease-causing organisms and it can also suppress an overactive system that results from autoimmune disorders and allergic reactions.”
Anyhoo, I also get Seasonal Support sprinkled on my food. Mommy said to follow the link to find out all the good stuff in it, like stinging nettle, bee pollen, cat’s claw and herbs and more. It tells more about how it helps, too.
There is stuff in apples and bananas that is supposed to help get rid of the itchies, too. We only get organic apples, ’cause they have now replaced strawberries as the fruit with the most pesticides. Pesticides are icky. Mommy cuts the fruit into pieces and throws them at to me and Lucy to catch. It’s fun to play a game while eating.Sometimes, when the itching got too bad, I was taking a benny pill, too. But we’re trying not to do that, ’cause it can mess up all the stuff we’re trying to make healthy. We learned that if we just cover up the problem with drugs, it will come back even worse next time.
Oh, wait! Did I tell you that Mommy is making us sauerkraut now, too? Me and Lucy love, love, love it. The kit let Mommy make two big wide-mouth jars of sauerkraut at a time. Then Daddy started scarfing it up, so she had to order another kit so she could have three fur-men-ting plus the one that we are all eating. It takes at least three weeks for the fur men to finish their work, but four weeks is better. It’s supposed to be full of probies, too. I love probies and fur men.I just got sprayed with sea salt mixed into organic apple cider vinegar. I feel better already, and am ready to take a nap in Mommy’s arm. I hope the itchy season is over soon.

OK Xena, your turn. I’ve even got a map here for us to hunt for treasure later.
Xena: What is happening? Why is this weird bird here and why am I wearing a hat. Is this a joke?
Pirate Pete: No, matey, t’is no joke. I am Pirate Pete, and this is Talk Like a Pirate Day. Talk like a Pirate or walk the plank.
Grrrrrrr.
Great first try, me fine lassie. Try again.
B-argh-k!!
That be it, sweet Xena girl. All together now:
Yo ho ho an’ a bottle a’ rum!Presented to you by Lucy the Pirate Dog, Xena the Pirate Warrior Princess and Pirate Pete
Lucy: This is our first time to join in the Flower Friday blog hop. First, we want to thank Rosy from LLB in Our Back Yard for hosting it.
We went on a walk with Mom around the neighborhood. Mom thinks these are called knock-out roses in one of our neighbor’s yard. Whatever they’re called, this one’s for you, Rosy! After reading all the pee mail and leaving some, too, we went home and ran, ran, ran in the front yard. The grass is long and still wet from the dew and high humidity, so Xena’s legs got soaked.
Xena: So why wouldn’t you come pose in front of the pansies, Luce the Deuce? Here I was, looking my worst wit the sun in my eyes and my tongue hanging out and I still did what Mommy asked.Did you know that pansies are a winter flower in Tennessee? Unless, of course, it gets super cold, then they die. 😦 We love their pretty faces. Mommy got 3 pansies for two dollars when we went to the Home Depot. But that’s a story for another day. I’m panting hot and all wet from run, run, running with Lucy in the front yard.
Thanks for letting us join in Flower Friday!

Pee S: Mommy can never get the blog hop stuff to work, so be sure to go over to Rosy’s blog (the link is at the top of my our post) and visit with everyone.
Lucy: Mom went to the grocery and bought us watermelon. Xena: We were hoping real hard it was for us, cause it looked sooooo gooooood!!!
Lucy: We got to play catch. I am a very experienced catcher.

Xena: But Mommy kept throwing watermelon at, er, to me, and eventually I caught some.
Lucy: I mostly caught, but once in a while Mom didn’t make a good throw, so Xena got to eat that. We had so much fun, and Mom laughed and laughed while she stuffed her face ate some watermelon too while throwing it at to us..
Xena: After we were all done making a mess catching and eating watermelon Mommy had to get out a bucket and mop the floor, but she said it was worth it. Then she had her “special” watermelon treat. We didn’t get any.
Lucy and Xena: It’s still summer as long as there is watermelon!
