Full Crew on Talk Like a Pirate Day

Today we are celebrating Talk Like a Pirate Day. We’ve asked Angel Riley to join us, as he always enjoyed this day, and he managed to get a half day pass from the other side of the Bridge. And we invited our new friend Oliver, too. He was a bit hesitant, but we talked him into it. We said something like, “Arrr, do ye wish to throw in with this scurvy crew, or be takin’ a stroll off the plank, ye bilge rat?” Oliver decided to join us.

Riley: I can near lay me eye on home from here!

Chia: Arrr, I be the Captain!
Xena: Me an’ Ollie’ll be comin’ fer ye, Captain, when the lass ain’t watchin’!
Oliver: Now hand over some o’ that fine grub ye be feastin’ on, ye greedy sea dogs!
Lucy: Belay yer jabberin’ and fix yer deadlights on the lookin’ glass.

Everyone: Wishing all ye scallywags a jolly Pirates Day — may no soul be forced to dance the plank today!

Talk Like a Pirate Day

Once upon a time, in the heart of the Chattanooga Valley, there lived four dogs named Captain Riley, Blackbeard Xena, Long John Chia, and Brindle Lucy. They were pirates who sailed the high seas of the mountains and were feared by all who knew them.

As they sailed through the valley, they encountered many obstacles. They had to navigate treacherous waters, avoid dangerous wildlife, and outsmart rival pirate crews. But they were determined to find the treasure and nothing could stop them.

The treasure was more magnificent than they could have ever imagined. It was a chest filled with gold coins, precious jewels, and rare artifacts. They knew that they had struck it rich and that their lives would never be the same again.

With their treasure safely aboard The Salty Dog, they set sail back home to the Chattanooga Valley. They were hailed as heroes by all who knew them and their legend grew with each passing day.

One day, they decided to embark on a new adventure. They had heard rumors of a treasure hidden deep in the valley and were determined to find it. They set sail on their trusty ship, The Salty Dog, and began their journey.

Finally, after many long weeks at sea, they arrived at their destination. They docked their ship and set out on foot to find the treasure. They searched high and low, through dense forests and rocky terrain, until they finally stumbled upon it.

A place they could raid for all the treats their ship could hold!

And so ends the tale of Captain Riley, Blackbeard Xena, Long John Chia, and Brindle Lucy- four dogs who dared to dream big and became legends in their own time.

Talk Like a Pirate Day: Riley, Lucy, Xena and Chia Go to the Beach

Xena: You know Mommy and Daddy’s gone off to the beach without us again, right? And we’re left all alone to Talk like a Pirate.

Riley: Never fear. I will once again lead the charge in finding them this year. We’ll let narry a pirate whisk them away, at least not before we get our supper.

Lucy: Yeah, well, that didn’t work so good last year. We ended up on an inflatable pirate ship that took us nowhere and we had to hurry and get back home before Miss Christy got back from work. (click here if you missed that.)

Chia: But I was the captain!! Let’s do that again! I wanna be the captain again! I found Miss Christy’s credit card and phone and I’ve contacted an Uber to get us to the beach.

A few hours and a huge Uber bill later…

Chia: Lookie here, ye rogues! Me caught me a sea serpent and made haste to kill it. That makes me the Captain. I’m Captain Chia, harr, harr, harr!

Xena: Quiet, bilge rat, and bring me a grog whilst I watch for our pawrents.

Chia: Grrrrrr. Garrrrr.

Riley: Me thinks me catches their smell, Lucy me mate.

Lucy: Remember to get yur hat on the way back, C’ptain Riley.

Chia: Why din’t any of ye rogues wanna play with me sea serpent?

Xena: I told ye, ye bilge rat. Me watches fer our pawrents who’ll have the chest of treasure.
Chia: Huh? And call me Captain Bilge Rat, er, I mean, Captain Chia!
Xena: With our supper, Captain Bilge Rat.

Riley: The smell gets closer.
Lucy: It smells like BBQ…
Riley: Aye! We’ve found the booty!!

(People yelling) Hey, you dogs! Get away from there! Bring that food back!

Later that evening…Miss Christy on the phone with Uber…

Why did you charge my credit card all that money? Uh huh, no, no! I’m telling you, I did not order an Uber to the beach and back! Do you know how far that is!? I was at work all day. Wait…
do you dogs know anything about this? Wait, what am I saying? You’re dogs. Dogs just don’t do these things. *shakes head*

Well, is everyone ready for supper? Uh, Riley, where’d you get that hat?

Everyone: *woof, woof, woof, arrf, grrr, woof, Miss Christy! (Translation: Supper, yes! And we love you, Miss Christy.)

Talk Like a Pirate Day: Gettin’ the Folks

Xena: It’s really nice having Christie here with us, but isn’t it time for Mommy and Daddy to come home?

Lucy: I know it’s Mom’s long weekend birthday trip, but it seems like 87 days.

Chia: Play with me! Let’s play! I got your cheek, Lucy and I’m gonna pull until you play with me!

Xena: I want my Mommy.

Riley: I’m gonna go find them and bring them home I heard somethin’ about a beach.

Lucy: I saw this on social media:

Riley: That’s them! That beach can’t be too hard to find. Anyone with me?

All: We’re coming too!

*A few hours later.*

Chia: I’m wearin’ the hat and that makes me the captain. I wanna’ turn this wheel when we get goin’.

Riley: Smartly, me lasses. Daylights a’burnin’. We don’t wanna be caught out in a storm after dark and end up in Davey Jones’ locker. That’s right, everyone in. No scallywags or landlubbers amongst ye, right?

Xena: Uh, what makes you think you are less of a scallywag or landlubber than us?

Riley: Garr. I be showin’ ya’ this picture of me in the (un)briny water:

Xena: Oh, ok. Sorry. We’re jumping in.

*87 seconds later*

Chia: I’m the driver.

Lucy: The weather looks clear, Captain Riley. It should be a good trip.

Chia: I’M THE CAPTAIN!!!

Xena: Where’d you go, Captain Riley? Are we there yet?

Chia: I’M THE…

Everyone: Yeh, yeh, we know, YOU’RE the captain.

Riley: I’m up in the in the crow’s nest and I’m really tired after all that walking to get to the ship. I think I’ll take a nap.

Unknown woman by the boat: Are y’all ready for the ride to start?

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Lucy and Xena Talk Like a Pirate

Is everyone ready for my song? Here goes.

Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil be done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum. The mate was fixed by the bos’n’s pike
The bos’n’ brained with a marlin spike and
Cookey’s throat was marked belike It
Had been gripped by fingers ten and
There they lay all good dead men like
Break o’ day in a boozing ken__
Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum

OK Xena, your turn. I’ve even got a map here for us to hunt for treasure later.

Xena: What is happening? Why is this weird bird here and why am I wearing a hat. Is this a joke?

Pirate Pete: No, matey, t’is no joke. I am Pirate Pete, and this is Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Talk like a Pirate or walk the plank.

Grrrrrrr.

Great first try, me fine lassie. Try again.

B-argh-k!!

That be it, sweet Xena girl. All together now:
