Hi friends. I’m celebrating my 8th birthday that we observe on my Gotcha Day. It’s also the day before my Dad’s birthday! Hmmm, I wonder if I was his birthday present.
Dad: Yes, my sweet Lucy. You’re the best birthday present I ever got, and you have given me nothing but love and happiness in your seven years with me and your Mom.
So Mom and Dad just got home today from a couple of nights with my Auntie Jen and Uncle Bill and boyfriend Achilles. And 2 pigs. There’ll be a little more about that tomorrow. They brought Christmas presents with them from there, but it was all stuffies, which I don’t play with. I did enjoy watching Xena and Chia grabbing them and playing, and it kept Chia out of my hair for a while.
I also get to do the selfie today. I don’t really like my picture taken, but hey, it’s my birthday!
Guess I’ll just stay here in the kitchen, since it’s about time for supper.
Thanks to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!

Aunt Bobbie! Aunt Jenny! Let’s all look at the camera and do our Sunday Selfies together. Just us girls!
Why do my aunties not want to do this? Come on Uncle Dennis, let’s do a three quarter selfie.
But if we’re both doing a three quarter selfie, does that make it a six quarter selfie? And how much is that in dollars? And how many treats would that buy?
What, Mom? OK. Uncle Dennis, everyone’s going in the living room now. Why don’t you go on, too?
Thanks to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies! Jentry and My Person Andrew just left. That’s why I’m late posting this. They come almost every Sunday for a family dinner and visiting. I’m happy Dad Jeff came up with that idea. He must have known what I wanted.
Mom Amy moved my bed and pillow to the guest room. It’s so much quieter and out of the way of traffic. I get really good snoozes here. Happy Sunday, my friends. *wags* Riley
Daddy, isn’t Mommy coming out to take my selfie on your lap? She needs to hurry. I just ate and I’m getting sleepy.
A few minutes later…
Jeff: Amy, I think it’s too late for a selfie. Amy: I’ll catch her or maybe Chia wanting their pictures taken a little later.
“A little later”….sleeping with stuffies…
Xena with Riley’s Racky DChia with Brownie Bear
Many thanks to Miss Sandee at Comedy Plus for hosting Awww Monday, and to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies (even if we are a day late and not much of a selfie!)
Xena: This is the first day of the Halloween month. Yesterday Miss Della brought our yorkie friend Chloe for a groom. They live less than a half mile from us “as the crow flies.”
Chia: Or “as the dog runs.” I think I passed their house last week when I escaped and stretched my legs chasing the neighbor’s black cat back to another road behind our subdivision.
Xena: Yep, that’s why there are now eight inch garden stakes all the way along the chain link fence around the dog lot. They hope you can’t squirm under the fence anymore with those holding it down.
Anyhow, Miss Della sent us a sweet picture of Chloe on her front porch, so we invited Chloe to do the Sunday selfie this week.
Thanks so much to Miss Della for the picture and The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!
Mommy sent us pictures of her time at the zoo yesterday She said some of the animals reminded her of us. So instead of selfies, here are our (almost) doubles.
Lucy, Mommy said this first one reminded her and Daddy of you. You aren’t this big or anything, but she says you’re this gentle and sweet. Not only that, but this giraffe has your name!
Chia, yours is easy. None! She didn’t find any animals there that were long like a hot dot and fast like The Flash and and a combination of sweet and sour sauce. So, sorry, you don’t get an animal. Chia: Grrrrrrrrrrrr
Xena: Well, there were the otters that looked a lot like you, but they were swimming under water all the time, so Mommy couldn’t get a picture.
Riley, Mommy found several animals that reminded her of you.
The lion is the quiet king of the jungle but can roar really loud, and also keeps everyone in his pride in line. You don’t bark much, but when you do, wow. It’s deep and the whole neighborhood can hear it. The gorilla is smart and can be a clown like you were before I knew you, when you were much younger. And the bear, well, he does his own thing, takes his time and walks a lot like you. Wow. Mommy must really think about you a lot. I’ve never really given you much thought other than as the grumpy grandpa who I kinda stay away from except when I bark at you once in a while (when you’re laying down and can’t get up fast to get me!). But I’ve watched you play with Chia like you were a young pup, and I’ve seen you running through the yard and rolling in the grass. Maybe there’s a lot more to you that I realized.
I think this must be the one that Mommy and Daddy picked for me. Fierce and also loving.
Riley: Barharharharhar! So today you’re a comic, Xena. Come on, show everyone the real picture of the one Mom Amy picked. Xena: Oh…OK. Uh, but what is it?
Riley: It’s a red panda, curled up taking a nap. She said you look that precious when you’re napping like that. *gag*
Xena: Oh, well, maybe it does look a bit like me. *grin* I hope you enjoyed seeing our doubles at the zoo. And thanks so much to The Cat on My Head for hosting Sunday Selfies!
I’m free! I got released from jail last Tuesday as scheduled. It’s been so great! And I feel great after my big girl surgery. After my ordeal, Mom said I can do the Sunday selfie today. Oh, and thanks so much to The Cat on My Head for hosting Sunday Selfies.
I just got back from a big store with Mom. I’ve never been to a store before that I can remember. There was so much to see! I pulled this way and that, wanting to see everything at once. I didn’t find any treats, though, just pipes and bottles and lamps and stuff. But the lady at the checkout was super nice and kept saying how pretty I am and she loved my coloring and even petted me.
I’ve also been spending lots of time with my brother and sisters.
We’ve been playing a lot and we even got to take a walk yesterday when Mom didn’t think it was as hot as it turned out to be! But it was a short one, as we were all panting hard.
You’d think I wouldn’t want anything to do with that kennel that had turned into a jail cell after spending seven whole days and nights there. But I’ve grown quite fond of it. In fact, I think I’ll go take a nap there while Mom grooms a dog.
Thanks so much to The Cat on My Head for hosting Sunday Selfies. Once again I’m on “my” table to do a Sunday selfie. Watcha mean, Lucy? Smile? I am smiling. And saying, “Cheese” just makes me drool.
Well, that’s done. Hey, wait, someone moved the chair I used to get up here. I wonder how I’m gonna get down…guess I’ll wait for Mommy.
Still waiting…
No need to miss naptime. *yawn*
Hoping everyone has a good Sunday and a good, food-filled week.
Lucy: We were all outside on the porch, enjoying a beautiful day.
I’ve heard both Mom and Dad say, “They only learn the bad things from each other.” Being the youngest, Chia has a habit of getting on things like tables and kitchen counters. Lately, Xena has been immulating her.
Xena: It was easy getting up here. I can tell this is where Daddy eats. I can still smell his food. He’s a messy eater.
I can see everything that’s goin’ on in the woods from up here. No wonder Chia likes to do this.
5 minutes later
How am I going to get down? Mom! Where’s Mommy? I need to do my selfie!
Oh well, it’s not supper time yet. *yawn* Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Thanks so much to The Cat on My Head for hosting Sunday Selfies. I guess my selfie this week is of my bee hind, BOL! XOX Xena
Today we thank The Cat on My Head for helping us to say Happy Mother’s Day with our Selfies! To settle the argument of who got to go first, then next, then next, Riley declared we shall go in age order, starting with the oldest. Here we go, and this one’s for you, Mom!
Mom Amy: Y’all make it a great Mother’s Day, my dear girls and sweet boy. I’m so happy everyone is healthy and happy. I love you too!
Xena: Why are you all dressed up in this picture, Mom? Are you going somewhere? Mom: No, this is a picture from last night just before your Dad and I went out ballroom dancing. Chia: You mean when you left us alone with no food or anyone to bug, umm, I mean, pet us? Lucy: I was afraid you wouldn’t come back! Riley: Happy Mother’s Day!
Furst, thanks so much to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!
Hi Friends. Guess what tomorrow is…..it’s my birthday. And not just any birthday. I’ll be lucky number 13! Today I thought I’d celebrate by drinking some of Chia’s vodka. Oh yeh, she’ll tell you more about that on Tuesday.
I look kinda wet here cause I am. I just got a bath and a blow dry. But the blow dry wasn’t long enough to get me all dry. I got a nail trim, too. No nails were hurt in the dremelling process.
Anyhoo, Mom Amy promised to post 13 pictures of me tomorrow, on my birthday, so be sure and stop by and say hey! Now, to chew the top off this soft bottle…
Riley: Xena what’s called in legaleze “the first right of refusal” for today’s selfie. She was sleepy after quickly devouring her breakfast, or brekkies, as she calls it, and refused on the basis of not wanting to go through getting “prettied up” to be presentable.
I, myself had just settled in for a long last-day-of-winter nap when asked if I wanted to do the Sunday Selfie. Since all I had to do was look at the camera, I said sure, why not? So here goes…
Besides I have news from going to the vet — my favorite vet place where I love going — on Friday. My belly has been really big, and I’ve been chewing on one side of it. Plus I’ve been hacking up clear, foamy liquid a couple of times a day. This all brought a big uh, oh from Mrs. Dr. Vet. Listening to my heart, she said my murmur had gotten decidedly worse, too. So I get to go back to visit with them again in two weeks for x-rays and stuff. And I get to take drugs before I go, but shhh, don’t tell anyone. Mom asked if Mrs. Dr. Vet couldn’t just put me on the heart medication she had talked about, and the answer was a bit scary. Something about if it was the other thing, like a growth or tumor or something like that, on or around my heart, the medicine for a heart murmur could make it – and my heart – explode! Eeeyikes! So Mom Amy and Dad Jeff decided to spend the money on diagnosis. Whew. I’ll let you know what happens. But at least I won’t be having an exploding heart…I think that would hurt a lot. Your buddy, Riley
Oh, and thanks so much to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!
Mommy, you promised I could do the Sunday Selfie today…did you forget? Yes, I know you’ve been grooming dogs and working out in the yard all day, but this is priority stuff. I can pose lots of different ways and you can take lots of pictures. But we need to get on it, I mean, it’s almost supper time. *drool* almost…supper….time….
No! No! You can’t use that one. You need to comb my hair and wipe the drool off my mouth.
(1 minute later) Now I’m ready. How about like this?
OK, that’s good.Let’s just use that one. Is supper almost ready? Oh, and Happy Sunday everyone!
Thanks so much to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!
Greetings, my friends. If you know me, you know I don’t like to have my picture taken. Even last Sunday, on my birthday, I gave the privilege away to my BFF Ella. This week, when Mom asked, “Who would like to do the Sunday selfie?”I stepped forward. Literally. You can imagine her surprise. She said, “Lucy, are you sure you want to do the Sunday selfie?” I looked at her and wagged my tail, and out came the phone camera.
Of course it was a challenge with Chia on the loose. On the first try, she photo-bombed me.
Mom suggested we try again. This time, Chia ran in and screamed in my ear.
After that disruption, Chia had to go to time out. Besides, I’m only seven years old and I don’t want to go deaf just yet.
Finally, here is my selfie. Mom wants you to know that I really can look happy and even smile, but I just get nervous about this whole picture thing. Xena says practice makes perfect, but I don’t know. I think there are just naturals. I’m a natural at calming people and helping them feel good.
With that done, I cuddled on the couch with my peeps brother, Andrew.
His hands are blurry cause he’s stroking my shiny furs. Oh dog! There’s Chia again. I’m going into zen mode now; see all y’all later.
We want to woof out a big thanks to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!
Yesterday was my birthday. I turned seven years young. My BFF Ella came a long way from Nashville to visit me, and we had our usual great time together. I told her as a thank you that she could do the Sunday Selfie today. She readily agreed. Here’s my Ella.
Speaking of my birthday, I had a great day. Mom filled all our treat puzzles and we enjoyed finding and eating the treats. But mostly, I hung out with Ella. You can see us taking a break in these pictures, while Mom and Auntie Jen visited.
Here we’re resting before Ella got her nails dremeled by Mom.
And here we’re practicing synchronized sleeping.
And here we’re just holding tails.
I wish me and Ella could be together always! I guess that’s what it means to have a BFF.
Finally, I want to give a big thanks to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!
This morning Mommy asked, “Who wants to do a Sunday Selfie?” and I wagged my tail the hardest and got the job. I love to pose to get my picture made! Happy Sunday, friends!!
A big thanks to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies!
Riley: Hi folks, and Happy New Year from us all. We had a good Christmas with lots of treats for gifts and no clothes. Yep, that’s a good Christmas. My Dad Andrew has been here with us too, and that makes me tail-wagging happy!
It’s my turn to do a Sunday Selfie, so first, a big thanks to The Cat on My Head, for hosting Sunday Selfies! Today I want to show off my new Benebone I got for Christmas. We all got one, and at first Chia was going around grabbing everyone’s and hiding them. Since she stopped that nonsense, we’ve all been going around picking up whichever one we come to, so I don’t think this is the one I chose, but hey, it’s still good!
Hope you’re still enjoying lots of treats and time with your folks. Love y’all! *wags* Riley
